Strange. I noticed this npc beside me after i exited Terrace of Endless Spring (lfr), with the Panflute of Pandaria buff on it. I dont remember using my panflute in recent time though, and the buff said 13 minutes left at the time i noticed it there. I do have my Last Stand macro'ed with my panflute, so maybe i picked it up inside ToES... But the panflute doesnt usually cause critters to teleport after you.

While I'm not sure exactly which abilities allow you to see these little sneaks, I was elated to discover that Extra-Dimensional Ghost Revealer now has another use. This NPC can be found in some of the strangest places!

There are two that I could find in the Tavern in the Mists, both on the first floor. One is, as you're facing her, just to the left of Right (lolsigh) between the arrows and the wine bottle. The other is back behind the screen with the chest, at the feet of the Blacktalon Sentry guarding / staring at it (who claims not to know what's in it either).

If you're a rogue, this is a good place to get an example of the "ping." Whenever you see it, it means there is something to be revealed by using the Detection ability. You need to already have the Glyph of Detection active to see the ping. Applying the glyph will cause any nearby pings to start twinkling after just a few seconds, and using Detection will then reveal whatever's there. Remove or replace the glyph, and the twinkling will stop.

Also: the Detection ability that the glyph gives you appears in the General tab of your spellbook, not any of the rogue tabs. Don't ask me why. Also also, rogues should probably read about the Survivor's Bag of Coins.

There are twelve of the little guys running around Elariel's secret area at the base of Teldrassil (waypoint: 73.6, 54.4) and elsewhere.

One way to see them is by using the Individuazione ability if you have a rogue, learned by Colpi Sleali, Vol 1: Individuazione.

I found another Sneaky Marmot at 46.46, 24.44 in Stranglethorn Vale at the Gurubashi Arena. As of the time of this post, I don't see it listed on the wowhead maps for this NPC (or listed as a location on wowpedia), so I'm not sure if this is a new addition or potentially just one that has never been found. (I do have the wowhead looter installed though, so maybe it will cache this marmot and add a new map location for it.)

I'm always hoping there is something more to the Detection spell, so it was fun for me to find one that wasn't already listed here... gives me a bit of hope that there's still a secret out there waiting to be found!

So far I have yet to find a place to tame these things that using "Detection" allows you to see them because of being hidden before; or whatever.

Only time I have been able to get one is from the looted coins and buying from the Rogue-only vendor.
