Has the drop rate of these decreased significantly since last patch (2.2)? Or am I just unlucky?

Actually there is a bug i find out myself with those, its kinda hard but it worth it!You can farm those and send em to your alt twink or whatever and then take him to Blade Edge Mountains just kill some mobs and take 10 Apexis Shards (from monsters ofc) just have some1 kill mobs for you and then you have a Healthstone for 2000 heal even on level 19 =)

Bash'ir Landing for farming these.

Nearby is the Landing Raid event that'll let you convert your many surplus shards into farming-useful unstable flasks.

After farming these for a short while, I can say I find the Gan'arg Analyzers to b excellent sources of these crystals. Farming their camps is pretty doable and on average I got 1 depleted focus from each camp, far more reliable than any other mob I tried.

for those thinking this could be a good way for a low level twink to heal; the created item becomes soulbound. not sure if this was always the case.

i brought my lvl 20 twink to BE mountains and farmed the focus and shards with the help of a higher level. it heals for 2,238 health, which is almost all of my hit points, and if it crits it heals for over 3300, pretty sweet for a warrior. it works in the Battlegrounds, but it has a weird cool down that I think may be bugged, as I can use it only once during a battleground, the tooltip says "cooldown will start when out of combat" but even when I get out of combat it just stays greyed out, and even prevents me from using Battle Standards.

but all that aside, it is an outstanding one shot heal much like Lay on Hands. just have to use the battle standard first ;)
