Too bad they didn't include fishing, otherwise it might have considered it for my gathering alt. Getting the other gathering skills up 5 might be a bit interesting while still leveling (though it only gets usable after lvl 60 items), or maybe to have a bit smaller chance on a "failed" on the high level sources, but when you're at max level this enchant is not worth it, even though its not that expensive. I hope they'll add fishing in the future, or increase the stats a bit.

as of jan. 2011 I ran into a boss in a Cata dungeon that was skinnable, but required skill of 530, yes 530. so it seems that this enchant might be rather important to maxed out people wanting to gather skins in the high level dungeons.

Here's my question:
520 skill + 5 from the enchant = 525 skill points, maxed out.

Now... if I pick herbs, will my skill increase, or will it stay at 520?

I'm concerned the game might ''think'' that my skill is already maxed out, and not level me up.

Does it stack with Guanti da Erbalista? My druid is an herbalist and she just got the gloves from a friend. I saw this enchant on the AH and wondered whether I should buy it and enchant my new gloves or not

Raccolta is taught by Enchanting trainers at 375 in Enchanting.

This enchant does not stack with the new herbalism skill buff from the Herbalist's Spade now sold at Trade Supply vendors.

UPDATE: After noticing Veretine's comment, I tested the change. This enchant DOES STACK with the herbalist's spade. Total bonus skill is +15 when used together.

This enchantment is now obsolete as of 5.0.5 with the +10 mining from the mining pick

I think this has now become mostly obsolete for all gathering professions. It only gives +5 and requires you to carry a pair of gloves in your inventory which you must then equip to actually get the benefit of the enchant. By contrast, if you have a skinning knife or mining pick those both give +10 skill now and don't have to be equipped, just have to be in your inventory. Coltellino Multiuso degli Gnomi in your inventory gives +10 as well without having to be equipped.

For those who are wandering if it's useful, it stacks with any gather glove but not with gather equip, cause character's maximum skill bonus is maxed at 10 for professions.

That's how this became trash.

WHICH HERBALIST BOOST IS BEST FOR TAURENS? (see below for non-Taurens)

First off, the Tauren racial buff is +15 to herb gathering, and faster herb cultivation.

(WARNING! Herbalist's Gloves are Leather, and therefor they can not be worn by cloth wearers.)

a) I enchanted Herbalist's Gloves with +2 to Herbalism, and on my Tauren Druid I get a total of +17 to Herbalism.

b) Having the same enchanted herbalist's gloves on, and with the spade in my bags, I still have +17 herbalism. So there is no change or addition to herb gathering with the spade added to the gloves.

c) Without the enchanted herbalist's gloves equipped, but with the spade in my bags, I only have a total of +10 to herbalism. Therefor not only does the spade not stack with the gloves, but it NEGATES both the Tauren herb bonus, AND the gloves.

d) Because the Tauren herb buff is +15, and my total herbalists gloves and enchant is +17, this means that I am only benefitting from the +2 enchant (+15 racial plus +2 enchant), and the +5 glove boost has been nullified.

e) The Gnomish Army Knife stacks with the +2 enchant; but does not stack with Tauren racial herb buff, so your buff will remain at +17 with or without the knife.

CONCLUSION: IF YOU ARE A TAUREN, any pair of gloves (whether they be soulbound or not) enchanted for +2 herb gathering, is far better than the spade. You will have a total of +17 to to Herbalism, as opposed to a total of +10 from the spade.

If you want the very best herb bonus for your Tauren (this has not been tested yet), get a pair gloves (any gloves) enchanted with the +5 "Enchant Gloves - Advanced Herbalism," or "Enchant Gloves - Gatherer." I haven't tested out the stacking of these yet, but in theory you should end up with +20 as a Tauren—but this depends on whether or not Blizzard has allowed them to stack—so far I have not been able to raise herb gathering above +17 on any character. I will update this comment as soon as I have results.

. . .Don't bother trying to farm the recipe Enchant Gloves - Advanced Herbalism. If you read all the way through the comments for recipe drops you will see that some commenters report GMs stating that the recipe is still in the game, though very rare; while one post has a link to a GM conversation screenshot wherein the GM states that the recipe is no longer in the game. The fact that to this day NO ONE has ever posted an experience of this recipe dropping, or from where it drops, I have to conclude that either the few who it has dropped for keep it secret, or they simply don't know what they got (and may have even vendored it), OR the recipe does not drop anymore. However you can buy it on my server right now for 20k—it's hard to know if the seller had it drop for them recently, or had it in their bank for a long time.

FOR NON TAURENS: Because the Gnomish Army Knife (+10) stacks with the enchanted (+2) Herbalist's Gloves (+5), I was able to raise my herb gathering to +17 on my Blood Elf, Rogue. That makes this combination the most effective (if you can equip leather armor), and raises your herb gathering level to equal Taurens with a +2 enchant. Seeing that no matter what combination I try I can not get my gathering above +17 I wonder if this is the cap. (?) The only way to know would be to enchant Herbalist's Gloves with the extremely rare +5 "Enchant Gloves - Advanced Herbalism" (taking into consideration that the "gathering" enchant does not stack with the army knife.
