for as many awards as this costs, i wish they would have gave it a special ability such as pulling a northern spice out of the hat or something useful to the cooking profession in general.

I think players should be required to get the Chef title before being able to buy the hat. It just seems fitting.

I have always thought if you got the chef title you should get proc chance when making food. like the way people get extra flask or other crafted items. I hope that this hat will have some sort of hidden benefit like that.

A great long-term achievement for all the Cooking fans out there.
Yes, it will take a while to get it, but so do some of the other achievements out there.

Considering the Northerend Spices AH cost (3-5G) this hat will cost you 3000-5000G (1 Cooking award = 10 spices). Interesting if they add some kind of bonus such as "Equip: your Northerend recipes will often consume no spices"... but as for now it looks like a gold sink.

The hat is a vanity item. It's not meant to have a use other than for "style". Blizzard has several of these type items as achievements (chopper, tundra mammoth)

Unconfirmed rumors say that this hat also has a very small chance to drop from the Small Spice Bag also rewarded from the cooking dailies!

However, if this is not true, lets do some math, cause everyone loves math!

Lets say you do the cooking daily every day. Let's also say the Mustard Dogs! daily comes up (on average) every 5th day, giving you two awards instead of one. According to wow head, the small spice bag also has ~ 20% drop rate of another cooking award. That means, in 10 days, you should get 14 cooking awards.

Using the science of mathematics, we can say that if you currently have 0 awards, it will take you 72 days of cooking dailies to get this hat! Of course, some people may be luckier or unluckier than that, but this is strictly average!

IMO, they should make it so that you can exchange 10 spices for 1 award - it will reward those who stockpiled spices, as well as driving the price up for those of us who wish to make money :P

Accidental purchases made with 'Alternative Currency' can now be refunded for their full cost within 2 hours of in-game time. This can be done at any vendor by 'right clicking' the item with the vendor window open.

I recently saved up enough for a Chef's Hat for my rogue, having had the Chef title for more than a month now. Having the hat made me want to complete the ensemble, so I hit the auction house and here's what I came up with!

The Wildheart Gloves are very elegant, the shades of purple and indigo going well with my night elf's skin and hair while the crescent moon symbol is a great unique touch. The Silver-thread Boots look amazing with the gloves and the belt. My belt came from 25-man Naxxramas, but most belts should work.

As of Patch 3.2, The hat will now raise cooking speed. Not that much, but at least it's something (As well as a great status symbol that one has to earn, not just buy).

As of MoP, the cooking currency will be standardized so you'll be able to earn your chef's hat from doing cooking dailies anywhere!

Can someone help me?
I have the Hat on another Character. Therefore he had the Achievement.
But now with the Hat beeing a Toy, do i need to buy it again to get it on another Character?
I use the Character Achievement Addon which says i do but when i sort the List for Achievements i m done with. This one is on it.
I dont mind to get it again but would like to know if i have to.

Cappello da Chef is sold for 100 Premio Epicureo by:

Derek Odds - Dalaran (Alliance)
Misensi - Dalaran (Horde)
Mera Cavalca Nebbia - Corona di Ghiaccio (Neutral)

This achievement should be account wide and earned by adding the Cappello da Chef to your Toy Box (not by purchasing the item from a vendor).

Why? Two reasons:
1) The Cappello da Chef, once added to the Toy Box, is available account wide.
2) The Cappello da Chef (which costs 100x Premio Epicureos, taking approximately a month to earn) cannot be refunded like other currency items because purchasing it awards the achievement. Instead, it sells for 1 copper (a costly and time consuming mistake to make if purchased accidently).

Because for some unknown reason Blizz hasn't deleted this dead currency: Premio Epicureo and its ensuing time-gates, here's how to actually do this:

Grind up 2500 Distintivo Fuoritempo.
Wait for Wrath time walking.
Buy 100 Sacchetto di Spezie from the TW vendor in old Dalaran.
Open the bags to get 100 Premio Epicureo instantly.
Buy your Cappello da Chef + achievement from your factions cooking trainer in old Dalaran.

Obviously this won't work for you if you're a new player, but for those of us with thousands of unused badges with nothing to spend them on, this is the simplest and quickest way to get the toy and achievement.
