The chest piece drops from "Shadow of Doom" during the scourge event for WOLTK. Give the casters channeling 8 runes and they turn into "Shadow of Doom". Items are random drops. Had 4 plate and 3 cloth chests drop for 2 different spawn points.

So you want to get this set...

Chest - is a rare drop from Shadow of Doom
Legs - are a drop from any of the rare spawns at the invasion points. (It's random between the other legs -- epic always drops)

Shoulders and Gloves are bought from Argent Quartermaster for 15 Necrotic Rune each. They cannot be bought until you have completed Under the Shadow.

The set is recolored Paladin tier 2 (Judgement). This set can no longer be obtained as of 11/10/08.

We likely won't see this event again because of how the story plays out. Arthas is the leader of the Scourge, and he is also the final boss in Northrend.

It's good DPS gear but there's alot better armor then this set. (different colored paladin tier2 gear)

The Shadows of Doom are also easily soloable by any ret paladin. My ret in blues/greens can solo this mob by doing a very simple tactic: Run standard divine storm, crusader, judgment, exorcism, hammer of justice ect till you are about to die, at this point just repentance the the Shadow, and run around judging lesser mobs for free mana to heal yourself. While incapacitated, the Shadow will only regen mana, and not health. Use bubble/loh/wings whenever you want to dish out extra damage before you incapacitate the mob, and always be sure to wait until your repentance is back up before you start dps'ing the mob down again.

Spaulders & Gloves
To be able to bough the spaulders and the gloves, you need to complete the quest Under the Shadows. The spaulders is blue quality, i hope this is a bug... i hate to wear blue now lol. The leather version is blue too humm :(
Each of the 2 piece cost 15 Necrotic Runes on the Argent Quartermaster.

Trash and runes
To get as much as possible Necrotic Runes... wait on late hours server time (around 3am)... most place are desert. As a holy paly (human) i was able to gather alot of undeads and just Consecration/Holy Wrath them all. Just spam Flash Light while consecrating and you may end with ~10-15 after each each pull if you are lucky.

Shadow of Doom & Chest piece
For the Shadow of Doom, just go clear a way out as i said up there and only summon 1 at time. They dont hit that hard, you should be able to heal through their attack, just keep Judgement of Wisdom from the Seal of Vengeance on them the whole time, you may never end off of mana. When it die, it drop 30 Necrotic Runes and sometimes the chest token.

Leg piece
You will find 3 kind of rarespawn spawning while killing the undeads: Bone Witch, Lumbering Horror or Spirit of the Damned. They are not hard to kill. If you dont see them around, just keep going they usualy spawn on the 2nd phase.

for all you chanters out there this is an easy way to make Void Crystals. costs only 15 runes and DE's for about 1.25 viod crystal. can be done with drops as well. i got about 18 of them in only a couple of hours, and if your the only chanter in the group, no on else needs the runes after the initial 40 (10 for quest and 15x2 for the armor) other than the 8 to summon shadows.

As salted fish said, this shouldn't be too bad for a ret pally at 70. I am levelling ret atm and at 62, go in and help out the guild 70s take these mobs down. Good for collecting the runes and getting the drops. I have the 2 pieces purchased so far. Should be an excellent starter set for me as soon as I hit 70.

This set is perfect for Blood Knights (prefer that term or BKs then Belfadins XD) using SoB. It scales with haste/hit/crit (JoB still uses coefficent of spell dmg). SoB deals more dmg then SoC the faster the weapon speed it is (3.0 and lower). The set lacks in atk pwr, crit aswell as hit rating but for those just wear the following to get you all setup:

Shattered Sun Pendant of Resolve for the added hit rating which also gives you a nice expertise for added solo utility.

Darkmoon Card: Crusader for stacking spell dmg (which helps the dmg of JoB, DS, CS) and atk pwr

Darkmoon Card: Wrath for stacking crit rating. Works best if you have low crit rating since the more you miss the more this card works for you. Its usefulness becomes useless when you hit crit percentage of 25%+.

NOTE: For the Card trinkets, SoB's dmg every swing counts as a separate atk or direct dmg (2 for the price of 1). So if both hit you get +12 atk pwr, +12 spell dmg, (both maxxed to 120 lasting until you stop atking for 10 sec) and +37 crit rating (wont stop stacking that is, until you crit).

Merciless Gladiator's Painsaw for its 2.2 atk spd (w/ haste: 1.9 something atk spd) or Khorium Champion with 3.3 atk spd (w/ haste: 2.8 something atk spd). Either choice is good: both epic, both dps over 100, but Champion has hit rating, chance to heal you and raise atk pwr by 240, and higher end dmg then Painsaw, while the added crit of the Painsaw lowers the usefulness of Wrath card. Your choice really. If you cant get Wrath Card then Painsaw is the choice.

Then just get enchants and other pieces that add to hit, haste, Str/atk pwr, or stats/spd.

Crusader enchant on the Khorium Champion is great to offset the hp loss from SoB and you get atk pwr increase of 360 when both proc :) For Painsaw I suggest Iron Counterweight or Mongoose. Though Savagery would make the Painsaw actually look like you would feel the pain 8D

This whole set is probably for plate wearers when they first enter Northrend. Think about it. The Argent Dawn are selling new trinkets and there's new undead gear. So if anything these new trinkets and armor that are part of the event are to help you slay the undead and when you first enter Northrend you'll probably need this stuff. Just some food for thought.

The shadows can be taken down by 2 people if you are a healer and tank but be advised it takes a large ammount of time and you will pull the non elites. Good thing is that you have to use shards to unlock the mobs, meaning you wont have to face 4 at a time.

It is easy to get the full set on your first attempt at one of the invasion points (all gear + trinkets par legs) this is due to the fact alot of shards drop. I managed to get everything apart from the legs. If u wanna get these you will have to go to all invasion points and hope for the best.

At level 68 on my ret pally, I was running around with a couple 70's aoe killing the undead for this. I got the 4 pieces before 70. So I got 70 a day or so later, equipped the items, and an hour later went into kara. With this set and the rest of your gear in decent blues, you are easily geared to dps in kara, so it seems like (to me, at least) that this is just another attempt by blizzard to get everyone geared to prepare for the expansion.

I have yet to confirm that you cannot get the set anymore, but if you have a toon below 70 and have the 4 pieces, it should be good enough to get you started in the expansion.

Pretty glad I held onto this set. Nearly forgot I even had it until I went looking through the bank. I have also been looking for a good helm to match the set and the best I have found so far is the Mask of Penance. While it does not match it perfectly if you need to have a helm on while wearing the set its the best I have found so far.

I've been working on making this look like a complete set. Above I listed the Valorous Aegis Helm and since then, I'm more sure its the best matching helm. It's a shame you must run Ulduar 10m to get it. It is unavailable for a warrior, but DKs need not worry, they wouldn't have the battlegear set anyways. I've also come across the best cloak, belt, and boots to match (bracers are up to you since they aren't viewable).

The Dark Phantom Cape, a world drop rare, and the Girdle of the Immovable, a Slave Pen's drop, are relatively easy to come by. The Alabaster Plate Greaves are a bit more tricky as they are world drops, and there are less people posting green quality items on the AH these days.

As mentioned before, I don't have a warrior available helm list here. Feel free to post your choice of helms. If you disagree on the cloak/belt/boots, I'm open to alternatives and would be quite interested in them.

I put a ticket in, in an attempt to get this set back. I still have the shoulders, but due to bag space deleted the rest. But even with my shoulders and argent dawn tabard in my bags, the GM could not find any info that I had acquired the other items :( /crymoar. at least I have the shoulders still.

The set is just sweet. Hunters/shaman had the same look with different shoulders, it was very cool looking.

Anyone had any luck getting this set back?

For those looking to take it a step further with the transmog, there is an awesome matching mount in Vortex Pinnacle - Reins of the Drake of the North Wind. Got it on my paladin and was amazed at how well it looked together. Will post a screen shot of them together to show D:

Dusted these off for mogging. Guaranteed to turn heads in stormwind and get whispers of "where in the name of <expletive deleted> did you get those" . Best of all, not worn by every tom, richard and harry the way T6 is. I recommend using Reinforced bio-optic killshades for your hat, and if you;re a SMF like me, the Silent crusader for maximum badass points. Scary!

However, I'm still trying to get my hands on Chromatically Tempered Sword because I think it is a better fit with the shield and Jade Circlet for a headpiece.

Ok, so.... TBC Classic is on the WoTLK pre-patch now. The plague event has started today. When does this gear unlock and how can I farm it before it's gone again? Help would be appreciated. I really don't want to miss this again. I was playing during the original but had no clue what was happening.
