Reward for The Loremaster (Alliance)(Horde).

This tabard has a yellow exclamation mark ("!") on the front, and a bunch of tiny writing on the back. The "!" symbol is (for those who don't know...for some reason) what NPCs have floating over their heads to tell you they've got a quest. Very appropriate for a tabard you get after doing around 2-3,000 quests. You also get a title, "the Loremaster" at the same time as the tabard.

Keep in mind that to get this tabard, you DO NOT have to do every quest in game. There is 1400 or so quest in the eastern kingdoms, (check it yourself) and this requires for you to do half of those. I am too lazy to search the others, but i assume that you only have to do half of the quests in the game.

You've got to remember that a lot of quests can only be done by one faction or the other. Alliance only have to do 700 quests to get Eastern Kingdom Loremaster and Horde only need a scant 550.

Inversely, the Horde need 700 in Kalimdor and a 'scant' 550 in Eastern Kingdoms.

Thats 550 in EK and 700 Kalimdor for the horde. 700 in EK, 730 in Kalimdor for the alliance.

Can anyone tell me why the Alliance have such a higher amount of quests both in EK and Kalimdor to complete this achievement? I'm hoping there's some explanation that I just overlooked.

Why don't you take 2 steps back and reconsider the simplest explanation? Alliance just have more quests than Horde.
A quick look in wowheads database yields the following:

953 quests for Alliance and 767 for Horde in Eastern Kingdoms
919 quests for Alliance and 939 quests for Horde in Kalimdor

It appears that Horde quests are in general more tedious than Alliance quests.

The Loremaster's Colors is a pitiful reward for such a difficult achievement in my opinion.

We totaly deserve to have a yellow exclemation mark hovering over our heads while wearing this tabard. It should be managable for Blizzard to make such an effect. Just don't show me on the minimap please...

I was 24/25 on the Tabard achievement, looted my Loremaster's Colors from the mailbox and it didn't count. :(

Edit: Logging out and logging back on recognized the tabard, and I was able to get the achievement. If you're having the same problem, just relog!

You're complaining about the Horde being better than the Alliance? Just because their version is easier by, what, 200-400 quests? It still takes $%^&ing FOREVER for the Horde to do it.
And apparently you haven't seen much of WoW: there's a LOT of cases where the Alliance gets all the good stuff and the Horde is left out in the cold.

A point someone recently brought up: Since the Alliance have more quests to do, they'll have an easier time qetting this. Horde will have to scour every region looking for whatever stray quest they missed.

I'd just like to state, sure it takes forever to do the quests on hordeside, but take into account it may take you forever but it takes even longer for the allies...

As for the good stuff, it's pretty even but I am jealous horde get sweet lvl 13-15 rares that allies get left in the cold for.

As for everything else.. I play horde and ally myself depending on the server.. most quest rewards are about the same from my opinion but Horde come out on top in alot of the lower level instances, whereas mid is more geared towards ally.. still transportation to Darnassus would be nice instead of taking a boat and then a fp to get there or portals.. whereas from UC to Org is a simple Zeppelin flight.

Pretty lame reward for such a daunting achievement. Why not give us another 310% mount? A flying carpet with a "?" or "!" sewn onto it?

That's one ugly reward for such a tedious achivement. The Explorer tabard is pretty disappointing too, actually.

Much like the Tabard of the Explorer you can replace this tabard at any of the Tabard Vendor npcs should you happen to 'accidentally' destroy it in a fit of disgust after equipping it. Tested as of March 6th, 2009.

for the record, this tabard looks particularly abyssmal on male trolls thanks to our hunched over posture.

It is also possible to cover up the dot at the bottom of the big yellow ! with a fat enough belt... resulting in the visual effect that you just vomitted all over yourself, leaving a big yellow trail down your chest.

Due to this fact, I wear this tabard alot :P

Now that Cata's out I thought I'd really go for it and get Loremaster while I'm starting to quest fresh now. But I have to say... THIS TABARD IS SO WEAK. I realize that when WotLK came out the team at Blizzard just got so lazy when it came to designing gear altogether.. I never looked at this tabard until now, and now that I have.. don't even really care if I get Loremaster now at all. What a waste of getting such a grand achievement.

I've been working toward this achievement off and on for quite a while. I'm not one to sit and grind for one thing all day. I have to break it up, some here, some there. Anyhow, in my opinion, this is the longest most daunting achievement in the game (except maybe the grind for the Insane title). Because of this I really think it deserve to have a mount come with this achievement. WotLK made achievement mounts popular...and I think that Loremaster is prestigious enough to deserve a mount. I was thinking something along the lines of a hot air balloon paying tribute to Around the World in 80 Days. Blizzard could even make it go half speed if they wanted. lol. People have to get up close to see your tabard or title. I want the whole city to be able to Identify me as a Loremaster simply by looking at my mount. Just a thought.
