In Wrath:

L67+ green items that drop in Northrend DE into Infinite Dust and other Wrath mats.

L67-70 green items that drop in Outland DE into Arcane Dust and other BC mats.

I determined the latter by transferring a character to the beta who had a bank full of greens I pulled off the AH. They all DE'ed into Arcane Dust etc.

I don't know if it's possible to tell which continent a 67-70 BOE green is from.

My l62 lock on Ysera disenchanted 2 of these from an AH purchase on Thursday. It was in the middle of a big de session and I didn't notice it in my bags until afterwards (it just looked like some more dust). I uploaded the data to Wowhead, but don't know how long it'll take to show up here...

Around 125g average on my server. Reason why it's so high is because most crafting professions only make greens up to level 74 requirement, meaning 1-2 dust per DE. After 74 it's all superior crafts, making dream shards ridiculously easy to obtain. So in other words you can't 'craft' your own stacks of dust without spending immense amounts of materials for just one stack, making them rather scarce unless you get alot of drops from a high level zone like Storm Peaks or Ice Crown. Until we get some higher item level green craftables, don't expect to see these for less than 100g a stack.

As with ALL enchanting mats this stuff is RIDICULOUSLY over priced on AH.... surprise surprise all because people are greedy. i need it for Tailoring, I have found that this is the only thing that is holding me back. i am fed up with people putting this on the AH over priced, on the Saurfang Alliance AH today Frostweave cloth is going for 28g a stack.

With the hot fix from this morning, I disenchanted several bags of Northrend greens. Disenchanting greens that would normally yield 2-5 Infinite Dust are now yielding 4-7 Infinite Dust. Still getting 1-2 Greater Cosmic Essences though.

I am trying to work up my enchanting and have found I need tons of infinite dust. I could pay heavily for it at the auction house or gather my own. Does anyone know a great place to farm greens to get the most infinite dust possible?

There's actually an easier way to get this type of dust. It would be very helpful to have tailoring or a friend that does.
Duskweave Boots can be made from a pair of Frostwoven Boots (20xFrostweave Cloth and 1xEternium Thread) and 2xCrystalized Shadow.

Pros:
- Less cloth needed(almost double ammount of items)
- Same amount of eternium threads used
- Item lvl is higher than for Duskweave Belt so you might get more dust

Cons:
- You need Crystalized Shadow(which are easy to get)
- More time to create the items(about 10seconds more per item)

So if you want to get illusion dust cheap this is guaranteed to give you alot more for less money. There is the time issue also because you will end up loosing more time. The choice is yours.

I use Enchantrix to price greens on the AH for their DE value, and I found these numbers useful in modifying the weight given to Northrend greens.

*Armor pieces have a 75% chance to drop Infinite Dust, 20% chance to drop Lesser/Greater Cosmic Essence, and 5% chance to drop Dream Shard/Small Dream Shard. This was not changed by the hotfix.

This is an ingredient used in most moderate level enchants in WotLK.

With the introduction of the "disenchant" loot option for group loot, combined with the Dungeon Finder system, the price of this item has reduced dramatically, from around 10g a piece to sometimes less than 2g. 'Tis a happy day for the levelling enchanter.

I found the best way to obtain both Infinite Dust and Frostweave Cloth in between of Aldur'Thar and Corp'Rethar. The little area you have to fly from after you've done Threat From Above and down to Battle Before the Citadel. There you will find big groups of mobs called Converted Hero. There drops a lot of Frostweave Cloth and green quality items, in addition to a lot of gray quality items which can be sold for a lot. Got over 100 infinite dust in 20 minutes.

Killing those Converted Hero's in Icecrown sucked for me, I farmed them for 20 minutes and got several grays, 75 Frostweave Cloth (that was good) and 1 green which of course DE'ed into Greater Cosmic Essence and not what I actually need at the moment, then again that was 1 green and I need hundreds of Infinite Dust.

Yea I kinda give up on this. I spent an hour farming ores to make some BS items, sent them all to my druid. I disenchanted them all and only got 5 of this dust and a whole lot of essence. Not even enough to make one enchant and i need to do this for about another 50 skills levels...

Greater Potency is a great enchant! It only takes 2 infinite dust, draw back is it takes 4 lesser cosmic essence. However on my realm it is a lot cheaper to get. Actually it was cheaper to get the greater Cosmic essence, so I got 3 lessers for 10g each.

So if infinite dust is rare and hard to get or just expensive, try this enchant and hopefully the essence is cheaper. Its a lot easier to do.

arctic boots from leatherworking is by far the best way to get infinite dust. i usually get 2 or 3 dusts from each boot. Borean leather is pretty cheap on my server so it was much easier to make then using the frostweave cloth to make stuff. I just sell the cloth and make a pretty penny. :)

Cobalt ore is really easy to farm on a 310 flier in Howling Fjord, by far the best pattern if you have a BS (and a miner) is the Horned Cobalt Helm. Which was yielding 5-7 infinite dust per DE, and the random essence, at only 8 bars. I was definitely pleased, but my fiance wasn't! Since he's the BS between us :P

I was using Arctic Boots for a while (was getting 2-3, and essences), but the helm is waaaay better, imo.

I recently rerolled and figured I'd pick up enchanting. I'm currently doing the 400-425 portion, and don't have a limitless supply of gold to fund it.

Infinite Dust has by far been the worst part of it all, for me at least. I saved every green I got while leveling through Wrath, and all that was still not enough to supply my enchanting needs. The AH isn't helping either, with the dust going for over 100g/stack. Can't wait to see what my rod is going to cost.

i have killed some converted hero's for a wile and i used the cloth to make items.
for me that was a mistake, i found it was bether just to sell the cloth in the ah and buy the dust in the ah, ofc i sold the cloth at 40g stack and buy the dust at 120-140g the stack

so i just farm the converted heroe's for the cloth and sold it on the ah to buy the dust.

in only 20min farm i got:

19 g
176 frostweave cloth
44g worth on trash drop

total of 415g

perhaps it was my luck on disechanting just to get 2-3 dust and some shard/escense, try on your own, but i found this metod les random

I have tailoring as well as enchanting the way i found to yield the most infinite dust is by farming a lot of frostweave cloth, make frostwoven belt out of all the cloth you collected then disenchant.. every one gives you at least 3 dust. i made 7 belts and i got 21 dust. this is the best method i have found

I was farming the cultists inside of Aldur'Thar (inside the building) and got quite a bit of frostweave due to their high spawn and drop rates. This wasn't fast enough for me, however, so I checked my JC character and found out that Stoneguard Band and Shadowmight Ring are ilvl 162 and super easy to make. Stoneguard costs 2 Eternal Earth while Shadowmight costs 1 Earth and 1 Shadow. I had a bunch of these (especially the earths) sitting around and also had a bunch of frozen orbs left over from wrath which you can use to buy them in Dalaran.

From 26 crafted JC items (mostly the rings mentioned above, with some 138 rings/necks) I got:

71 Infinite Dust
10 Greater Cosmic Essence
1 Lesser Cosmic Essence
1 Small Dream Shard

Item level is your strongest indicator. Most Enchanting addons will tell you what a particular item is supposed to DE into (I use Enchantrix, which comes bundled with Auctioneer).

Low-level Azeroth greens disenchant into Strange Dust, Soul Dust, or Vision Dust;
I won't get into the details because they're only important while you're just getting started as an Enchanter.
Old-world greens with item level 56-65 disenchant into Polvere Illusoria Leggera.
Outland greens have item level 66-120, and will DE into .
Northrend greens have item level 130-180, and DE into Infinite Dust.
Cataclysmic greens start around ilvl 270 and go up to 333; these will disenchant into Polvere Ipnotica.

Duskweave Belt is the most efficient Tailored item to DE as of 3.0.9.

By extension, that means that when one Infinite Dust costs less than about 7 sheets of Frostweave Cloth*, you're probably better off selling your cloth and buying Dust, assuming profit is your sole motive. If you're contemplating mass purchases and/or powerleveling your professions, you'll want to weigh the commissions charged at the Auction House, the randomness inherent in Disenchanting, and the value of any potential skill-ups.

* Duskweave Belt currently averages 5.5 Dust for 35 Frostweave Cloth. Cloth per dust = 35 / 5.5 = 6.3636, repeating of course; round up to 7 to account for the cost of Eternium Thread.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME QUESTING OR GRINDING EXPENSIVE CRAFTER ITEMS FOR THESE!

Frantumazione Abissale is simply and by far the best way to farm this stuff, in my humble opinion. My friend has an 80 twink, and he runs heroic WotLK dungeons fairly often. While he isn't an enchanter himself, he got 13 Cristallo dell'Abissos from disenchant rolls and gave them to me. I proceeded to give them to a guildy with Abyssal Shatter, who promptly shattered them and gave me the product:

86x Polvere Infinita
14x Essenza Cosmica Superiore,

Ranging in quantities of 7-15 Dust (15 may have been guild perk, so conservatively 7-10), or 3-4 Essence per Shatter.

Now, if you could get a guildy or high level alt with enchanting to run WotLK heroics or raids with, you could easily fulfill your quota of Polvere Infinita in a timely manner. Just by doing the 3 ICC dungeons every day and disenchanting the spoils, you could get 8 (or closer to 10, don't remember which bosses drop 2 loots) Cristallo dell'Abisso which yields anywhere between 3 and 7 stacks of dust. Very preferable in contrast to farming Northrend quests/greens, or combing the AH.

An excellent way to gather these (as well as other Wrath enchanting materials) is to get 3-5 friends to assist you in doing naxx 25. Take all the epics and DE them, and shatter the abyss crystals. You also get quite a hefty amount of greens.

Alternatively, you could do other raids, i just suggest naxx because it's the easiest of the wrath raids with a lot of bosses. You could solo 10m if you wanted to. Solo'ing 25 is possible, but it appears its faster to solo heroics then it would be 25m bosses.

If you do Violet Hold HC you get 3 greens (BoE) and have a skinner and LW, you get a lot of Borean Leather from all the mobs around 80 in total for one run, which i then made Iceborne Gloves, requiring 8 borean leather, so therefore after 20 minutes of farming on my 85 I had 13 BoEs which i then sent to my Enchanter to DE and i got around 34 infinite dust. Just hope this can help some people!

DEFINITELY GET YOUR HANDS ON SOME Abyss Crystal

I dont care how you do it. JUST DO IT. Some of my guildies were fortune enough to have several stacks lying around, i got about 80 abyss crystals for FREE from guildies of which i never even knew where stashing what seems to be useless to them.

After DE-ing, i got about over 500+ infiniti dust and they equally give you a SH*T load of the greater cosmic essences which is ALWAYS fantastic.

If you cant get a free hand-me-down, def go farm this stuff as 1 can pop 8 infinities like its magic cakes!

In regard to the Abyss Shatter way of getting these - you can purchase lvl 80 armor in Dalaran for low honor/JP and DE it for a Abyss Crystal (chance of 2 with guild perk)

There are items costing as low as 200 honor/jp than can be disenchanted - great if you have enchanters, that you don't play, with excess points!

As has been said before, as of 4.3, towards the end of Cata, the best way to obtain dust was to shatter Abyss Crystals. I bought 85 crystals at around 30g each, and ended up with 26 stacks of infinite dust, as well as around 10 stacks of Greater Cosmic Essences. This may be a bit expensive for some but it is a huge time saver especially if you have a high level chanter who can quickly blow these up for you.

The best way to farm Polvere Infinita is by shattering Cristallo dell'Abisso, crafting items or using Honor and Justice points to buy items to disenchant is a good way to get Cristallo dell'Abisso but not the fastest or most efficient.

The best way I have found to farm Cristallo dell'Abisso in order to get enchanting mats is to run The Forge of Souls, which is the first dungeon in Icecrown Citadel.

On my 378 ilvl Fire Mage I was able to fully clear the Instance in twelve to thirteen minutes, which aligns perfectly with the five dungeon an hour limit. A main point when running The Forge of Souls is that you do not want to take the portal at the end of the dungeon which takes you to The Pit of Saron. This will count as you entering a dungeon and limit the amount of times you can run The Forge of Souls. You will have to run back through but there is a short cut on the first circle platform which means you only spend one to two minutes running back.

I did five runs of The Forge of Souls which took me one hour and six minutes. Here is everything I got during those five runs.

Gold drop and Grey items: 160g
Frostweave(Northern Cloth Scavenging): 156
Greens(ilvl 170-178): 10 (I average 2 greens per run)
Boss Epics: 15
Trash BoP Epics: 3

After the five runs of The Forge of Souls I disenchanted my greens and Epics and ended up with
Greens: 40 Polvere Infinita and 5 Essenza Cosmica Superiore
Epics: 20 Cristallo dell'Abisso (2 proc from Bountiful Bags)

After Shattering my 20 Cristallo dell'Abisso I got: 120 Polvere Infinita and 20 Essenza Cosmica Superiore

Total: 160 Polvere Infinita and 25 Essenza Cosmica Superiore

Note: I usually only get one Trash BoP Epic per five runs, but I also usually get 4-5 proc from Bountiful Bags so it evens out.

As of 5.0.5 patch, abyssal shatter seem to have been removed! Cannot find it from any trainers nor is it possible to just DE abyssals straight forward.

Here's a fast way to get infinite dust. You can get 4 to 5 abyssal crystals within 8 minutes and then use Abyssal Shatter to convert that into infinite dust. That includes making it from the entrance of the instance and back.

Needed: Level 90 with Enchanting

Start by going to Pit of Saron.

Mount up and go to the stairs of the first boss on the right. You will aggro some mobs. If you have Shadowmeld or Invisibility, pop that once you hit the stairs. Burn boss down. Next, mount up again and go all the way to Ick. Pull him with a ranged spell. Don't pull him too far away from his area or he will reset. As soon as he drops, mount up and run up the hill. If you are fast enough, you will avoid all the packs of mobs up the hill. Go through the tunnel all the way to the end and then burn all the mobs at the end. Burn the boss down. You can jump off the platform at the end and head back to the entrance and reset.

Done with 90 Mage with 442 item iLvl with no problems.

Sitting at 369 enchanting, I decided to run through the three ICC dungeons (having not done the quests on my level 88 priest). The greens at this level give between 4-7 Infinite Dust, as well as the odd Dream Shard and Cosmic Essence.

Clearing all three dungeons gave me:

14x Greens = 44x Infinite Dust
11x Epics = Abyss Crystals
143x Frostweave Cloth = 28 bolts which in turn made 9x Frostwoven Shoulders, giving me another 21 Infinite Dust.

This gave me enough materials to get up to 390 enchanting for Abyssal Shatter. If you're lucky, shattering the Abyss Crystal will give you 10x Infinite Dust (or between 2-6x Greater Cosmic Essence) each time.

With the materials on hand, I was able to level up to 417 without having to buy any extra materials (except recipes from the trainer) which isn't bad for an extra 48 skill points.

Time to tear up the enchanting guides! This is what you need from 370 to 450 and forget about Polvere Infinita. These are much cheaper because the guides don't mention them as when the guides were written they were expensive!
Start off with Essenza Cosmica Inferiore and make Attributi Eccellenti then switch to Essenza Cosmica Superiore at level 375 and make Raccolta all the way to level 395. After that move onto Salute Vigorosa to level 410 then it's Precisione all the way to 430.
Get some Frammento Onirico which are also cheap and make Armatura Eccezionale to level 440 and finish off with Assalto Superiore al the way to level 450.
This way is much cheaper than the route the online guides suggest!

Need a bunch of Abyss Crystals so that you can use Abyssal Shatter to get Infinite Dust? Simple. With so many Justice Points and Honor Points and nothing to do with them, just buy Level 80 Wrathful Gladiator offhands for 190 Honor Points, or Level 80 offhands for 290 Justice Points and disenchant them.

Note: You will need Infinite Dust in order to skill up to Abyssal Shatter, but once you do this is by far the easiest way to farm Abyss Crystals/Infinite Dust.

Tailoring item Duskweave Belt is a pretty good bet for this enchanting material, as are the other Duskweave items, but this one requires the fewest Bolt of Frostweave to craft. The best place I've found to farm Frostweave Cloth (speaking as a lvl 90 Shadow Priest) is the Cathedral of Darkness in Icecrown (entrance @ 45,77).

Chosen Zealots kneel along the tables on either side, and once you aggro one of them, the rest on that side will glom onto you in about 10 seconds. At 90, these are easily wiped out with a few applications of Mind Sear. I like standing as close to the middle candelabra as possible to attract them evenly. From the beginning of the "fight" until that group respawns again is about 2 minutes and 30 to 40 seconds, so you have time to run to the door, summon your Traveler's Tundra Mammoth and sell the junk, DE drops, and craft bolts of cloth. I've found this farming location to be VERY lucrative. The average gold looted per group is about 5g, and the junk is well worth selling. Hope this helps.

You can also try to solo Naxxramas (10 man).

I did it on my enchanter character ended up with 214 infinite dust 24 greater cosmic essences and 142 frostweave + i got 2 out of 3 rare pets in my run also.

The rare pets go on my realm also for about 400 - 500 G (level1).

In total i spended 1h 30m inside so it isnt to long and if your interested in transmo well thats another extra.

I wanted to share another way to get some easy Infinite Dust, but for this you need a Tailor with at least 370 of skill, and the Passive effect from Northern Cloth Scavenging. (This can be obtained from the quest: Cloth Scavenging) This is also considering you are leveling an enchanter, and have the possibility to disenchant the following items.

So let's get to the point: Every level 90 can easily solo Naxxrammas now, and there is a great way to get Frostweave Cloth and WotLK greens doing this.
Here is a guide on how to do it properly: Naxxrammas Farming Cloth and Greens.
It's a guide for cloth farming, and it also yields a fair amount of greens. The greens have a high ilvl, and will give a lot of dust per item.

After doing this run 5 times, which took me about 30 minutes, this is what I ended up with:

408 Frostweave Cloth
26 WotLK Greens

I crafted all the cloth into bolts, and made Frostwoven Belt to disenchant. After disenchanting all the green drops and the crafted belts, this is what I got:

142 Infinite Dust
15 Greater Cosmic Essence
12 Lesser Cosmic Essence
3 Dream Shard

Considering this only took me 30 minutes, I'd say it's a quite good method. Any class with many gap closers like WW Monks could do this in 20-25 minutes. There is one thing you have to remember though; The only downside with this method is that you can only do 5 runs an hour. However, it should give you the dust you need to get from 350-370 in enchanting. At that point you no longer need dust, as there are much cheaper alternatives to reach 450.

I have found the Holy Grail of all Frostweave Farming locations.
I read all the comments, some places were good, but I simply don't have the patience to get a few cloth here and there, especially on a PvP server with gankers.
Cathedral of darkness is NOT that great.

Step 1:
Head to Naxxramas on 25 Player difficulty; Save yourself past the 1st boss of the Plague Quarter by defeating the first encounter. Note: If you are not level 85 or higher but wish to farm this, you may need a helper just to defeat the 1st boss one time in a given week and then you can feel safe to continue solo farming.
Step 2 (The fun part):
The bats after 1st boss can be mass pulled at one time, ALWAYS dropping between 30 and 40 (sometimes 50) Frostweave in ONE pull! This is without the Tailoring bonus for extra cloth! Those with the Tailoring Profession can expect anywhere from the same to far greater results.
Note: Remember to loot the corpses multiple times, as sometimes so much cloth drops that it does not fit in the 1st loot window thanks to mass looting.
Step 3:
Afterwords, run out, reset the instance, and then switch the difficulty to 10man (Don't worry, this is a one time difficulty change, and you will stay on 10 man the rest of the week.)
Now run in, mass pull bats, loot your crazy amounts of cloth, run out, reset instance, repeat!
* Not kidding I got upwards of 10 to 15 stacks in around 10 minutes without the Cloth Scavenging bonus!
* For the seasoned and hardcore farmers, I recommend keeping a stack of Darkwater Potion on you for all your runs to truly get the most cloth for your time spent. (Note: this is completely optional and not required by any means.)
* On a side-note, you can also expect to grab quite a few pieces of random gear, ranging from high vendor greens, to high AH price BoE epics!

- Obviously you'll then have a waiting period since you can't enter more than 5 times in an hour, but oh lord is it AMAZING! Forget these places people are saying has high drop-rates, this is quick, painless, in/out, immune to PvP gankers, and anyone level 85 and up can do this, which I'd assume you would be if u expected to farm Northrend mobs fast in the first place.
- As you're waiting for 5-Instance/hr limit to reset, you can be using your cloth for leveling that pesky Tailoring, making bank on the Auction House, or slow-farming some of the suggested places from other users in your down time, and as soon as the hour is done, hit up Naxx again for more loads of cloth, as often as you like all week!

EDIT: Created an easier to follow step-by-step. Do not worry, both steps 1 and 2 are to set up your cloth farming for the entire week. After you have done the 1st two steps, you can enjoy an entire week of running in and out of Naxx collecting you cloth by the truckload without any additional steps.

You do NOT have to continuously switch between 25/10. The reason for this is very often (as some have seen) simply running out and resetting the instance without changing difficulty sometimes does not reset mobs if you are saved to that raid. By starting on 25 just 1 time in a given week, then switching to 10man and resetting, it seems to avoid the mob reset bug that some of you have experienced. After the first switch, feel free to stay on 10man for the rest of the week.
