By doing only this quest does not lead you to the next of the chain(https://www.wowhead.com/classic/quest=5742) you have to finish ALL of the 3 killing quests he gives... then he'll be impressed enough to tell you his grandpa tale.

You can get the cabin by going straight north along the stream when you come when you come into Eastern from Western plaguelands. Thott loc is 7,43 in Eastern Plaguelands.

Yeah, not one single piece of meat. I don't even get the kills when I'm killing the dogs and the bats either(yes, I've checked their name and it's the right type).

I'm not having any problems with these first three quests . . other than its very boring and takes a while to complete. I picked up one 'larval acid' and a couple green drops that went up on the auction house. The maggot meat drop rate was about 40% for me. The long lasting maggot slime was irritating but didn't slow me down much. I was still able to acquire maggot meat while slimed.

These worms are pretty gimp. The only thing that bothered me was the half-hour long ATK debuff.

btw, when I got this quest the guy was right outside some building towards Hearthglen in WPL, but he wasn't there when I went back. He was up by a house at 7,43 by the river in EPL.

Hi - people are asking about him bouncing around. There is a gravestone with his name on it behind the Undercroft. It will highlight as you mouse over it - but I have been unable to interact with it.

It's also interesting that the horse by him at the cottage is named Mirador.

He is north in the river between E. and W. Plaguelands as stated above.

They drop on every other kill to me, sometimes on each kill, so drop rate is around 50%

These monsters can be found throughout the eastern plaguelands. There seems to be no concentrated area of them, so good luck in finding more than one or two in an area. I am not sure if the level 61 elite Borelgore drops this quest item or not.

The de-buff others were discussing was a disease called Maggot Slime that can last for thirty minutes. It does:

Melee attack power reduced by 50
Ranged attack power reduced by 50

As a priest, I noticed no damage decrease with my wand, so I guess the ranged attack power relates to crossbows, bows, and guns.

Was doing it just for giggles at 60. Carrion Devourer dropped a Hammer of the Northern Wind. First epic I've ever seen soloing.

What a big maggot is doing with an epic mace, I do not know.

I made 40g off Tirion's three initial quests between the larval acid drops, greens that I DE's, and vendor junk. Plus the q's are a prereq for a decent blue.

Don't know if its a fluke or not but the drop rate seems to be much better just east of the river that divides E and W plaguelands.

The drop rate on this is hell for me.

When I first got the quest, I got four meat right off the bat, and then I needed to log to do some stuff, so I hearthed, logged, and didn't come back for a bit. Now, I've killed about 300 of those bastard maggots and no more meat.

OMFG, this quest is pissing me off bad. I got the first 14 with 13 kills (one dropped 2)

Now I've killed another 100 at LEAST and not another one at all. A lot of greens and 4 larval acids, but dammit, I am sick of running all around eastern plaguelands killing these nasty maggots. I'm gonna log and come back and hopefully I'll get one.

Well this is how it goes for any gathering quest that you can get the same item from different mobs; the higher the level, the higher the drop rate. This comes into play with this quest. Do not waste your time as I, and many others, did by killing the lower level "carrion grubs." Instead, take my advice and be smart! Kill the Carrion Devouers Near the Northpass Tower that can, and often do, drop more than one at a time. Easy exp.

Guys idk where you are going but i got them each kill. drop rate was amazing. I got them in the same area as the runts... around 34,70 and they dropped one after the next and boom done. If you get all 3 quests you can do pretty much all of them at the same time. Getting the carrions however is the tough part. Along with not aggroing the many pats around you! Have fun :D

i don't care what dropped, or who was in your party, or how long it took or ANYTHING related to that. Coords + Details work great. Grow out of it and please list this for once.

this quest doesn't quite lead to the rest of the chain, you have to complete the other two as well.

the maggots have a nasty 30min disease debuff which reduces both ranged and melee attack power by 50, so i'd recommend just doing the maggots until you complete it, then going back and killing everything for the other two quests. if you're lucky, you'll get all your maggotty meat before the second application of the disease wears off, and your very last one won't reapply a fresh disease at 5% health >.<

The droprate on these things really sucks. Accordning to this site it is supposed to be 35% dr. I have killed Carrion Grubs for 2 hours now and have gotten 2 slabs...

Farm these north of Blackwood Lake. There are also plenty of the Frenzied Plaguehounds in the area for Demon Dogs. You can also grab the Skull of Horgus if you have the quest at this time.

Don't waste your time with the Carrion Grubs. Hunt the Devourers up north instead: the drop rate is spectacular and there's even a chance you get two slabs from a single kill.

Managed to get 1 out of 15 kills, so...I got that going for me..which is nice..
