I personally find this zone to be one of the better grind zones in the game, or rather the region. Starting with the Yeti's in Hillsbrad, which is just south of the Alterac Mountains around level 31-33, you can grind there for a few levels, then switch to the Alterac yeti's around levels 34-37, then you can kill the ogres from levels 37-39. If you are a Skinner, this area is a must for leveling since you can get a good amount of leather from the Yeti's as well as decent cash and greens from the yeti's and ogres. Overall, even if it is somewhat boring to grind mindlessly, I find that between levels 31-39, this area is probably the fastest area to grind those levels.

Alterac Mountain is a great place to go if you need any mining supplies in the Iron - Mithril range, even to sell. There are a large amount of ore nodes around the mountain range with copper and tin surrounding it in Hillsbrad.

Alterac City was destroyed after the second war. The leader, Lord Perenolde, was siding secretly with the Horde, offering them information and resources in exchange to let the kingdom stand.

The Kirin Tor found out and wouldn't stand for it. Dalaran dispatched mages and they helped to tear parts of the city apart. King Terenas was going to offer the city to Lord Prestor as a wedding gift for marrying Terenas's daughter, but Prestor was Deathwing in disguise and suddenly disappeared, never claiming the princess or the city.

Afterwards, the plague took a hold of the city and it slowly fell apart from there, where Ogres now rein amongst the ruins.

Peronally i always level my character here.

Be it Horde or Alliance, i will always make sure that i grind in this zone from around 33 to about 38, and if i can get a duo/group going, i will grind the Elite ogres untill about level 43.

This is how i work:

33-35: Mountain yetis, levels 33-34
35-38: Ogres (Non-Elite) levels 35-37.
38-42: Ogre's (Elite) (Just above the Non elite ogres) Levels 37-41.

This is one of my favorite zones in the game, mostly because it is such a peaceful, serene region. Especially Dandred's Fold and the Uplands, if only those pesky Syndicate operatives would leave. Also, Strahnbrad is probably my favorite "town" in the game just because I love the ghost town feel. If only the Alliance could take it back.

I also level my characters from around 33 to 40 here. There are tons of mobs to kill, and they all respawn relatively fast.

this place are great for ppl mining and skinning i made my first 200g here killing and walking around the mountain a great place 2 train and make money and ogres have good drops 2 for that lvl yeti drop ironweaver quite often 2(its 20-30g on ah)
and the hordes around here are very friendly 2

This zone would be great.. only if there were a little more quests for both sides. Sure grinding is great but its the most inefficient way to level. If there were 5 or 6 more quests then this zone would be perfect.

I beleive that this is the only zone to get the Herb Wintersbite.
It is quiet not much PvP action going around here but if you are willing to enter this zone from hillsbrad foothills you have to be ready to get past ogres that are about 35-38.
The syndicate drop good money here too.

The Alterac Mountains are home to many powerful Ogres and to the Dalaran. While standing on the northwest shores of the area, a person can see over the grim canopy of Silverpine Forest, a land filled with the walking dead. Yeti hold most of the high, snow-filled areas of Alterac, while the mages of Dalaran and the dangerous Syndicade control the lowlands.

Getting into Dalaran is easy, and any class/level can do it. (This is 1.9)

Step 1: Use your Hearthstone.
Step 2: Go to the outside of Dalaran.
Step 3: Get right up against the bubble thing, facing it.
Step 4: Use auto-unstuck. (this is why it only works while your hearthstone is cooling down, as the auto-unstuck will attempt to teleport you a few feet forward, similar to the mage's blink spell.)

And you're in! It may not work the first time, as happened with me. In that case, wait 5 minutes and try again from another point along the edge of the energy/forcefield thing.

I have spotted Narillasanz the level 44 Elite Dragon that shows up as ? Skull. He was spotted in Dalaran on 7 April 2006. Went from the mountain yettis to the enternement camp and spotted me stealhed and 1 hit killed me. havent been able to find him since. Location: 37,66 Alterac

I am proud to say i have seen the Red Dragon, it was skull elite for me at the time and have seen it 3 times flying backwards and forwards just near the place were the warriors summon cyclonion for that 2H axe quest. The red instance is Alteric Valley a Battle Field and OMG you guys are noobs (No Offense Intended). Dalaran was destroyed by Archimond after he was summoned by Kel'thuzard using the book of Midhiv that opened the portal, so the portal should still remain. My bet is the Wizards of Dalaran are rebulding the City and i recon it will be opened in the expansion for mages to do a quest that allows them to open a portal to outland, maybe it will be an Mage version of Moonglade who knows? What ever the answer it still represents that what we know of the WarCraft World is very little and that WOW will be a major competetor for MMOMRPG far into the future.

the reason why there is a big purple sphere is because 1. after archimonde completely destroyed it, wizards from dalaran, ironforge, stormwind and the human alliance arrive to dalaran to rebuilt it because archimonde destroyed it but left the foundations.. and also when you go there, there will be dalaran guards guarding it while the wizards are building it with those golems and their magics, and 2. you can't see anything in it because blizzard didn't confirmed it yet, in probably will put it in the Burning Crusade..

i finally found him the best way is go around the Alterc Ruins there is a back entrance from the right side of the building once over stay to the left and hug the wall be carefull with the elites,should only take u a few seconds to get to the stone wall,there u will see bro'kin on top,of course u can always do the hard way thru the front and i dont recommend it unless u are a lvl 50 good luck

if you enter strahnbrad directly from the road, he's in the big building in the back with the steps leading up to the entrance. He will drop the key.

Gol'Dir is in the second building on the left as you enter strahnbrad from the road. He is upstairs, to the right in the room.

actually dalaran is gonna be the city from the new expansion ... Wrath of the Lich King ..... The city will probably be located in Northreand and will be the equivalent of TBC's Shattrath....

Yea that place is totaly empty nothing exept dirt and all those screenshots are just the buildings that are on the other side of the shield cause the shield is invisible from the inside u can only see the sparkles from it

Okay, in the upcoming expansion (Wrath of the Lich King) Dalaran will be moved to NORTHREND, floating in the sky. It will be a neutral city (equivalent to Shattrath), and is rumored to be led by Rhonin (a powerful Kirin'Tor mage). There.

Anyone know how to get inside the bubble? I'm guessing there isn't a way, but if there were, it would almost have to be a tunnel. No luck as of yet finding a tunnel, but who knows..

I assume they are going to make it into something, perhaps a city for the new alliance race, I dunno. If they didnt plan to do something, they would have just put a load of old ruins there.

For anyone who is wondering where it is lol, its not to terribly hard to find. I was stupered before I came to this webpage and saw Alterac Mountains in parentheses hehe... Anyhow yeah go to Southshore and basicaly go directly NW into the Alterac Mountains, you'll see a bunch of Dalaran named Alliance NPC's and a huge purple glowing bubble heh. Peace out!

i think the wizards created the bubble to protect the most important houses when the horde attacked the town. or whatever destroyed the houses.

I can't wait to see what Dalaran is going to look like-assuming that it will be in the exp. pack(I shouldn't assume anything, I know)- but I can't wait to take my gnome mage there. Maybe they'll turn it into a neutral city or a ruined instance. Who knows for sure.

This will probably beocome an instance in the future. I'm imagining that some goblins decide to to help the Horde/Alliance attack Dalaran and drill a deep hole into the basement of one of the buildings sticking out of the bubble. The goblins don't care which faction goes into the bubble, they just want money. Anyway you go into the basement through the tunnel, climb up into the building, walk to the inside of the bubble side an ur in the dungeon. I guess the instance would like be the palace where the Dalaran leader is or something. OR it could be winged and another instance is like the training halls? or the nursery(would they have Dalaran children?)? well thats pretty much what i think.

If Dalaran was a dungeon, the big boss will be lord Garithos version undead. Some parts there will be mutants and undead warriors. And others parts they will be crazy humans fighting for nothing. Undead archmage like Antonidas or other Conjurus Rex. They will be a frost wyrm and some nerubians, and of course the experiments that the mage have failed. I know that its not possible but the Dalaran dungeon where Kael'thas and his blood elfs have escape to outland should be an idea.

Just as the portal behind the giant dragon in Duskwood leads nowhere, this mysterious bubble is most likely something that will become something in a future expansion. Blizzard knows they have to keep expanding the game otherwise they will start losing interest with their millions of players. By the way, as of today (to my knowledge) Blizzard has not yet released any details about when or what the next expansion will be, however they have said new expansions might build on existing areas already in the game.

As for mages being able to get inside, it's probably just a bug with the game since there is nothing but one ruined house inside and nothing else. Or maybe it was an intentional "bug" to help satify curiousity. I like what SubSidal posted, "Later on the wizards of the Kirin Tor (Dalaran's leaders) created the bubble to rebuild their glorious city...", well maybe one day the city will be rebuit =)

Actually DjKuja... The Horde didnt attack Dalaran... The Undead Scourge (Note: Not the Forsaken), led by Arthas attacked Dalaran, and then Archimonde destroyed it almost completely... Later on the wizards of the Kirin Tor (Dalaran's leaders) created the bubble to rebuild their glorious city...

i was intrigued when i saw this from the top of Alterac Mountains so i glided down and manage to blink inside and take a screenshot but it is completly empty like mizoto said. Here is the screenshot. Actually it is quite easy to go inside i did it many times. You have to stand on top of a small piece of house floor around 13,74, run toward the dome and blink before touching it. Theres probably other ways to do it too.

Actually there is one building inside, i tought it was outside from the distance but you can see here its right at the limit

For those of you who want to know how to get inside Dalaran. Note: I am a mage that used blink to get inside and am not sure if classes other than mages are able to get in...

Also: For you mages, bring some light feathers. I used slowfall to get in although there are other ways other than mine.

First, I went to the location: (23, 71) which is on top of a small hill as seen here.

Then I activated the Slowfall ability, mounted up, and jumped for the building bording the protective shield. Dismount, get close, and blink through. Just keep walking and you're inside. Very simple.

Here is a screenshot of me inside.

Also, try getting on the side of a building and blinking through. It works in quite a few places. Hope this helped. ^_^

Something that I always thought was strange in WoW, being a fantasy game with magic and such, was the lack of variety in ammunition. Sure there's different ammo, but it's all strictly differentiated by damage. Why is that?

Why not have some special arrows? There are some arrows 'named' ice arrows, but they should add ice damage! Make some ice, fire, lightning arrows. Now, I know that you probably couldn't add stun, sleep, or blinding arrows because of balance issues, but it sure seems natural that in a world of magic and enchantments, people would be doing all sorts of fun things to their ammunition.

It would probably make it more expensive, but that kind of variety would be fun. Also, why not make a few arrow enchants? You enchant a stack of ammo with +1 damage stinging or something.

Maybe we'd see a few more than random crap someone has spammed off to raise tradeskill in the auctionhouse!
