It is nice that it can proc back to back, and during Anub FoK phases, it's always up. On 25 Saurfang, Invigoration gave a little over one-third the energy that Relentless Strikes (2/5) returned.

EDIT 12/11: Running 10 Man ICC today, Invigoration produced over one-half the energy that RS gave. Also I found the proc refreshing itself often.

EDIT 12/12: 25 ToC Champions and Twins, I was getting the same 1/2+ regen. EJ is starting to post some theories on the proc, but nothing seems solid as of yet.

I noticed this weapon is not unique, and for a second was very exited about the energy gaining possibilities. But I am wondering if the buff from one weapon would just over write the buff from the second weapon. It will probably be a bit before some one has two of these to test it out.

With the reported 80% up time during aoe phases, two of these (if the buffs do stack instead of over writing) could be absurd for rogues.

Any one have any input on this idea?

Over the course of the past week, I've received logs from 7 different individuals - thanks to all of you who've helped. However, I have to give a special thank you to Greymist, who sent me 2 gigantic logs last night which helped put the final pieces in the picture.

Combining all 0-haste no-OH logs I've received together, I have a total of 815 procs in 27739 attacks; this works out to a 95% confidence interval of 2.74% to 3.14%. Comparing this to the second log Greymist sent me last night, consisting of 719 procs in 23888 attacks, for a confidence interval of 2.79% to 3.23% with 3/3 LR and 726 haste rating.

Right off the bat, we see that, despite a 30% difference in haste, there's certainly no *major* effect on the proc rate. We can't say there's *no* difference just by eyeballing it, but it's certainly not a 30% difference. So we're feeling pretty comfortable that this is not a haste-adjusted proc rate. And just to be sure, we run a Fisher Exact test on this data, and get a p value of .64 for the hypothesis that there's no difference between the two proc rates. Hence, we conclude that Heartpierce proc rate is unaffected by haste. That is, it's going to proc at the same rate with or without haste, and, as such, uptime is improved by increasing haste.

Thus, we combine all data from all 1-weapon sets I've received, resulting in 2104 procs in 69790 attacks, for a 95% confidence interval of 2.89% to 3.14%. This nicely brackets 3% as the proc rate, which is conveniently equal to the hypothesized 1 PPM proc rate.

Combining all data from 1.8/1.4 DW data sets I've received, I have 12768 attacks and 329 procs. This yields a proc rate of 2.58% - well outside the range predicted by the 1H proc rate. Hence, we know the proc rate isn't a fixed 3%; thus, we can only conclude that it is a PPM.

Statistically speaking, if this is a PPM enchant as we have conjectured, it is expected that 7182 of these are OH attacks, accounting for 164.5 procs, which would lead to an estimated proc rate of 1.94% to 2.64% in the OH. Alternately, Mavanas wrote some scripts to actually pick apart the logs and count swings + procs for each hand; he came up with 7175 attacks and 179 procs, for a 95% confidence interval of 2.13% to 2.86%. Either way, the expectation based on the 1 PPM theory - 2.33% - is nicely within the range.

Finally, I have a data set with a 2.6 OH, showing 159 procs in 3903 attacks; again, using statistical methods, this works out to an expectation of 79.5 procs in 1597 attacks, for an expected proc rate of 3.91% to 6.05%, which again, includes the expected 4.33% we predict with the 1 PPM theory.

Thus: as near as we can tell, Heartpierce is a 1 PPM proc off both equipped weapons.

I got this today, first testing on toc25 shows about 600dps drop from last week fights, even tho this energy buff had about 75% uptime (I was previously using hc twin spike). I wish there was a bit more info about this somewhere.
edit: after the buff this dagger might be even better than the hc twin spike

Going to confirm that wielding two of these does not grant two invigoration buffs, procs from the other weapon merely reset the duration.

As it stands, this weapon needs to be buffed. It's a downgrade from ToGC25 weapons and only barely an upgrade from ToC25 weapons, which means it won't even be able to compare once Ribspreader is available.

Would it only be good to switch to 51/18/2 if you have this weapon? Or is 51/18/2 just better than 51/12/7 in general now?

The proc was stealth patched today (Jan 5th) and is now 4 energy/2 rage/120 mana, improving it considerably; it is now best-in-slot by a small but noticable margin.

@Nesingwary80: 51/18/2 has been, as Samdeath said, superior to other specs since 3.3. Mutilate makes up a tiny portion of your damage, devaluing opportunity, so that and full Relentless Strikes isn't as good as extra haste and crit from CQC and Lightning Reflexes.

The Invigoration buff from melee attacks using the Heartpierce dagger will now grant twice as much resources as before. It now grants 2 rage, 4 energy, or 120 mana every 2 seconds for 10 seconds.

Given that this is now BIS according to theorycrafters (after the recent buff), it is likely this dagger will stay BIS unless it is nerfed. The reasoning being that the proc will cause it to scale much better as gear increases than say, the static stat bonuses on rib spreader.

Got this last night and am very impressed with the proc thus far. Seems to be no internal cooldown, with windfury totem keping my haste up the uptime of the buff was at 88% on Saurfang 25, but obviously a fight like this makes it hard to really gauge the effectiveness of the proc, as rarely can a rogue stand still and dps non stop. Regardless, great dagger.

This has the same model as https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=50793 except for the colour. I find it quite lazy of blizzard to make caster/melee weps often look alike, just changing colours, but then again that might just be me. Nevertheless i think it's a neat looking weapon, and i guess berserking doesn't make that fact worse. No one made mention about this not procing off of poison damage anymore so I figured I'd say something.

Blizzard nerfed all proc. based items / enchants so that they will no longer proc. from poison damage. So this and TAJ have dropped in value for rogues. It's still above the 10 man MH dagger (bloodsipper) , but now below Lungbreaker (the 25 man 1.4 speed dagger) and both TogC 25 daggers.

For Mutilate spec rogues my friend suggested putting this in your Main Hand and enchanting it with Berserking. Use Evenom to proc Invigoration.
