i hope these pets get their own skeleton wire frame or whatever the term is because right now it looks like they share the same animations as wolves in the wowhead gallery.

I just tamed the Hillsbrad Fox today when Shattering went live.

To my delight I found that foxes have a move called "Play". When activated the fox will begin to dance with the flavor text reading "When you're the best of friends...", a reference to the Disney movie The Fox and the Hound.

I tamed a fox on my low level hunter and while running through instances people wanted to know what it's special ability is. When I explained the 20% attack speed debuff, many people lost interest.

I bring this up because this pet provides an AOE attack slowing debuff. "Why is that important?" you ask. Well for one, tanks such as Druids and Paladins can only place their debuffs on one target at a time. Further, Death Knight tanks do not want to use their slow debuff since each icy touch means one less death strike.

The fox may not have raid leaders clamoring to get one in the raid, but there's no reason we can't enjoy them in our five mans. Happy hunting.

I think it's a bit disappointing that foxes grow so large when you tame them. My hunter is only level 51 and when I tamed a fox in Loch Modan, the pet's size almost doubled. There are a lot of pets that I wish were bigger, but the fox isn't one of them. =/

They chase after Rats, which means in in Raids it can be bad.... my fox pulled 2 sets of mobs chasing after a rat.....

They should really be cunning ;( or tallstriders should be... Cuz we kinda have two types of ferocity pets with attack speed debuff, and not a single cunning one...

Name your fox "Vuluptas" and any Latin scholars you may happen to know will probably be amused.

(It's a pun between "vulp-", which means fox, and "voluptas", which is Latin for "pleasure".)

I have 1 hunter in each faction on different servers. Each of them are beastmasters and have pets of all three classes. The Alliance hunter captured a low level Fox in Redridge' who of course went to 82 when captured, and the Horde captured a Baradin Fox. Both these Hunters have a spirit beast cat and dog, Rhinos, chimaeras, core hounds , ravasaurs, and all the common types, and I have found the Fox to be the best pet of the bunch. He deals very good damage, and so far it seems to me that he can take the damage of a Rhino. This is a great pet for everyone, and a really great pet for someone who isn't a Beastmaster. I've been using them in both Dungeons and PvP and until I see different I will keep using them.

I tamed Ashtail, a Whitetail fox and a Forest Stalker, I named Ashtail Whirlwind, the Whitetail fox Tsunami and the Forest Stalker Avalanche.

When I tamed a red one of these on my 70 hunter when they first came out, I tried to call it RedXIII but got an error saying I couldn't use that name, So I had to settle for Nanaki.

was changed in Mists. It used to reduce physical attack speed (attacks per second). It now reduces spell cast speed (casts per second). In common english the tooltip should say "to have their spell cast TIME increased by 50%." The game uses speed to mean either swing time or swings per second in different contexts (see Speed and Haste in your Character Info) so the tooltip is confusing. Rest assured, the ability is good, it makes the enemy weaker.

New fox ability (MoP) makes it awesome against every class whose attacks depends on magic, and maybe excellent in PvP, forcing reduction of damage. As of today, the description of this ability in wowhead was inaccurate (11/2012).

Foxes and monkeys have an interesting defensive ability, but quite lackluster to other defensive pet abilities. Riflessi Pronti & Agilità Primordiale increase dodge by 30% for 10 seconds on a two minute cooldown. Effectively, it has a 1/12 uptime. I would say this can be good against a very damaging flurry of melee attacks (Hagara's Focused Assault for example), but only that.

It might still not be competitive with the other pet defensives: 50% damage reduction for 12 seconds on a minute cooldown (basilisk's Scaglie di Pietra for example; beetles, crabs and turtles have a similar ability) and a spell reflection for 6 seconds on a 30 second cooldown (direhorn's ). Both of these defensives have a 1/5 uptime and are generally stronger against respectively physical and magical attacks.

Really surprised we havn't gotten a new updated model after these years. ! mean, we finally do get a new fox but they are mounts.
