As a priest, I tend to use this when I'm about half-way on mana during what I know will be a drawn out fight (whether it be a boss or when you accidentally aggro more then intended) to make sure I don't have to waste a mana potion.

Hard to say whether I would call it essential, but I can't imagine playing without it now :)

The issue you'll face with Marli's Eye lies in math. It is not effective for a raiding priest to use this in relation to the much more easily obtained Mindtap Talisman (you can two man farm it with the right composition as a priest).

Grants 11 mana per 5 seconds.
In 3 minutes, there would be 36 cycles times 11 mana per cycle is equivalent to 396 mana over 3 minutes.

Marli's Eye gives 60 mana per 5 seconds for 30 seconds every 3 minutes. This is 360 mana.

Therefore, Mindtap Talisman proves more useful and economic in terms of available for raiding trinkets (which is the reason you should have Marli's Eye). I will agree though, it does serve it's purpose in PvP when I need to get that last spell off. However overall, it's always been a shard to me.

10 mana / 5 sec

So it's not as good as mindtap, and you have to constantly be clicking it every 3 min on top of that.

You need to keep in mind two things

A. If you use this twice right at the beginning and right when it's cooldown expires, you'll have more regen than a mindtap.

B. There are times when it can be very useful - e.g. after sons of flame burn off many and you need to pop everything you've got to regen.

In general though, yes, a mindtap is better, but this is by no means junk.

so ok its not unique, we all know what that means ( you can wear 2 ) but if you use one does it set off the cd of the other, if it does does it sec off the second wind tinkets cd also ?

if it didn't 660 or 720 mana in 30 seconds would be nice esp after being mana drianed

I had almost lost hope in the mathematical ability of Warcraft player... That is until the last poster!

This item is, hands down, better than the mindtap. My guess is that if you were to have two that they'd share the same timer. So the ultimate mana regen may now be this and a mindtap. Though I've never calculated the power of the Darkmoon Card: Blue Dragon, and I have a feeling it would outdo either of these.

Equip: 2% chance on successful spellcast to allow 100% of your Mana regeneration to continue while casting for 15 sec.

flash heal = 380 mana/cast * 50 casts = 19,000 mana spent/proc

assuming that
1) a tick = 2.5 seconds
2) priests regen at a 3 spirit per 1 mana a tick rate ((what most ui-mods assume)all other classes are 4 spirit gives 1 mana a tic)
3) each fight lasts 3 min.
4) priest only casts flash heal, if shield and renew are added OMG this proc will get way better

should proc about every 2 combats (9k+ mana/fight easy, because anyone who spends the time to get this is prob fairly well equiped allready)

with 400 spirit you would gain 133 mana/2.5 sec tic plus a base of aprox 13/2.5 sec tic
This would = 1k+ mana/proc aproximatly
(300 spirit would give 791 per proc, about 400 mana per combat)

This would average out to 500 mana/fight

So yes this should be better than both the mindtap and Mar'li's Eye.

For fights that last ~2.8 minutes or less, this is better. For fights that last longer than that, mindtap talisman is better.

If you cannot regularly last in those short fights with just your gear, you need better gear. This trinket is for those people.

Mindtap talisman will ALWAYS be better than this in every situation except against mobs that mana burn. This trinket is useless in short duration fights because you most likely won't be running out of mana.

Yeah, too bad they're on a shared cooldown so it would be completely pointless to have two.

I'd definately choose Mar'li's Eye + Mindtap over 2xMindtap...

Think about a 9min fight... For 7 of those 9 mins you have more mana over 2xMtap, and the fight would have to end in the following timings:-

2mins45secs - 3mins... 15secs
5mins30secs - 6mins... 30secs
8mins15secs - 9mins... 45secs
10mins55secs - 12mins... 105secs

So for a 12minute fight, you have more mana with Meye + Mtap for 8mins45secs of that time - and you don't need a fight to end in the above time slots for it to be more effective.

Dropped last night for me. It pretty much is a free potion. It gives you 360 mana over 30 seconds but only has a 3 minute cool down.

Compared to mind tap talisman:

Mind tap gives 396 over 3 minutes.
This gives 360 over 3 minutes.

Only difference is that 360 is over 30 seconds, so it's good for burst.

But if you think about it this way, it gives 720 mana over 3 and a half minutes :P

the only ppl who say this sux r noobs, i use this at all instances, this boosted my mana regen rate by alot, pop it during begining of fight. since i got this thing, i NEVER runs out of mana in battles. if u say this sux, u sux

oh yeah this is a great trinket for priests/pallies/shammies... great mana boost for when u need it but having both a lvl 60 priest and hunter id use this as a hunter... why you ask? if a hunter dont have to FD+drink that means more constant DPS and leading on the damage meters only havin to FD to dump aggro makes hunters giant mechian guns that dont pull threat... mages and locks would have a totally hard time keeping up with a hunter with insane mana regen... just keep that in mind b4 u jump on us hunters ass...just cause we can use alot of stuff and benifit from it dont mean we are all ninjaz :D

Imo the best combo for regen is this and mindtap. A quik boost can be damn handy. It sucks when your on 2k mana left and some stupid shammy call at nef drains it all away, then a quik boost is damn nice. They prolly share a cooldown so dont bother getting to. As for hunters, you can have it if no other class wants it. Hunters can FD and drink and they dont have allot of mana so it doesnt take ages to get your mana full. Other classes on the other hand cant FD and drink and they NEED manaregen to keep your sorry ass alive.
All in all its close to mindtap, yes mindtap regens more but a short boost can be damn handy sometimes trust me. So i would say that this and mindtap is about the best combo out there.

This trinket is the best you can get pre BWL..
Mindtap Talisman is very good...but can't even compare it with this....

And btw...it stackes with Innervate (probably Evocation to but havn't tested)

Mar'li's Eye last 30 sec and gives 360 mana
Innervate lasts 20 sec and increases mana regen by 400% and you'll get spirit bonus as if you where out of combat
So if you pop this then Innervate 4secs later you'll get 240 mana from the trinket X 4!
That's 960 mana over 20 sec and ANOTHER 120 over 10 sec from this trinket only! 1080 mana!
This combo has a 6 min cooldown though..

Don't know if people realize that this trinket is probably only worth while for someone who is going for lots of mp/5. By itself the trinket doesn't seem very useful given that you only get 360 mana back in 30 seconds but it really does shine through when you consider the fact that someone who already has say 40 mp/5 (not very high) will regenerate 600 mana in 30 seconds. For any class who doesn't have a form of mana regen (Priest) this is an awesome item.

Suppose a Shadow Priest has 40 mp/5 and goes with a Mindtap which would be 51 mp/5, so after 30 seconds he has 306 mana returned, whereas 40 mp/5 and Mar'li's Eye the regen would be 600 as stated above. Not many people are going to spend soo much time in a single fight.

The best bet would be an alternation of the two items for the BG scenario so while youre waiting on the cooldown for ME you have Mindtap out.

The mindtap talisman indeed regens more mana, but the power of the eye is that it gives the mana in bigger bursts.

There's a difference between getting 360 mana in 30 seconds, and getting 396 mana in 3 minutes.

I'll gladly sacrifice that 36 less mana each 3 min for that. Also, it does not invoke the universal 1 second cooldown timer when you activate it, so you can instantly cast spells.

DM trinket is still superior over this:

With Naxxaramas's enraged timer, this has becomes much more useful. Fights like Patchwerk, Faerlina are all relatively short and this trinket beats out Mindtap Talisman.

The DM-trinket goes on and on even out of combat and at full mana..

Short fights = this is much better!
Long fights = mindtap is a little better, not much.

So IMO this one is better overall

This amazing item drops of High Priestess Mar'li. Mar'li is the fourth boss located in the Zul Gurrub Instance. Her aspect is that of the "spider" her area is found in just under that of Mandokir and is easily recognizable by the webbing that fills the area.

This thing dropped for us last night in ZG. It has a 3 min cooldown. This item should be better imo. Maybe some added stats plus the use. A pally won it cuz his trinkets werent exactley up to date.

Tough, I don't think any guild needs to be so tight about it, it's not like giving this trinket to a hunter would be a big waste or anything, even hunters can make good use of it and it's not like you need to have your guild collecting Elementium ores week after weeks for one of these. And if you ask me, I prefer trinkets that I don't need to keep clicking to make them work, get a Mindtap Talisman and the Dire Maul trinket quest trinket."

ok first off, balance druids = good dps, but not above shamans
in my guild, im a full blue shaman, and i out-dps most of the rogues in the guild, in MC, on things like baron...

conclusion? elemental shamans can do AMAZING dps, if played correctly + has the right gear

the question is as long as its not unique so u can have more than 1 when u use it (if u have the second also^^) can u use it at the same time or when u use one the unused second one also has a 3min cooldown? tricky question this is :)
