better than the staff of infinite mysteries in my opinion, at least for mages it is. i'd take +35 crit rating over 18 hit anyday

This staff is fairly rare and not a 30% drop. In fact this boss actually has 6 epic drops including the staff and I don't believe they each have an even number of chances to drop. It's kind of like the staff I always wanted from Gandling preXpac. I must have run Scholomance a thousand times and never seen it drop.

heroic final bosses do not always drop a epic, they always drop a nether. they have a good chance to drop an epic but it is not guarenteed.
i farm epics namely slavepens (for the damn eye), mech (easy 5 badges), ramparts (need rep and it is easy). more often the first two.

ive had boss kills that dropped 0 epics, and ive had one that dropped two. pantheleon in mechanar dropped the suneater and a gem for us about a week ago.

however in 2.1 they are changing it so that all heroic end bosses drop at least 1 epic with other bosses having a chance to drop an epic gem.

Blizzard isn't upgrading this staff. :( Before the patch, it was better than Staff of Infinite Mysteries (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=28633) for a mage or destruction warlock (or Moonkin?), but now the latter has +35 spell damage more, +10 int, +21 stamina and +23 spell hit more. As nice as it is, I'm still crying over the lack of crit. T_T

Indeed a nice staff for people who isnt raiding or earns enough points for the arena one..

Can anyone tell me if this will be effected by the glow from +40 spell dmg enchant ?

I was lucky enough to get this staff last night for my shadow priest on the first run and I don't notice any glow or anything. I don't even have a glow after the +40 spell damage enchant.

Kinda cheesy but I guess it doesn't matter since I'm in shadowform anyway.

I have ran Heroic Sethekk Halls 11 times so far in order to get the Spaulders of Dementia. And evertime, I repeat, everytime I have ran it....this staff has dropped. Everytime I see this staff I wanna puke.

Has a striking resemblence to the "Staff of Deathsong" from DND. I saw an artist's rendering of it. It looks exactly like this staff but it's pure black. Thanks again Blizz :)

This staff doesn't show enchant effects, which makes it all the more interesting for transmogrification. Especially for those of us who don't want a rainbow-coloured lollipop on our back.

This staff is really nice.. got it as a healer when grouped with DPS warr, 2xhunter and a shadowpriest. Really gonna enjoy it when I respecc to holy dps for farming some, nice amount of crit :D.

just won this for my moonkin gear :)
2nd boss is much easier than 1st boss on heroic.

the mobs arent too bad, main nice things to have:
shaman for tremor, priest for shackle, mage for sheep, hunter for trap/kiting guards

a good healer+tank is recommended for the guard pulls - they hit hard and are immune to crowd control.

Ran this instance 6 times already and nothing yet. The Bands always seem to drop instead :-( /hate

I suppose another 10 times until I'm statistically likely to have it.

As a shadow priest I agree Infinite mysteries staff is better for me, but if this drops I'm rolling on it and I'll tell you why. Even though we are running Kara, it has been 6 weeks since the Staff dropped, we rotate raid members because we don't have enough for 2 raid groups weekly yet, and there is no telling how many weeks until 1.)Staff drops 2.)I'm in raid 3.) I win roll against other dps casters (last time mage won roll).
I bought Bringer of Death staff last month as it was an upgrade from my previous combo... and when Terokk's Staff drops it will be an upgrade unless I have the Infinite Mysteries Staff and any dps caster should be fine rolling on this if it's an upgrade for them regardless if another caster might "benefit more" from the crit.
Also crit is very important for SP, crits from Mind Blast and SWD greatly increase sustained dps and chance for killing blow and Spirit tap to proc. Any priest not using these spells on CD with a good crit% is not maximizing his dps potential.

this drop rate blows.. rly bad. staff of infinite mysteries is better drop rate, which it shouldnt be. this should be the first epic staff a caster gets. GG blizz

no one comments about this staff for moonkins...poor moonkins, we are such a neglected and misunderstood people :*(
okay got this staff on first heroic sethekk run going for swift flight form. had bringer of death with a +40 chant. since this is the best i will be seeing for a while i spent the $$ and got sunfire chant on it. without the chant (and now my nature spells effectively have no chant bonus here) it was a +10 overall and a +60 spell damage to moonfire and starfire. with spec modifiers this brought overall damage up by 100-300 per hit and crits for boomkin spec'd right are 200%. so overall a very signifigant 100-600 increase in damage per hit for one item.
