This item is one of the greatest, if not the best, trinket available for a tanking druid.

To acquire this item you need to kill lots of mobs in Ogri'La for a random drop of a Depleted Badge. It is a very rare drop.

When you finally get one, combine it with 50 Apexis Shards to create the trinket. By the time you get the Badge you will probably have well over 50 Shards...

If you are unable to find the Badge on your own, visit the Auction House or ask around because both items are BoE, meaning this item can be traded!!!

There are rumors that the "spawned" encounters in that area (the dragons, demons, apexis monolith guardians) have a higher chance to drop depleted items, however this has not been confirmed. I have only killed four of the dragons, and none of them had anything, but that doesn't deny the possibility.

There isn't any particularly effective way to farm for it; all of the enemies that can drop apexis shards have a chance to drop a depleted item, and the area is crawling with stuff to beat up.

There are a few things you can target especially to ease the suffering.

*Rays: They drop motes of mana as well
*Fire elementals in the southern forge camp: motes of fire
*Gan'arg and other demons: Netherweave cloth and marks for Aldor reputation
*Etherials in the north plateau: Netherweave cloth, and the spellbinders CAN drop the enchant for major spellpower to a weapon, if you're an enchanter. (Non-enchanters can't see it, but it's good to have another location available.)
*Apexis flayers: Don't drop anything special, but they are clustered together better around the crystal hills.
*Skinning: Rays and boars can be skinned and there are plenty of boars.

I recommend using 10 shards, once you've completed the quest to make use of the crystalforges, to buy a special flask that can only be used in the blade's edge plateaus (and gruul's lair) - "of the Beast" and "of the Sorcerer" - they're worth the investment.

Also, playing the color memory game from Apexis Relics (the small crystals around a monolith) can get you a 15% movement speed buff that only works in blade's edge.

Finally a replacement trinket for the Mark of Tyranny. 12.5% dodge on use isn't that bad either for tanking as well. Even if it shares a cooldown with Moroes Lucky Pocket Watch it still makes a solid tanking trinket.

I seriously question whether this is as godly a druid tank item as it seems to be described. YES its a ton of armor... but at some point is that really all you're trying to do? is stack endless armor?

i wear 4 pieces of Tier 4, clefthoof vest, wildfury staff and some assorted kara gear. raid buffed my armor is about 31k... it takes about 36k to reach the mitigation cap of 75%.

the tiered pieces (imo) are well itemized for feral druids and tier 5/6 have noticeably more armor than the gear im wearing. what they dont have is def/resilience to count towards the uncrittable cap.

along with high armor offset pieces available later in the game (ie- treads of the den mother, belt of natural power) trinket slots may become necessary for def or resilience.

and lets not forget the importance of dodge and stamina cannot be underestimated... the on use ability is nice, but as with all those cooldowns... very situational.

im not saying this item sucks... and its FANTASTIC for anyone early in raid progression. but i don't buy the "ZOMG BEST TANKING TRINKET IN TEH GAME" hype. personally id rather wear moroes/timelapse shard early on for the balance of stats other than armor... and eventually shadowmoon insignia. feral druids that have a clue about their class are already gonna have way more armor than any other class.... you should worry more about being uncrittable, having decent dodge and a lot of health for non physical fights.

FYI - living root sucks. needs tuning to be usable.

any input from feral droods mucking through BT/hyjal here would be appreciated... let me know if the extra 2k tops armor would really be that groundbreaking for your role.

Yeah... if you want to rely on luck. Luck will only get you so far. What happens when some boss hits you 4x in a row and you become a glorified rug on the floor because you didn't have enough armor and health? "No fair! I was supposed to dodge a couple of those!"

Dodge is great but there is no substitute for armor and health. They do not depend on luck.

Just bought one on AH for 75g bo.

In case you're curious, the on-use ability gives 10.51% extra dodge and 6.18% crit.

Combined with https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=28528 for an extra 15.85% dodge, Kings + Grace of Air (roughly 10% dodge passive) you can potentially reach well over 75% dodge for 10 seconds...

How would this affect Expose Weakness? If I get the first EW when the trinket is activated, I assume the 150 AGI would be counted. But after the 150 AGI dissapears, will EW be reduced? If I constantly manages to reapply EW before it runs out will I get the benefit all the time?

In general, effects take your current stats into consideration when they are applied, and use that value for their entire duration. So you would have to have this already activated when EA procs in order for EA to get the benefit. Note that the 150 agi also makes critting more likely though, so it's reasonably certain you can get EA up after clicking this.

The real question is, when your agi goes back down and you crit again, would EA use your new (lower) agi value or not? You've got two competing factors here: more powerful debuff (old) vs refreshing duration (new) and I don't know how it would work out. Debuff priority has gone back and forth repeatedly on this issue since release so you'll have to find out from experience, and re-verify every patch. If you're paranoid you can simply deactivate auto-attack as this is about to run out, and stop shooting until the debuff expires on its own.

I wasn't expecting to ever see one of these as they go for 2k on the auction house on my server. Lo and behold, while I was helping out some guildies to do the 5 man encounters up in Blade's Edge (demons, dragons, crystal giants) it dropped from one of the giants. I was on my warlock at the time but I think they realised I wanted it when I exploded in party chat. Thank goodness it wasn't a pug!

It seems like the best way to get this trinket has not been mentioned, and that is the Shartuul Transporter event.

To do the event, become Honored with Ogri'la and complete the daily quest Banish More Demons:

When turning in that quest you get a grab-bag which has a chance to drop a Darkrune. Turn in the Darkrune to an NPC in Ogri'la for a Crystalforged Darkrune, which is used to start the event. A good writeup of the event is on Wowwiki and there are good movies available online. While difficult, it is farmable after a few tries.

Completion of the event results in a guaranteed drop of a depleted item, which makes this by far the best way to far for the badge, or any other depleted item. Happy hunting!

1st: Get the badge from a lucky drop.

after 2.3 patch agility its not so benefit for tanking than defense aslo crit chance go from 35 agl=1% crt 70lvl to 40agl for 1%

I recently farmed this on the Kargath server and it dropped for me in only about 3 total hours of farming. It actually took me longer to get the shards to modify it. I am not looking to brag about the speed in which I got it I am just wonder if maybe the drop rate has increased. I could just be extremely lucky.

A tip for feral druids grinding it out in Blade's Edge Mountains..

You can pick up an Unstable Flask of the Beast for a mere 15 shards from the crystalforge at nearby Forge Camp Wrath. It lasts for 2 hours through death, and will help make the grind that much easier. And as for the shards, believe me - you're going to make them back tenfold grinding for your Badge. :)

With the upcoming changes to druid tanking in 3.0 this trinket will be even better.

A lot (if not most) extra armor on leather items is being removed, so all of the druid tanks, which are at (or near) the armor cap at the moment will remain with substantial less. Even with the nerf in the armor multiplier for bear forms (down to +370% at the moment), this trinket will add an additional 1447.6 armor. (If you have 20k armor without the trinket, this will put you from 65.5% to 67.3% physical mitigation through armor)

With bonus armour being taken away from Feral Druids soon (after WotLK launches) it is really not worth grinding for this.
All armour bonus from trinkets, rings, staffs is being taken away so that druids do not have to grind for things to have the best gear. The armour coefficients are going to be amended so that nothing is lost in the long run.

We are changing the way bear armor works so that bonus armor on items does not receive the bear armor multiplier. Specifically this means that trinkets, rings, necks and cloaks with bonus armor will not be multiplied by the bear bonus. The normal armor on leather will still be multiplied by this bonus. Examples:
1) A ring that grants 100 bonus armor will now grant a bear 100 armor (not ~470 armor).

We are making this change because armor is such a good stat for bears that it makes taking pieces with bonus armor a non-decision and we don’t want acquiring these pieces, which tend to not be common, to be so much of a barrier to a druid who wants to tank a raid.

This change will NOT be in effect when Lich King ships. We are letting you know this now so that you don’t go through heroic efforts to acquire items like the Badge of Tenacity, or Defender’s Code. Defender’s Code, with 850 armor, will still be a good trinket. But it won’t be an insanely good trinket for a bear.

We will adjust the bear armor modifiers so that your net mitigation does NOT go down with these changes. Let me repeat: this is not a nerf to Feral armor. It is a change to the amount of armor you get from gear with bonus armor.

I'm still not sure exactly how this is obtained. Is it a drop? Do I use shards to somehow create something that might have it? Do I use them to summon some mob that might drop it?

Edit: Ok, after a little searching, I found out. You have to kill mobs in Ogri'la until you get a Depleted Badge. You then use that and 50 Apexis Shards to create the Badge of Tenacity.

On Ravencrest the last 2 that officially sold wentfor 1850g and 2200g.

I have spent 7 days in the northern Plateau, gaining revered reputation with the consortium only by getting Etheral Prison Keys from the Etherreals. (There is a nice Quest where you get 5 Badges of Justice btw - one you are honored)

I have way more than 10k kills more like 15k, found 3 epic items, a few blues, some jewelcrafter recipes, 46 primal mana, 2k netherweave cloth by killing mobs there nonstop. But was unlucky with the badge so far.

At least with all drops, etc its averaging out to about 1k gold per day farming. when 2.1 came out I had 234g and now its 7200g and I did not even bother to sell all stuff. You can buy unstable Flasks from the skyguard attackforce on the Ethereal Forge. There are flasks for all classes (of the Bandit, of the Beast, or the Soldier, of the Elder and of the Physician) which sell for 20g each easily on the ah (they are not soulbound)

I used about 700 apexis shards for summoning of Dragons, Apexis Guardians, Demons (from Ethereal Prison keys), demons form the forge camp - nothing.

If you want some help farming try to convince a paladin, since the best healing shield drops from one of the Ethereal Prison Demons.

Some one was selling it as a depleted badge for 100g in Trade Channel so I bought it off him. One Hour later he was messaging me back that he wanted it back and had promised it to a Guildie etc. I had to be harsh and say sorry all deals are final and had infused and equipped it. I think he found out the true value and wanted to resell it later. I did see him in Blades Edge later spamming to buy a depleted badge for 100g, don't think he was to successful.

You make this item by combining the Depleted Badge(a random drop off any mob in the new area in Blades' Edge) with 50 apexis shards which also drop off any mob in the area.

This, and the Depleted Badge are NOT bind on pickup.
So you can find it on the AH too.

Now, one year later, as of patch 2.4, best way to get this item is farm the elite mobs which are summoned with 35 shards. A decently geared feral druid can solo them (takes roughly 10 minutes) but almost any class with a healer on them can do it too.

The depleted badge can drop off of any of the mobs that drop Apexis Shards

It isn't confirmed that the summon-able dragons have a better drop rate for the depleted badge used to create this trinket, and a GM said that the drop rate is very low.

Our party was doing the big apexis crystal (the memory game that requires 4 people), and we finished all the sequences, killed the summoned boss, and it dropped a Badge of Tenacity.

We did this about 7 times, and it only one dropped once.

I think the summoned bosses do have a higher drop rate, but it's not significantly higher (maybe 5-10%).

from what i know, it doesnt share c/d with Moroes' Lucky Pocket Watch. 150 agility + 300 dodge rating, thats a lot of dodge for a bear, not to mention the extra crit % to keep rage going since u will be dodgin pretty much every attack for a few secs.

Defensive and ofensive trinket. Armor plus in use is from agility. Got mine from an humanoid in northern forge. I'm druid, so I didn't sell it. It worth it.

This has a shared cooldown with Bladefist's Breath, but it only lasts 20 seconds (meaning you can't use them at the same time).

However this does NOT share a cooldown with Moroes' Lucky Pocket Watch, so activate both for a whopping 58% dodge! (Bear form)

there are better cat dps trinkets out there, but for a bear tank, this is perhaps the best trinket in the game.

This item is for tanking druids, I am not sure if it is the best item ever. But it is a good "oh @#$%!" button, remember that u run this with Moroes lucky pocket watch gives insance dodge, only good when ur health is low or have 10 mobs at you.

Else dont use both at the same time, to build aggro u need rage, to get rage u need to be hitted, remeber they dont hit you when u dodge all attacks!

A good but fairly weak way to build rage and still dodge is to use both + enrage. SHould help

Use both and let healer heal you! then back to fight again, ;)

Lol I just bought this for 250G, I don't think the seller knew the value. They usually go for 1200 at the AH on our server the few times I've actually seen them. Awesome druid tanking trinket one of only three trinkets in the game with armour

found this in the AH for 670g WOW! if you're a druid and you need it, check every day for both "depleted badge" and "badge of tenacity". it doesn't matter which one you get, 50 apexis shards can be gotten in about half an hour

: O i farmed this in 30 minutes. using 35 shards to summon a random demon to fight (72 elite) we did about 4 of em untill it dropped, feral druid and a resto druid. very easy to kill these guys. all you gotta do is go around summoning the demons on the differant portals. also got a depleted dagger aswell.

Found 1 in Ah for 1000 buyout, 700 bid. I was outbid an hour later, I hearthed and hit that magic buyout button.

Made it all the more satisfactory to see that dude I outbid/bought-out on at the mailbox...lol

Where is the best spot ("exactly")to farm the depleted badge?

waste 2-3 hours yesterday, get 75 Apexis Shards and still waiting for milagrous drop...

In BCC;
I've killed alittle over 6000 mobs in Blade's edge Mountain Flight only areas and i've only gotten 1 depleted ring and 1 depleted dagger.
Definitely better off doing the Daily Elites from the quests if you want to "Farm" this trinket or go farm gold and buy it.
