The Argent Tournament is an event where the crusaders decided to stop their campaign against the undead so that they could build an arena and play games. As mentioned in a comment above this one, there are several rewards that can be bought with Champion's Seal (the very item this page is about).

During patch 3.1, the horde and the alliance will help in the construction of the arena, most likely through daily quests.

During patch 3.2, the arena will be finished, but very little info has been released about the quests or rewards that will be offered with the arena.

According to a blue, the tournament is not going to be a pvp event.

It would seem so far that it will be very easy to acquire ilvl 200 epic weapons. It looks as though currently you can get four Champion's Seals per day - although the quests are not active yet, the database shows two dailies with 1 CS rewarded for each and one group quest daily with a 2 CS reward. So just under a week for a weapon, or a month of dailies to get a mount. Or a full quarter of a year's worth of dailies for a flying mount, to the exclusion of all other mounts and rewards. Hmm.

Of course, none of this is set in stone yet, as you can't earn CS yet on the PTR, let alone live. It is certainly possible, likely even, that 3.2 will bring with it additional dailies that offer CS rewards, making getting the mounts, pets and tabards a little bit easier in the long run. At four CS per day, it would take 300 days worth of dailies to cover every non-combat reward possible.

EDIT: Regarding that ilvl200 epic weapon.... It is, technically, the same ilvl as Naxxramas weapons, but most people who walk into Naxx should already have a weapon of that level from crafters. So it's less "free Naxx gear" and more "free crafted gear", which will only hurt professions - particularly Blacksmithing - in the long run.

While your "stop fighting to play games" crack is humorous and understandable, I feel that having tested and explored some content that I should address some of the subtle "lorelol" concerns in your statement Mecyr...your summation is more or less accurate, but to write it all off as a farce on the part of the crusade ignores a lot of logic and history; real world history, not just WoW history. Do not underestimate the place of the tournament in Western culture.

First off, why a tournament? Well, sporting is one of the oldest and most well known aspects of medieval life. Imagine for a second what our views of the Dark Ages would be like without knights in shining armor; without maidens and dragons and sword fights and jousting; without castles and games and flags and banners and seals of our lords and coats of arms and noble houses. Now translate it to Warcraft. Say what you want about what place in time Warcraft's fictional world is based off of...the game (Warcraft), despite all its hints of steam punkery and engineering randomness, is still very much just another rehash of the stereotypical middle ages Euro-scene of Arthurian Legend. Tournaments were everything to certain individuals in those times. In some cases, wars would be put on hold so that the lords that commanded the armies could compete in the tournaments. As Merlin puts it in The Once and Future King, people have always had, and always will have a sense of "games mania." Why have it in Warcraft? Well, if you look at the rewards for the tournament, it is something to keep us entertained. So you don't need the epic rewards? Get the mounts! Something for everyone. Even if you don't enjoy the mounted combat so much, just watching someone fight is surprisingly entertaining in and of itself. It was a pastime for any and all that considered themselves professional soldiers of any merit in real life, and that is what our characters are in the story arc of WoW...soldiers in our race's standing army of one kind or another. Jousting fits into the whole mood nicely, and makes a great backdrop for a longstanding permanent event...what better way to give medieval mystical soldiers a past-time than the very sport practiced by all real life soldiers of that age...it's a hobby for our characters, much like it was for the lords and fighters of yore! (Romanticized much?)

Why have it hosted by the Argent Crusade? Why now? We have a Lich King to kill! Think about it...upon entering Northrend the Horde and Alliance were beginning to work together, they decided to head to Northrend together...by the time you get to the Wrath Gate, Bolvar and Saurfang the Younger are on first name basis with each other, and the attacks of the Alliance and the Horde are concerted. It all shot to hell after Wrathgate though...so the Argent Dawn is trying to fix it with games diplomacy. This is also a common idea in real life. Peace accords have been drawn up over tournaments for centuries. Let our Champions and Lords duke it out in non-lethal contests, let the peasants drink and enjoy it while we work out our problems. Though it may seem arbitrary, go spend time digging around the Argent Tournament grounds...particularly in the little chapel thing they have set up. This is what the Crusade is driving at, and Blizzard made sure to make it clear to those that wish to take a look around that THIS is the intention of the whole thing. In a confessional with a priest, a human champion tells the priest that he feels bad for coming to play games while people suffer because of the scourge. The priest somewhat covertly says the entire thing is just a setup to get both the Horde AND the Alliance to STFU and fight Arthas. Eventually, they hope to get Wrynn (and the rest of the Alliance) to play nice with the Horde. The whole "selecting the strongest champions" thing seems to be an afterthought; a bonus point for reuniting the efforts of the Horde and Alliance once more; the two of which combined make one of, if not the largest and strongest standing military force in Azeroth. This is WoW's answer to the famous Nixon/Kissenger Ping Pong diplomacy. The Tournament is, in my opinion, very well done, and fits well into the increasingly deep story Arc that Wrath of the Lich King offers (deep in comparison to The Burning Crusade).

It's a matter of convenience from a game maker's perspective. Maybe it would have made more sense for a tournament ground in less hostile environments...but meh. Icecrown was fairly open still, and you didn't have to worry about how the crusade moved there, because they were more or less there already. Just stomp through some scourge and build the sonofa&*!@#!

So...where is this taking us? As stated by Blizzard, the patches of Wrath are set up to be in "acts" with defining story arc movements. Act one culminates between Malygos and the Nexus War and the Wrath Gate...act two focuses on Ulduar while we begin to investigate connections between us, the titans, the Old God Yogg-Saron, and the Lich King, and what exactly has played out between the Alliance and the Horde after the declaration of war and how the Crusade plans on mending the ties...we shall see what act three holds, but rest assured, if you go explore the tournament on the PTR in its current state, it feels much less arbitrary than I (and I am guessing the rest of you) initially thought.

Also, it's going to be a rip-roaring good time.

Yes, you must be exalted with any major cities aside from your own races in order to purchase mounts and item rewards. Every race has access to the Argent Hyppogryph flying mount though which looks pretty beastly if you ask me.

The tournament does have a background story to it and you will come across a quest line that involves the Cult of the Damned, a faction of warlocks and mages who are behind the Scourge invasion and are henchmen for the Lich King Arthas. You may have encountered them in numerous spots around Ice Crown, and they are interfering with the tournament by sending in the Black Knight to kill off the champions in an attempt to protect Arthas, but it is up to the members of the Horde and Alliance to defeat the Black Knight and become champions of the Argent Tournament.

So this tournament, is this a temporary event like the opening of the gates of AQ? Do all this and you can get cool stuff, but only until the tournament is over? Or will this be a permanent part of the game like the Isle? Or maybe its a seasonal thing?

From a lore prospective, building the tournament grounds right on the Lich King's doorstep is probably psychological, too. "Hey, jerk.. we're not scared of you and we're building an army of soldiers right under your nose!"

Perhaps you need to do the research tmptfate...

1st stage you need to earn 15 Aspirant seals, at 5 a day. So thats 3 days. On the 3rd day you could work on stage 2.

2nd stage you need to earn 25 Valiants seals, at 5 a day. So thats 5 days. Since you started on the same day as finishing stage 1 you end up taking 7 days to complete the first two stages and can start on stage 3.

3rd stage is when you can actually start earning Champion's seals, at 5 a day from dailies.

In between stages 2 and 3, you complete a quest that gives 10 Champion's Seals.

To reach 25, you'll need to earn another 15 which would be 3 more days of dailies.

Since again technically you can start that same day (the 7th day), it amounts to 9 days worth of dailies from the launch of the tournament till you have 25 tokens.

So say I become champion of my home city, do the dailies that reward champion seals become unavailable if you start over for another city? Or can you still do those in addition to becoming a champion for another city. I haven't been able to find anything concrete on this, and just want to make sure I'm planning everything right before I start.

Correct.

Horde can only buy items available to the horde (Wolf and Skeletal Horse mounts, for example), and visa versa with the alliance.

Each quartermaster has the same gear. The only different stuff is the faction's non-combat pet, the faction's mount, and the faction's tabard.

Assuming you are going after all mounts, tabards, pets, and banners it will take you 251 days of dailies from day 1 as a recruit.

If only for mounts = 146 days
if only for tabards = 46 days
if only for pets = 36 days

add on to those numbers if you're including more than one item type with these number of days:
+mounts = +150 days
+pets = +40 days
+tabards = +50 days
+banners = +15 days
+1 Epic = +5 days
+1 Rare = +2 days

This is assuming that the Stage 2 in 3.2 doesn't give additional Champion Seals (which it probably will).

Under the assumption you started on 3.1 release (April 14th 2009). The soonest you can achieve all vanity items is December 21, 2009 if you do them every day.

Okay I have a question, I wonder if anyone who got this far into the tournament on the PTR could answer it...

If I'm reading correctly, once you reach the champion level with your own racial faction, you can begin to earn 5 champions seals per day with daily quests. Furthermore, you can choose to become a valiant for any of the remaining 4 racial factions...

Now... what confuses me is how much of this one person can do at the -same- time...

Let me elaborate...

I'm a troll. Once I become a champion of Sen'jin, I plan to begin as a valiant of Undercity. Can I earn champion's seals under Sen'jin at the same time I earn valiant's seals for Undercity? Or does becoming an Undercity valiant then prohibit me from doing the champion level daily quests for Sen'jin?

Furthermore, if I'm -not- prohibited from doing champion quests for Sen'jin, once I also become a champion of Undercity, can I then do Champions daily quests for Undercity AND Sen'jin, earning 10 champions seals per day? Or are they set up in such a way that you can only earn a maximum of 5 per day, no matter how many factions you champion.

Bottom line is, I'm wondering if someone who eventually champions all 5 cities can earn a maximum of 25 champions seals per day, or if we're limited to 5 forever... because frankly, the idea of doing this until December to get all the rewards drives me mad, and I'm hoping there are ways to speed it up. (And if there aren't, I'm hoping Blizzard will have pity and add some.)

You can get this finished sooner if you have more than one level 80 character.

The vanity pets are BoE. So if you're going for everything on one character, you can have that character put his seals towards getting mounts/tabards while your other character gets the vanity pets and mails them to the first.

I've read all the comments on this page and the answer I was looking for wasn't exactly clear, so I'll ask here.

I'm an Exalted Champion of Silvermoon. I'm currently working on the Exalted Champion of Undercity achievement and plan to get the equivalent of said achievement with every other Horde faction. I can purchase all the rewards from the Silvermoon City quartermaster. Will I be able to purchase tabards and racial mounts from other vendors aside from the ones from Silvermoon City (as in, a Blood Elf buying the Swift Forsaken Warhorse or Undercity Tabards/Banners)?

My toon literally died of boredom several times doing the prequests for these (by flying off the edge of the world). None of the quests is particularly fun. They barely change from day to day. And you spend a lot of time flying from location to location.

Before you sink any time into these, visit your quartermaster (in the same tent where you get the quests), and see if anything you want is for sale. Realize that it will take 8 + n/5 days to get your first item where n is the cost of the item. In most cases, you are much better off running heroics.

For example, the only useful item (that I saw) for an enhancement shaman is the one-hand mace, which is barely better than the off-hand fists you can get for 50 heroic emblems.

I Do have a question if, since I'm Exalted Champion of Silvermoon, if I start the dailies for Undercity, am I able to do both the Champion dailies and Valiant dailies for Undercity?

My only reason for asking is that i want to work on My Argent Gryphon and Champion of the Horde Achievements.

Since I keep seeing this question asked, I'm going to say it here:
You CAN do the valiant dailies for a second city at the same time as the champion dailies.

They will NOT show up the same day you become a champion, however, if you did the valiant quests for your first faction that day (Unless your second faction has a different weapon quest than the first did, in which case that one quest will show up.)

What a bunch of "BALONEY" - all this stuff about it taking 251 days (to be exact) to earn all you need to from the Tournament. Blizz - get real! I'm an avid player and am on almost everyday, but I wont be chasing the unachievable!

After turning in 25 Valiant's Seal to your Faction, you are able to do certain Daily Quests that will allow you to earn Champion Seal. On the first day you can earn up to 15 of these, 10 of which come from a Chain Quest given after turning in 25 Valiant Seals.

After you do this, you will notice, a Yellow Exclamation mark, above every other faction's head, basically allowing you to choose which faction you can become a Champion with next.

For example, last night I finally turned in my 25 Valiant Seals, and started earning Champion Seals with Exodar (Draenei). After completing, a circle of Available quests appeared around the room, I decided to do Darnassus next, I accepted the quest Valiant of Darnassus which causes all the other Faction's quests to disappear. Yellow Question mark apppeared in front of this NPC immediately after, and after turning in, you are given the Daily Quest of turning 25 Valiant Seals for that faction.

Added Patch 3.2

Without luck from the Purse, 13 Champion Seals are currently the most amount able to be obtained per day. Heroics reset at different times than Daily quests, but they both have a 24 hour reset timer. They have added some mounts since previous patches. I'm ignoring all gold costs here, this comment is based on Champion Seals.

10 Ground Mounts altogether will cost 525 Champion Seals.
Argent Hippogryph costs 150 Champion Seals
Silver Covenant Hippogryph costs 150 Champion Seals
Argent Warhorse costs 100 Champion Seals
Argent Charger costs 100 Chamion Seals (PALADIN ONLY)
Faction Mount costs 100 Champion Seals

Total cost = 1025 Champion Seals, 1125 for a Paladin

If you are starting from 0 today, it would be 79 days to get the required Champion Seals for all of these mounts. 87 for a Paladin. This requires running Trial of the Champion everyday, for every boss on Heroic mode. It's very unlikley to go that many days without looting some from a Purse however.

103 days if you never run Trial of the Champion Heroic. 113 days for a Paladin, and you cannot find these in Trial of the Champion on Normal difficulty.

Confirmed, since a lot of questions are asking : you can do Vaillant quest for another city as soon as you reach champion status to your city. The only reason the quest won't show up is because you probably did these today to reach champion, therefore they will only starts again tomorrow. The only quest that may be avaible is the weapon quest if it is not the same (for example i had the quest with the frogs as vaillant for stormwind, hit champion status, done champions quest, gets ironforge vaillant quest weapon near lake drak'mar.

What about if You're already exalted for 1 or more factions already? My paladin is exalted with Silvermoon and Undercity and has been since level 40ish for the undead horse a few patches ago. How will this affect her movement through the quest chains?

It works like this:

You have to gain Champion for your home city first (Darnassus in my case).
I hit Champion for my home city yesterday and picked up Valiant for Ironforge (cheaper repairs). You get to pick which city you want to go next.

I could only pick up the Valiant Seals quest first, as I had already completed the Valiant Dailies.

Today I picked up the Champion Dailies (15 Scourge, 4 Champion Tokens, Kill the dudes down by the Citadel) and the Valiant dailies at the same time.

When I did the quests I found the quests stack (so I only had to kill 15 Scourge for both Champion & Valiant quests).
Is you pick up the Valiant & Champion quests it will save you some major time.

Once you've completed Champion for the 2nd Faction you choose the next one (and so on) until Exalted Champion with all factions.

If you're already exalted with some of your factions then you'll skip Champion of XXX, and go straight to Exalted Champion of XXX (which gives you the title "Of (City Name)" - Kelticfox of Darnassus for example)

well blizzard isnt always one to completly make us do something forever - i mean : ya we plan to do dailies for all this crap - but its blizzard, they know that we got more crap ingame to do then waste an hour doing like 4 dailies each day. so my idea. in 3.2 when the colisium is done, we may have a NEW daily that lets us earn an extra badge, maybe more who knows. The bottom line, if it does take us till dec. 2009 for just ONE faction, then blizzard will have forums full of QQ, T_T and u.u : all day long. I feel simi-safe (see simi) about this not taking as long, but its a goal. So if you REALLY want the mounts and pets, you WILL be doing ALOT of work lol.

I noticed that in some cases you can buy items using "currency" and then sell them back within a 2 HOUR time span for a refund of that same currency. Is this true with these argent tournament items? If so...has anyone tried this:

-Buy vanity pet for 40 Champion's Seals
-Trade pet with another player, within the 2 hour time span
- Other player sells back the vanity pet for a refund of 40 Champion's Seals
- Resulting in a possible "trading" of Champion's Seals?

I believe I just received an extra seal from the Champion's Purse reward. I had 20 seals before my dailies and now have 26. The log also shows "You receive loot: Champion's Seal" instead of the "Received item: Champion's Seal" message. This is on the day that 3.1.2 has gone live.

For any prospective collectors, you may wish to read the following:

It takes ~~148~~ 133 days^ of Champion's Seal dailies and 2500g' needed to buy all 5 10 ground mounts (Horde | Alliance, 100 seals each for new models, 5 seals and 500g' each for old models), and the flying Argent mount (Argent Hippogryph, ~~250~~ 150 seals).

If you plan to buy all 5 of your faction's small pets (Horde | Alliance, 40 seals each) with your* Seals, that's an additional 40 days.
Buying all 5 of the Tabards (Horde | Alliance, 50 seals each) is an additional 50 days.
Buying all 5 of the Banners (Horde | Alliance, 15 seals each) is an additional 15 days.

That's a net total of ~~253~~ 238 days^ of Champion's Seal dailies.
Buying each of the small pets from a different player saves you 40 days, for a net of ~~213~~ 198 days^ of Champion's Seal dailies.

These numbers can be further reduced (however, slightly) by picking the Champion's Purse as the selectable reward for these dailies (instead of the Champion's Writ), because as of Patch 3.1.2, it has a very small chance of also containing a Champion's Seal.

*Note: each small pet is not BoP, thus allowing you to find these from other players.
^Note: the 10 Champion's Seals, or 2 days worth of dailies, that you get from A Champion Rises (the one-time quest given at Champion's rank) is deducted from this number.
'Note: this value is reduced by repuation discounts.

You can now get 11 Champion's Seals per day. Five from the four dailies in the Argent Pavilion, three from the three dailies in your faction's tent, and three from Trial of the Champion (Heroic mode).

25 Seals are something like 8 toc hc + 1.
In every toc HC you will have a random chance to drop (a good 40% ), for example, the Aledar's Battlestar, with 163.3 dps.
The champion's seal vendor give a crappy 1h mace with 143 dps (for Taurens)...
So, unless you are a "collector", you shouldn't think on farming these Seals..

I just realized I have 78 champion's seals, but when I went to use them at the vendors listed here, everything had to be purchased with marks of heroism, not the seals. Does anyone know what we are supposed to actually do with these now?

I became a champion for darnassus today, and I was hoping to start farming for pets right away. For some reason, I only have access to 3 quests, that each give 1 seal as reward. Any idea as to why?

I have a question though, and I am sure I am not the only one.

Once you reach champion with all the races, you can no longer do the valiant quests right?
So you loose 4 fast and easy daily quests, which can be done nicely together with the champion quests.
Is it worth it to stay valiant with one to keep the quests?

The info above from bmzero is a little outdated. With patch 3.2, they have added more ways to obtain Champion's Seals, so this takes less time.

TLDR:
If you're at level 80, it takes a total of ~110 days to get all ground mounts, flying mounts, and vanity pets. If you choose to buy all of the vanity pets from the AH, it takes ~92 days. If you’re a Paladin, it will take 7-8 more days to purchase your class mount.

Details:
If you're at level 80, you can now get 3 Champion's Seals a day from Heroic Trial of Champions. So, you should be obtaining 3 per day starting at day 1.

It takes 8 days to begin collecting Champion's Seals from daily quests. To do this, you need to become a valiant and then a champion for your racial faction. Becoming a valiant requires 15 Aspirant Seals; you get 5 Aspirant Seals a day from dailies. Once you're a valiant, it takes 25 Valiant's Seals to become a champion. So, 15 Aspirant's Seals at 5 Aspirant's seals per day, plus 25 Valiant's Seals at 5 Valiant's seals a day = 3 + 5, or 8 days.

This unlocks the A Champion Rises quest, which will award you 10 Champion's Seals upon completion. In addition, this allows you to complete the Black Knight quest line (ending in The Black Knight's Fate), which awards you with 3 more seals.

Now that you're a champion, you have access to 4 new dailies (with the Knights of the Ebon Blade if you're a Death Knight or the Argent Crusade if you're not), which net you a total of 5 Champion's Seals per day. At this point, you should be getting at least 8 Champion's Seals per day (5 from dailies, 3 from Heroic ToC). **You can actually get more seals from the Champion's Purses, which are awarded for completing these dailies, but the drop rate from these is ~5%.

There are 5 additional dailies that award Champion's Seals that you can unlock: 2 from the Argent Crusade and 3 from the Sunreavers/Silver Covenant. In total, these award 5 more Champion's Seals.

To unlock the 2 Argent Crusade dailies, you need to have completed the Exalted Argent Champion of the Alliance or Exalted Argent Champion of the Horde achievement. This requires you to become a champion for all 5 Alliance/Horde factions, exalted with all of these factions, and exalted with the Argent Crusade. It takes 20 more days to become a champion for each Alliance/Horde faction (25 Aspirant's Seals per faction, 4 factions total, 5 seals per day = 20 days). If you can unlock "Exalted Champion of the Alliance/Horde" during this time, then you will unlock these new quests right away.

To unlock the 3 Sunreaver/Silver Covenant dailies, you need to become exalted with Sunreavers of Silver Covenant. You should achieve Exalted status with the Sunreavers/Silver Covenant during the time that it took to unlock Exalted Champion of the Alliance/Horde.

So, at this point, 28 days have passed, and you should have 197 Champion's Seals: 10 from A Champion Rises, 3 from The Black Knight's Fate, 100 from 20 days of dailies, and 84 from 28 days of Heroic Trial of the Champion.

From this point on, you can net at least 13 seals a day from all dailies and Heroic ToC (plus you'll grab a few more from Champion's purses). Given this:

It takes 725 seals + 2000 gold to get all ground mounts. With the 197 Seals that you already have from unlocking everything, it will take ~41 more days to have enough seals (plus the 28 days it took to unlock all dailies, for a total of 69 days).
It takes 300 seals to get all flying mounts. This will take ~23 more days.
It takes 240 seals to get all pets. This will take ~18 more days.

So, it takes a total of ~110 days to get all ground mounts, flying mounts, and vanity pets. If you choose to buy all of the vanity pets from the AH, it takes 92 days. If you’re a Paladin, it will take 7-8 more days to purchase your class mount.

WHy oh why aren't there more ways to get Champion's Seals.... there's just too much to collect tbh. Why not have the Champion's Writ also offer an opportunity to buy a few seals or something, come on at 10 seals a day it's such a horrible long grind.... still have to get 5 mounts, 5 tabards, and some other stuff. ALmost impossible to get before Cataclysm starts or I lose my sanity (whichever comes first and I'm expecting the latter).
WOuld be nice seeing we're nearing the end that you can get more seals per day....

That's more than a little unfair. Historically, tournaments and grand melees to improve the morale of your troops and select champions are pretty common.

They're trying to work with an alliance of disparate people who are used to fighting each other, so building friendly rivalry and a common experience is a psychologically and tactically good idea.

Not a little unfair at all. The Argent Tournament was a grindfest using skills and tactics we'd never used before in 70+ levels and never saw again. It's like being forced to take Latin in school using "it's the root of most of the romance languages so it build's better understanding" as some sort of rationale after spending the previous year already learning Spanish and/or French.

The Argent Tournament was basically a timesink/filler before ICC instances opened up.

Fantastic info........ thank you. For me, I'm one who absolutely hates the jousting, I did it to get me to Exalted with the Sunreavers, but I'm not doin' anymore jousting dailies. I skip those, it may take me longer to get the next mount I'm after, but I'm okay with that. Patience is a virtue. :P

Even though at current gear levels even my mage can easily solo Threat From Above, I still try to team up with someone for the jousting daily. One of us gets on a mount, challenges a champion of the opposite faction and focuses on keeping the enemy's shields down to 0 or 1 stacks. The other will just dps - even a holy priest can throw out enough damage to get your enemy down real quick!
And the best thing is, you don't even have to actually group with the other player. I have done this plenty of times with me playing alliance and the other person being horde.

This would seem to be one of few currencies that remain untouched by 4.0.1 patch currency rework.
That is nice because these are part of permanent in game event that is related to trial of the crusader and trial of the champion dungeons (raid and dungeon&heroic).

These items should provide quite useful for when people actually do level their new characters as they are able to get some epic items for their char, although Bind on Equip gear will still be superior.

As of patch 4.0.1. each Champion's Purse drops 1 Champion's Seal.

EDIT: You won't see the seal in the purse, but you will get it.

Why Icecrown?

From a purely practical point of view, it's because of the lag in Dalaran. Ever noticed how your combat log displays events that are taking place in Crystalsong Forest? It's because Crystalsong Forest and Dalaran are both in one and the same zone.
Originally, the Argent Tournament was going to take place in Crystalsong Forest, which would have made more sense considering the proximity of the last boss in TotC10/25; Anub'Arak from Azjol-Nerub (Dragonblight) burrowing all the way into northern Icecrown just in case someone decided to host a tournament on the ground above does seem a bit silly.
However, since the lag in Dalaran was already driving people crazy on high population servers and / or peak hours, the Argent Tournament was placed in Icecrown.

I can't find the source anymore :( it was either a blue post or an interview with a Blizzard employee.

Since 4.01 it seems like every Champion's Purse I open gives me a Champion's Seal, even though they don't seem to actually appear in the bag.

Has anyone else noticed this or can confirm?

The Seal does "drop" from the bag but doesn't show up as an item. If you open your currencies page while looting the bag, you'll see the counter go up.

However, the Seals looted from the bag disappears when zoning out. I know that others have reported this already, but just wanted to relay the GM response I got:
