edited to add 4 more ...I've found 7 so far. I don't know if you have to have the lumber mill to get the achievement. Someone has to have built a lumbermill to Cut the Toughened Vines, but once the vines are dealt with anyone can loot the treasure.

These only seem to count if you get garrison resources from them.

I was able to go in a group and loot the items and it gave me the progress towards the achievement. At first I was party leader and it didn't work, then I set to FFA and it still didn't work. As soon as I passed lead to the person with Mechashredder5000, it started giving me progress towards the achievement when I looted. **The party leader, with the ability, had to loot the object underneath first and then I could loot for it to count***

I do not have the lumbermill and did not want to do on another toon or redo my arena. So this was a very nice alternative.

After you cut down vines your character jumps out shredder BUT IF YOU ARE STILL IN IT AND LOOT TREASURE, it bugs and you don't get any rewards, even not any garrison resources. I tried 3 in a row just to make SURE.

Gimi's waypoints are a great help! There is an issue with cave entrances. The tappable roots only existed within the caves and not at the entrances. As mentioned in other comments, there is a bug that exists which causes the tap not to count toward the achievement, but this is only in appearance. The count is increasing whenever you loot resources. Keep in mind that this is a one time loot and only counts once per loot. Any attempt to re-tap the node will result in the root disappearing and no chest underneath. The lack of anything underneath the root should be visible if you've already looted it. If you loot while still in the shredder, this will cause the bug to make it seem like the loot is not counting, however, as stated by Malfious, logging out and back into the game will give you the achievement. There is still an additional bug that shows the achievement in your Y-pane as grey and incomplete even though the bar reads "12/12" and is full (green). A bug report was submitted for this particular issue, so even though your achievement isn't colored in or showing up on your recent achievement in the summary pane, it is in the system for your character.

The Mechashredder 5000 is an ability you get if you chose the Lumber Yard (as opposed to the Sparring Arena) as your building at your base in Highpass, Goregrond. It is chosen through the quest Ci serve un avamposto. It is the Mechashredder 5000 that lets you cut the Hardened Thornvines and loot them.

If you initially chose the Sparring Arena, you got follower Pitfigher Vaandaam. If you now want the Mechashredder 5000, so that you can complete the achievement Pazzo per i Segatronchi, you are stuck.

Unlike your base at Fort Wrynn in Talador, where you can pay Caposquadra Eksos 5,000g in order to build a new structure, your base at Highpass is permanent.

The only workaround would be to:

create a new character
group with a party leader who has a Mechashredder 5000, and let them cut the vines (and loot) before you

These only count if you are NOT mounted when you click on them - wondered why some weren't counting and then discovered this

The Mechashredder 5000 is required for this acheev. If you initially chose the Sparring Arena, you got follower Pitfigher Vaandaam. If you now want the Mechashredder 5000, so that you can complete the achievement Shredder Maniac, you can change it for 5000 gold.

If you chose the Arena before, you CAN change to Lumber mill. But don't be a fool like me, running around for hours all over Gorgrond to find the NPC to change it. That goblin lady is sitting right in front of the arena in Beastwatch (Horde). Have 5000 gold ready, she knows you'll pay that much for one more achievement!

Although mentioned in other posts, its important to note:
You MUST loot the skulls/vault/etc that appears after shredding or the vine will not count towards achievement
