Note for herbalists: Pretty darn easy to get...just head to Zangarmarsh (to the Northeast) and you will get quite a few motes of life, to say the least.

"Primal Life is an elemental crafting material. It is created by joining (10). Primal Life can be transmuted to and from by alchemists."
It's made from 10 Mote of Life, Not Mote of Shadow.

If you're a herbalist, "skining" some of the mobs of Zangarmarsh can give you 1-3 motes. As many players kill those mobs for Sporeggar reputation, you'll usually find many corpses and get those motes pretty fast.

The best way to get these as a miner is to mine alot and transmute the primal earth from the veins to primal life.

If possible for your class solo killing the the Talonsworn Forest Ragers in the Skettis area and then 'skinning' them is one of the fastest/easiest ways to get a Primal as well as a good amount of herbs.

Despite what you may see here, it does take ten motes to create a primal. What you see here is actually a quirk of the way Blizzard handles the spell. On Blizzard's end, a two-step process occurs:

You use the first mote, destroying it in the process.
A spell is cast, which destroys the other nine motes, and creates a primal.

This spell here--step two--is the spell that gets listed here on Wowhead.

By-far the best place to farm these motes is south-western Zangarmarsh, particularly if you are a herbalist. They are lvl 63-64, easy to kill & you can skin them after killing them to yield another chance for motes. On my 70 Tauren feral druid I was able to farm an average of 2 motes per minute in this area & considering the price of these primals has skyrocketed to 15-20g as of late, this is definitely a great way to make money if you are sick of doing dailies.

Note, that to my knowledge, you can't convert 1x Primal Life back into 10x Mote of Life. They aren't like enchanting mats. But there doesn't appear to be any reason to not convert the motes to primes as i can't find a use for the Motes of Life, but Primal Life are used in (as above) or .

Well it still says you need when in fact you need 10 motes to make 1 primal.

Once you combine its fixed but you dont use them separate anyway.
I believe you can uncombine earth primals but I also have mining so I think you need that skill.

Didnt find a good drop rate in Zangarmarsh , in fact since I turned 70 the drop rate is slow compared to how many i got while i was collecting epxerience Wierd

They are used for crafting all kids of items , tailors, alchemy etc

Just an FYI for those new to turning Motes to Primals.....in the upper right hand corner of this screen it says Create Primal Life: 9x motes of life. It's ten actually. Submitted a correction to Allakhazam, hopefully will be fixed soon.

Actually the best place to farm Primal life if your an herbalist, is the 72 Elite Trees in Skettis, where you do the egg bombing, and prisoner dailys.

Depending on class and spec these trees are easily soloable, im a resto shammy, my dps sucks but i can down them pretty easily, takes a while but i pull it off.

The Trees drop 3-5 motes of life per kill, so it only takes 2-3 kills and you got yourself a primal, not to mention the trees also drop 2 different type of herbs as well as the motes, and they drop 2-5 of those 2 herbs, sometimes its the same herb and you get like 4-10 of the same herb on 1 kill. So not only do you walk away with a bunch of primals but you get alot of stacks of herbs as well.

The other day i spent about an hour and a half farming trees, i walked away with 12 Primal Lifes, 3 stacks of Felweed, 2 Stacks of dreaming glory, 2 Stacks of ancient linchen, and 1 stack of mana thistle and terocone. So i made about 200g from an hour and a half of farming.

The only problem with the trees, is that there are only 3 that roam around, their respawn is fast, but they are killed alot from other herbalists in the area, or by people just doing the dailys, its best to farm these during the slow time on your server, after everyone has done the dailys.

According to this primal life farming guide, the drop rate in Zangarmarsh (bog/fungal giants/lagoon walkers) is 13%-19%.

Okay, I was farming these in Zanger, in Quagg Ridge, and I said, Hey, Ill take a tally of this to see what I get. Well after 1 hour of farming, i got 30 Motes of Life, 2 greens, and 56 kills. At that rate, I'd say that that is probly the best place to farm these. Though there are times when you go 12 of these things and not get a single one, and most of them drop in pairs after 4-7 kills, It is still a good place to farm these. One Reason: MUSHROOM PEOPLE! Yes, Sporegar loves you after farming these things. Every kill gives you a rep reward of 12-16, so this is a very easy way to get some happy mushrooms and some motes at the same time.

Note: The Fungel Giants and Bog Lords seam to drop them more then the starving ones that wonder in there sometimes. The ones on the east side of the ridge also seam to have a higher drop rate then the ones on the west side. This is probly just a flook, but I thought it was worth mentioning

Although a great deal of information exists upon this site this thread is a prime example of how many threads go NOWHERE. Primal life comes from Mote of Life. You need to combine 10 Motes of Life to make a single Primal Life. It is NOT some spell it is not some special quest - you simply acquire 10 of them and right click them. Underbog is the best place to farm Mote of Life i think, drops around 30-60 every run, just convince your grp to let u have them^^

After looking at the comments here, even though a bit outdated, instead of grinding endlessly in zangarmarsh, i have a much much faster way.

Just go to skettis now that 2.1 is live and run circles around the lake, take a healer and a dps class, pair up and kill the big elite tree things they are easy, and herb them, for 4-5 motes of life...PER..mob...

they also herb for about 4-5 types of herbs randomly, and usually 4 of that kind of herb, like 3-4 felweed, then 4-5 motes of life as well per kill.

using this strategy, over just a few days i have more herbs than i can ever even use, i keep about 3 stacks of glory/felweed/mana thistle/lichen and sell the rest

i also keep 20 primal lifes on stock and sell the rest, and i've sold 20+ for 10g each over the last week or so =)

I'm a level 63, and I happen to be doing a lot of Zanga and Terro.... I find LOTS off the Bog lords. I really recommend that Spawning place and just kill the Bog Lords, herb, AND herb the boddies.

yes yes yes, just got this by discovery doin a primal might.....made my day since i didnt know how willing i was to spam trade chat/buy mats for the xmute just for the sake of lvling up my alc skill, that and ill be pocketing an extra 13g+ per day since p. earth is at bout 2-3g and p. life is up at 16-19g....

If you want to farm motes of life.... Go to zang, on the south west side there is a spawn point for Bog lords. In about an hour I made 5 primals. They have Low HP and they don’t hit hard so if you’re a 70 then feel free to grab 5 at a time.

Im a holy pally and this is easy even with only 8k HP. Grab 4-6 of them... consecrate, consecrate flash of light consecrate consecrate, flash of light, LOOT. On my hunter it is even easier. Aimed shot arcane shot auto shot have pet finish them off , rinse and repeat.

No matter what class/spec you are this should be easy. Im a cheep a$$ poor mofo so I don’t buy anything off the AH. I grind for it. I have tried grinding in other places for these but this is the best place IMO. Also there are not very many other people grinding this spot so you should be there pretty much uncontested.

People Quagg ridge isn't the best place, Go to the lagoon south east and farm on those islands there are like 8 on each you aoe them all together and u get them easily. I made 2 primals in less than 20 mins so far.

the best place to farm this imo is from the guys the person who posted with mob info was talking about. they are in the far NE of zangamarsh, and as of 2.4 after about a half hour of farming, and two primals later, i was seeing about a 40-100% droprate for motes from these guys, i can probably get 4 primals an hour, but that is re-specd ret for grinding with crappy gear (full blues). have fun

NE Zangermarsh, crappy geared Enhance Shammy, was able to get my first 2 and half Primals before windfury even run out (30 mins).

Need to farm four for my 30+ healing on my resto bracers.

The dead mire in zang to NE is easier to farm since the bogs and stuff are closer together and have low hp

I agree with above post...
The bog lords in the Dead Mire give about 25% drop and their much quicker to kill.

With my hunter it was a lot less trouble since the bog lords in the dead mire don't drop mushrooms with a slowing affect

Just got 3 primals (30 motes) in abut an hour off the Bog lords and Fungal giants.. in the Quagg Ridge of Zangarmarsh

This may not be the cheapest way, But I found its one of the easier ways to get primal life.

Due to the REALLY REALLY low price of primal earth, I recommend just buying primal earths and having them transmuted. You might pay a 5g tip and the primal earth is about 3-5g (varies depending on server).

Im pretty sure that because primal earths are so common in mining, they are low on everyones server.

Well, I wouldn't do a tranmute for you for a 5g tip. That blows my cooldown for one day - a cooldown I could have used to make 25g or so by buying one primal and making a more expensive one (earth to life, mana to fire), or making a diamond or primal might.

If you can find someone to transmute for you for 5g, well, more power to ya.

Generally, if you're not a herbalist, you're probably better off buying primal life from the AH, since herbalists are better at farming it. Use the time you would have spent farming to instead farm something you're good at (like water, air, mana or shadow for engineers, or fire since nobody has that easier).

I Personaly go to the place near Sporregar in Zangermarsh and kill bog lords and get Spore Sacs.At the same time i get Mote of Life which i use to make Primal Life which i sell for 20g at the AH, and i also get spore sacs which i turn in for rep for Sporregar,

Blizz should make the primal earth to life not have a cooldown anymore. BC content is dinosaur stuff and the ink trader in Dalaran should trade snowfall ink for any of the lesser rare inks.

Blizzard CANT take off the Primal cooldowns... those and Eternals will always have a cooldown because of Master of Transmutation. Since the transmutes offered could continuously cycle, nonstop, Master Transmuters would simply rotate a single Primal Shadow to Water and then back again... over and over again... reaping every proc as pure profit.

Since they are 1 to 1 transmutes, they must be cooldown controlled. Now, Primal Might has no Transmute CD nor does Titanium... that's because they aren't revertible transmutes.

If you are a Tranmute Miner like myself... you understand...
