I got these from the Runic Warriors south of Arom's Stand in Drustvar at nearly a 100% drop rate. I do not have Jewelcrafting and they are BOP. That is the extent of where they or I can be helpful.

I also got these from the Runic Warriors south of Arom's Stand. They did seem to drop one a piece. I attempted to Prospect a stack of them, as the description hints at, but after the cast bar finished, I got the error message "Item cannot be disenchanted". No idea what this is, and I'm fairly certain I never got these items before today.

Cannot be disenchanted by enchanters either. Same drop as others have mentioned.

This item is only prospectable during the Jewelcrafting Tools of the Trade quest, High Prospects. Similar to ore, you will need to prospect 5 at a time in order to obtain the Pristine Kubiline Shards necessary to complete the quest.
If you find yourself unable to prospect them while on High Prospects, make sure you've clicked on the dead Runic Warrior the waypoint takes you to.

im a JC and i cant do anything w/ them, arent u supposed to r. click on them or something to "prospect" the Pristine Kubiline Shards they drop from thr runic war. Some help please.TY

TLDR: vendor trash if your not a JC on the tools of the trade quest.

After completing the quest for the tool it still drop but no longer can prospect. Vendor trash imao.

That has been fixed.

As of 8.1.19 these items still drop from mobs. As a JC and having completed the quest that these are for, there does not seem to be any other use for them.

On questing in Drustvar I got 23 of these - made a prospecting-macro using these - lvl'ed in Kul Tiran JC from 0 -17, then the lvl'ing stopped. Funny thing was. when finished at JC lvl 17, I still got 23 of these in my bags and no Pristine Kubiline Shards. Even after relogging.

Starting from Kul Tiran JC level 1, I found 12 of these while questing. I spammed my prospecting macro on them and they were never destroyed when prospecting them, though I received level-ups. I managed to get to Kul Tiran JC level 25 before I stopped receiving level-ups. It seems that at around Kul Tiran JC level 15, prospecting one of these becomes equivalent to a yellow or green craft, because I didn't get a level for every craft. Once I hit level 25, I stopped receiving level-ups, even after attempting to prospect them constantly for a minute or so more. I still have all 12 Runic Cores in my bags.

These are apparently not prospectable despite the flavor text that says "You may be able to prospect it out."

~ HOWEVER ~

I was able to use Prospect on them and it didn't consume them, I get an error in red that says "Item cannot be disenchanted". But by doing this, I was able to increase my JC from 1 to 25 by just repeatably prospecting it.
