I came to Maldraxxus to farm the bone from the mentioned sources and got this from Segugio Animato on the first kill, while doing a random WQ, so guess it can drop from any Hound within the area.

I managed to get mine from an Segugio Animato at Glutharn's Decay (Two entrances, 62 47 and 65 54). The drop rate seems to be incredibly low, since it has taken me multiple days of on-and-off farming in the area.

Can confirm this can drop off Animated Pointer. Took me several hours of farming, much like BlueInferno.

Can anyone confirm what having this perk does during the Ember Court scenarios?

It took me about 20-30 minutes to farm this from Animated Pointers. Note they can respawn as Morbid Disciplines. So the best farming technique is to pull a bunch of them, farm them on, then move a bit over and repeat the process. They have a fast respawn time.

Right, I have figured out what Dog Bone does.
In my latest Ember Court, I had two guests who preferred a Humble court (Klea and Pelagos, and Alexandros Mograine)
There was an event up since the start of the court, which allowed me to turn in Fungo Selvatico at Picky Stefan for +Humble.
When I spoke with Dog Bone, it gave me the option to search out a rare fungus from Maldraxxus for +Humble. It lead me to a bush near the entrance (64.22, 44.29), where there was a Fungo Polmonare Gigante, which I could turn in on its own for +Humble, as well.
There may be other events where Dog Bone helps out like this, but this gives you an idea of what kind of things it does.

53 kills at Animated pointer just made circle and killed everything. Kill diseased galescreamers for blight-touched egg maybe you'll get lucky.

kind of strange no one mentions Segugio della Forgia Fiammeggiante as that's showing the highest drop rate on wowhead.

I tried farming Segugio Animato for a bit but there are so few of them and unlike what others said I wasn't seeing a fast respawn rate.

Edit, yeah you can't even find the other dogs that are supposed to drop this (wowhead lists 4). You're pretty much stuck with farming Segugio Animato

Dog Bone can take his bone and shove it right where the sun don't shine. This thing is an absolute nightmare to get and don't for a moment give any value whatsoever to the comments saying "Hurr I got this within 4 kills". I farmed for days on and off because I knew I'd need this for the meta achievement and it finally dropped from an Animated Pointer. After spending time farming them I don't believe for a moment that the Forgehounds are a better source. Just keep on killing and hope you're one of the lucky ones.

This is very much RNG as others have noted - took me 30-35 mins of farming Animated Pointers. If ya luck is in - it will drop early as others have noted here, if not then it's a grind. Simple as that I regret to say. No tricks to it. Just luck.

I can confirm as others have said: the Pointers spawn more quickly if you clear all the Morbid Disciples in the same area - just keep smashing and trashing and clearing the area and eventually one of the Pointers will give up the bone - RNG Will roll you the right number eventually.

I'm not a lucker so expectedly I had to farm the Bone, and I decided to combine it with "Training in Maldraxxus" calling when you get to train Drippy in particular. 2 hours of killing Animated Pointers brought me plenty of pet battle stones and portals like this: Portale Tascabile dell'Attendente: Selvarden. Little fish are sweet!
You can also get yourself a weakaura like "Dirty Glinting Object Alert" so that you never miss the digging timer.

Either they severely increased the drop rate, or I am one lucky son of a leper gnome, because I only killed 3 dogs - which was 1 pull with 3 dogs - and it dropped.

I was heartened by the recent posts indicating a higher drop rate. Alas, it took me 160 Animated Pointer kills; and roughly 5x that number of Morbid Disciples. ~2 hours of farming total-- not the worst grind in WoW, but not great for such a trivial item on a laundry list. The Rarity string below was helpful, as it gives you a sanity check-- if you're between 0 and ~400 kills, you're still within "normal" range for this drop.

Don't let the other comments fool you - it's a grind if you ain't lucky. Spent a couple hours half AFK waiting just for dogs to spawn and then starting to grind mobs to force respawn. Took over 1k dog kills. The area isn't fun to farm because everything is so spread out.

Hey all! Just got this after farming Animated Pointers for about 10 minutes. I'm not sure if its just luck but for reference i am Best friends with Vashj and Vole , good friends with Plague Deviser and Buddies with Mograine. Maybe the Vashj friend level matters when farming these?

Got this off a Darkhound Hunter during the world quest Deadly Reminder. As far as I could tell, only 2 of these mobs spawn at a time, but I got the item in 10 kills or so. I had previously tried farming Animated Pointers for about an hour without luck.

The best way to farm this is killing Segugio Animato at around 63.6 49.8 in Maldraxxus.

However, you don't just want to kill the Segugio Animato because it takes too long for them to respawn this way. Also kill the Discepolo Morboso since they share a spawn.

Once you killed enough mobs in the area they will force spawn. Did this yesterday on my low geared level 70 rogue and you can basically kill them non stop this way.

Took me around 1-2 hours and 350 kills.

I had no success with the animated pointers, but blazing forgehound dropped it for me in less than 10 minutes. This mob is unfortunately only up during the Spider on the Wall world quest, but they respawn very quickly.

Not sure if the drop rate has been increased or I just got incredibly lucky. Was farming for this in Dragonflight patch 10.1.0 around /way 62.60 48.93 in Maldraxxus just killing everything in the area and it took no more than 10 minutes to drop. Best of luck to any still after it, hopefully they've improved it since SL release!
