You can only grab this quest if you are in ghost form (dead) or someone that already has it shares it with you. You can find Franclorn Forgewright outside the instance. He is actually in the center of the big lava pit as you start running down the chains to head to BRD. He will be standing on top of a tomb.

To be more specific, he is in "Forgewright's Tomb" room and is on his very own tomb cant miss him. But u do have to be dead. If you plan on running the instace right after u get this quest the i suggest u dive off the ledge into the lava pit and run back dead from the GY, if not die close to the GY and then once u r done talking to him use auto-unstuck, ull b back in the GY with only feet to your body!

the Quest can't be shared. I have been in groups that tried it. You have to die. I suggest if in a group and someone mentions they need it to have them get naked (take off all their stuff with a durability listing) so their armor doesn't take a hit and either jump in lava or go far ahead of the group and get slaughtered. the lava is more fun and less chancy. Then they only need to run back to the instance after talking to the guy. Make sure they talk to him until they get the actual quest. Which I think is like 3 times. You have to hear his story first or something

Yyou can share it, but in order to complete it you have to talk to the man again. So it requires you to be in ghostform anyway.
After you talked to him again you will get the next quest.
And that one is also shareable, but only as long as you did the first qst.

You do have to a dead but you don't necessarily have to die to talk to Franclorn Forgewright

The tried and true method:
Take of your armor off, run down to the instance, get killed, run to Franclorn Forgewright, run back to the graveyard, resurrect and run back.

The other (less self-descructive) method:
You use Videre Elixir, it might be available on the AH or you may have it from a level 52 quest "The Videre Elixir" (if I remember right it has 3 charges but you only need one to complete quest). Use it at Franclorn Forgewright, you will die but will not suffer any damage. DO NOT resurrect just hit release so you’re a ghost, talk to Franclorn Forgewright then go back to Graveyard and resurrect.

I'll leave it up to you which one you want to do but from the graveyard to Blackrock Mountian is a long run.

You don't have to res at the GY (and get the 10-minute Resurrection Sickness debuff) if you kill yourself in the lava. What I did was this:

1. Strip naked (and dismiss pet if you're a hunter / lock)
2. Go to the narrow platform at the bottom of the second chain bridge leading to BRD, near where the blood elf Lothos Riftwalker is. (You can pick up the MC attunement quest from him while you're there)
3. Fall off the platform near Lothos, so you land in the lava right next to the platform.
4. Die, release and run back to Franclorn Forgewright on the way back to BRD. Get the quest from him.
5. Go back down to Lothos - you'll be able to recover your corpse standing on the platform, since you died right next to it.
6. Get dressed again, and continue into BRD to finish the quest.

Shadowforge Key Walkthrough:

I will assume that you have the Dark Iron Legacy quest already.

1. As you enter BRD, go northeast into the first area and clear it. This area doesn't have a name that I know of, but has 6 large exits off of it. The key direction you want to go in here is East-Northeast (ENE) into the tunnel.

2. Ring of Law - A little ways into the ENE tunnel, you will find the Ring of Law on the left side. Make sure all of your party members enter at the same time as the gate will shut behind you. Defeat the 2 events inside the ring and exit through the western gate.

3. East Garrison - You'll will come out of the Ring of Law into the East Garrison. Immediately to your right is a large set of stairs that go east to the upper section of the Ring of Law.

4. Ring of Law (spectator area) - Proceed through this area to the Shrine of Thaurissan.

5. Shrine of Thaurissan - Head to the left (north) across the bridge. Note that you'll come back here later once you have the drop off of Fineous Darkvire.

6. The Domicile - Head through here to the exit, which is down the stairs in the north corner of the room. This leads to the eastern side of Shadowforge City.

7. Shadowforge City (east) - The Black Vault is here on the right side, but is optional. Go all the way to the north end and down into the Hall of Crafting.

8. Hall of Crafting - This area is a squarish area that wraps around counterclockwise and leads you down to Lord Incendius. This is where Fineous Darkvire is located. He tends to wander around in here and looks like a dark iron dwarf.

9. Backtrack to the Shrine of Thaurissan in order to get your Shadowforge Key. You'll see Pyromancer Loregrain (marked as a rare spawn, but not really rare) here.

My group wiped, and me and my priest friend stumbled upon this quest flabberghasted. We were both first-timers to BRD, and were amazed when we discovered ghost-form quests...It was a cool expierience.

Has anyone tried leveling while dead? I'm rather curious what would happen since dinging gives full health and mana.

It's sad to see how many people don't read the quests they are accepting. Everytime I'm doing a BRD run for the first time on a character, at least one person seems to have this quest and shares it with the rest.

If you're one of those people, read this:

You have to talk to the ghost 2 times to get the key quest from him (Accept this quest, turn it right back in, then accept the main quest)

And even better:

Read the quest objectives before you accept a quest!

Easy what I've found to get this quest started. If you have Direbrew's Remote (or know someone that has it). Use it, get naked, jump off the bridge just outside the room the remote takes you. You're dead and you can go pick up the quest to start the key retrieval. Just run back into the instance to ressurect.

No need to fly and run and ride and whatever the heck else you have to do to get to BRD.
