Once you've touched the crystal, this stays in your inventory (no sell value), so unless you're going to wear it, just destroy it as it serves no other purpose.

I found it amusing that this item dropped from a Scarlet soldier for my Death Knight in the Eastern Plaguelands starting area.

I just spent forever grinding out in desolace trying to get this item to drop for me. The only advice I have is don't. I spent 12 hours killing things trying to get this item to drop for me just so I could begin this quest, and it didn't drop once. This is definitely one to just hope you get as you go along your other various quest.

Funny that some of the posters above have mentioned it dropping in other places, for over a couple dozen alts of mine, plus all my son's alts, it has never dropped anywhere but by the trolls in Arathi Highlands. For several of those alts, it never dropped at all.

But if it does drop, it is well worth the travel and work to get to the end of the quest chain.

Dropped for me from a Cave Yeti lol it was the second i killed and dropped very lucky.

Some things that might be useful to know:

The Quest can be done, even if you already started the Myzrael Quest Chain (guess it also works if you completed the chain, but couldn't test it).

It counts towards "x Quests Completed" and "Loremaster of Eastern Kingdoms" Achievements.

Wow I feel so lucky... As a bored level 80, I was browsing for the very few quests I have missed in Vanilla WoW and found out this one started by this pendant. After reading the very low world drop rate, I decided to keep it for a later painful grind... 2-3 hours later, I was searching for the red book for quest The Human, Ras Frostwhisper in Stormgarde ruins and came by named mobs (Lord Falconcrest and his bodyguard Otto). I decided to kill and to my greater surprise Pendant of Myzrael dropped off Otto! I couldn't believe it!

This quest is not shareable. If it drops when you're leveling with a friend, only one of you can get this quest.

For those of you interested in acquiring this item, I would recommend you do not farm anything except Syndicate members from level 30 onwards, as this gives the added bonus of giving you rep towards exalted with Ravenholdt, eventually allowing you to gain the Insane title. I'm doing this as we speak and the rep is quite good, currently 10% into friendly, have not seen the pendant drop but I have high hopes that by the time I max out honored, this item will drop as well. Considering the level range of the pendant I would not advise people to farm Syndicate members in Durnholde Keep however.

update: as of this writing I have indeed acquired the Pendant from a Syndicate Thief while farming my Ravenholdt reputation. This was in the Syndicate part of Stromgarde after I had gone from neutral to 6000 reputation into honored.

It seems to only drop from 29-44 level (except mobs in DK area) humanoids. If you are doing all quests in the game like me, I recommend looting these kind of mobs as early as possible to increase your chance of getting this damn rare item.

it doesn't seem right that my Wife is a 45 gnome Mage and when she tried to loot this item it said " u don't have the requirements to loot this Item" but yet i was able to loot it as a 45 Dwarf Paladin. Could you please explain why this is?
