We've gotten it 2 times in 2 weeks. Once on trash before Attumen, and once om the mobs right before Maiden of Virtue.

I got one of them and i guess i'll use it for grinding. Even though it wont help that much as a holy paladin ^^

This dropped for me yesterday in Karazhan, it looks pretty cool too. It's white and looks longer than your average cloak or cape.

You can in every way compare a chest piece to a back piece that has the same mods. Traditionally the chest piece would have much higher stats and a greater bonus in general to whatever mod is included in the item. The point still remains that a level 46 blue chest piece has stats on the same line as a level 70 epic back piece. Obviously you can't compare items in this fashion when they are around the same level because "The value of their stats at the SAME level are extremely different." They are very far apart in level required/item level. When there's only THREE items in the game that even have a bonus to holy damage mod, it might be a good idea to make them somewhat decent. Either that, or change it to holy dmg + healing.... or remove it completely. There's no fun in sharding loot that might have a use for someone :(

Many people might not know this, but when using Holy Spell Damage above raw Spell Damage, you'll get a small yet significant boost to your damage, when using Seal of Command.

Seal of Command's Spell Damage coefficient for is 20%, but when using "Holy Spell Damage" it's up to 29%.
From what I've seen, it's the only spell acting this way.

This means that 2h Holy Paladins with SoC, might want to go for this above many other cloaks. However, I have my doubts that a Retribution paladin would make good use of this, as the Retribution-itemisation often leans directly towards "Warrior"-gear (gear with Str/Agi/Crit and so on).

I would use this as a retrib pally.The best spell dmg cloak a ret pally can get,cld also even up spell dmg with tier 4 as gladiator's vindication.just got this cloak in kara just now on a few mobs on the way to opera.Can't wait to respec ret to unleash pwnage :) Nice graphics too

This'll have a WHOPPING 43 +Holy Spellpower come WotLK. That's the equivalent of 86 + healing under the current system for Paladins and Priests. Glad I grabbed this for my shockadin set way back :D

Looks like this item was finally changed from +holy to straight +spellpower; for some reason this cloak missed the first round when nearly all the other items that had school-specific bonuses were updated.

Got this drop in Karazhan off a trash mob. Since I was the only priest I obviously got it. I love it! I lost a bit of bonus healing from my old back piece but this one is definetly worth it!

This dropped on a guild run from one of the aoe pulls in Moroes room, was ML'd to me to DE since it's useless, Next group of aoe trash dropped another one, also de'd, 2 voids from each so it wasn't a total bust.

Nice cloak, sort of. The stats are nice, but if I ever saw this equipped on someone during a raid, I'd probably push for a gkick.

There's a reason the terms "lolsmite" and "ret noob" exist.

For a Protection Paladin, this cloak translate to:
21 TPS
5 Damage / Consecrate Tick

I use it in regular instances, AoE pulls, and old world content. Nice option to have, but not worth losing the stamina/mitigation from a tanking cloak when working on raid content.

Hi, I'm a Smite specced priest... lol. I had to switch to holy for raiding purposes of course, and decided to use a few talents points in 10% Smite dmg and Surge of Light. Call me crazy but when I'm in a 5 man, and there's a holy pally, I have him heal and I start DPSing. It's kinda silly, but I didn't want to be completely helpless when killing things. This dropped for my guild on our way to Aran off one of the Ethereals. All our pallies in the raid were holy, so they decided to give it to me :D. Awesome cloak for me, I have like 660 dmg now, and right after Aran we one-shotted Prince and I got the Cloak of the Pure-Hearted. Same graphic, great healing cloak.

What is wrong with so many people and their inability to read! Once and for all, this is a new type of item stat which increases HOLY DAMAGE NOT HEALING! This dropped today and as a priest I really wanted it because I want to see how my holy damage stacks up if I go with a variation of the "Holy Warrior" build, but a holy paladin got it, I wasn't even allowed to roll, how lame is that?

This back is +Holy DAMAGE. Not +Healing.

In fact this is one of the highest +dmg backs in the entire game ... It is damn amazing for a Priest or Paladin. If you can find me a +40 dmg back or higher that you think is better please link it.

This thing is well worth being epic and along with the ZG set godly to a lolsmite Priest. Each time you DE one of these a Priest dies a little inside. Remember that!

I got this. I like it. Im a raid smite spec priest, its good for endurance battles and helps my smites out. Not bad for me.

Smite priests got some potential in TBC... especially with that thing that enables them to cast a second one instantly.

This has equal prio for both smite priests and paladins (since paladins ONLY have holy spell damage) but honestly think healing priests will use it by far less than paladins so it would be abit unfair for both to have equal priority.

I got this last night off a trash mob in Karazhan right before we pulled the Curator. I'm a heavy disc/holy specced priest. I will be using this with my damage set for farming and doing quests. I'll definitely hold onto my +healing cloak but this one will come in handy when I'm solo. Also this one is all white so it looks different.

... Priests solo sometimes too, pal... and while I understand they have a basis in Shadow Damage, helping their healing spells is beneficial as well.

IMO we need to see more items like this, +holy damage abound!... but as a Paladin, I can say that in no way should priests be declined great items like this.

of course Cloak of the Black Void has no mana regen but does have 35 damage AND healing. If you want a more versatile use then this would be a better choice than Righteous drape.

Although the new hybrid disc/holy priest can whop out some damage I would personally say the Righteous Drape is more designed for Retrib Pallies. A prot pally would probably prefer one of the defensive cloaks that boosts shield rating/block.

I'm a Prot Pally and this dropped yesterday. No one else in the raid could even use it but one of the priests, and she said she didn't want it. We all passed, and then the raid all told me to pick it up. I use the Devilshark Cape for Tanking, but this will come in most useful when solo questing or PvPing.

I'm a prot pally. I currently am NOT using this cloak, although I have it in the bank. Why? With this cloak I can now replace (when I want to) some of my blue protadin gear with purple (easier to find) tank war gear. This will allow me to keep my holy damage at acceptable levels while still gaining the massive benefits of prot warrior gear. I think you wouldn't use it always for tanking, but if you were using certain other items than it might be a good idea.

respecced holy for my guild about a month ago and, i will replace my prince cloak with this for grinding without a doubt. besides it just looks sexy and is, super rare ;p (20+ full kara runs no drop so to say, every other random has passed)

let me add. ive been shadow for 3 months and got very decent dmg gear. this baby will up my holy dmg to 930. way to piss off ppl in bg and still own *!@# :D
(p.s as in 'WTF priest heal me.. no eat *!@# ill smite them hahaha )

Priests:
I will say to all the priests who has this: Great! :) Good for you if you feel you can use it for grinding, I'm happy for you!
As long as you didn't roll against a Paladin who needed it and won it from them... in which case your raid leader should have been shot for allowing it to happen ;)

As has been mentioned: Holy priests do not "do" damage. They may do for their own grinding, but not in any group with any sense.
A priest want to do damage: They go Shadow. There is no spec which is focused on Holy damage specifically for priests which is viable as a pure damage spec.

Paladins however:
3 trees, all are Holy.

Holy tree
You can make a Holy/Ret paladin which focuses on spell damage. This is what I have (40/0/21), and it is basically a melee caster with focus on spellpower... HOLY spellpower.
This cape plus Holy Shock, SoC & Consecration = Yum.

Protection tree
Aggro. These paladins have usually chosen to be tanks. Tanks have two primary purposes: Aggro and taking a beating. For the purpose of aggro, all they have to rely on is Holy damage all the way. No whites, and no non-holy aggro skills.
This cape would be a gift from the gods.

Retribution tree
Focuses on close combat damage. More on raw white damage + crits than the Holy/Ret described above, but still a caster, and all the damage spells are Holy.
Again: Give it here white boy.

This cloak proved to be very useful for our Holy priests at Leotheras the Blind encounter, where you WANT to nuke your demon fast no matter what your raid role is.

Sorry priests, but if you have a paladin in your group, don't roll. If a priest thinks that they are more deserving of this than a paladin they are an idiot. I say this for 3 reasons. A, Paladins deal holy damage, and ONLY holy damage (aside from a minimal amount of physical damage). B, If a priest were to use this, they would be missing out on the bonus damage to any of their shadow spells, instead of finding a cape that would do + 30 give or take to all spells you want just holy? and finally C, drape of the RIGHTEOUS. Think about it. The paladin set is the Righteous set, we have abilities like Righteous defense, seal of righteousness. Don't get me wrong i can still see how a priest could use it, but if there's a pally that wants it let him have it, you can find something better suited for you elsewhere in Karazhan

I do nto feel sorry for a priest who missed out on getting this in any way. Type in karazhan in thottbot search, you will find all the items that drop from kara. Click on plate and you will notice that it all for healing pallys or tanking warriors. NO PLATE FOR PROT PALLYS! This cloak may be the only prot pally gear taht drops in kara. I also checked all the plate gear for ssc, and its all for tanking warriors or healing pallys. if that isn't enough then check the results for the teron gorefiend chain, notice that here is no pally helm at the end of the chain. So priests i please ask you to not roll on this item, when a pally needs it alot more.

If ya want a true healer from a holy priest, you want them to be specced holy>disc...Unless you expect to babysit us throughout our farming and grinding hours, we will eventually have to kill something on our own...and in my opinion it goes like this....holy pally, hmmm why expect dps from him anymore than a holy prst? you shouldnt! Now a ret pally in the party should take priority over all else, but a holy Pally is still holy just like a holy Priest, both of which need to grind f'n primals just like the rest of us....and Unless you gonna pay 50g everytime a priest needs to grind, then 50g for them to heal (ie:maxed-out repec rate)you should allow us into the pool of dps gear, or we will be wasting precious talent points on dps stuff when it could be allocated elsewhere.

One of these fell on the trash mobs clearing to Shade last night. We had no pallies in the raid and I still said this was a paladin's priority item. Since we had no pally, however, they told me to take it and use it for farming or DE it if I wanted to. My priest is Holy/Disc spec and for farming I use holy spells half the time, so it will come in handy. Yes, shadow is the other 50 percent of the time, but when you're not spec'd shadow, the cooldowns on mind blast are longer and smite is ready to use again first.

I've never spec'd Disc/Holy or even a single point into shadow since I made my priest to heal, but I'd be interested in seeing how much damage a Disc priest can dish out. Everything else has changed since the expansion. I can remember when shadow priests where made to sit out on raids. LOL...

A word from a Discipline/Holy priest, the +Holy is worth its weight in gold to me! +spell damage does nothing for Holy Nova, That’s why I focus on +spell Crit the only thing that increases it's effectiveness. This is a special niche for sure, but bubble, pop shadow fiend and AOE them to death!

I got this cape last night from kara. I had a tank cape before and i choose to wear this. On the same night i won the tank legs from curator. Overall my stats are fine and my spell dmg has increased now too making is easier for me to hold agro. I would definatly recommend all pally tanks to get this cape and loosing the tank stats from the cape can be made from other gear . Just waiting to get my mystic spellthread for my tank legs which i'll get today :>

as a ret pally this doesn't seem very appealing. While yes, as ret we do have some use for spell damage it's definetely not a focus for us. You would get more of a dps boost from a cape with melee dps stats than from a spell damage one.
