There are two Silithid caves (around 78,62 and 74,64) in Feralas. I was in the eastern cave at 77,62 when I found him. If you're in that area, try heading underground and you might run into him.

I tend to run into him in the same room as the Zukk'ash Pod, so be mindful of that if you head down to that chamber of the hive.
He does hit a little hard from my experience, but you should have at least one potion kicking around somewhere that can see you through it. As Qintin said, he has a poison DOT that hurts a bit.

According to the official World of Warcraft Atlas, this mob is rated as Uncommon rarity with a respawn timer of ~5-8 hours.

Found him in tunnels at 78,62 while doing Stinglasher quest. He dropped Chieftains Cloak of the Bear.

Just got it in the southern most silithid pit. He was halfway down the spiral. No one was around - looks like everyone is still after Ashtail.

Very beautiful wasp. I tamed him right by the entrance to the northeastern silithid pit. He was there waiting for me when I logged on. No one else in sight. I would have thought there would be more competiton for this pretty creature. The only rare people seem to really be after is Ashtail.
The wasps make this wonderful, soothing sound as they flutter their wings. The closest I comparison I can make is probably rain. I'm certainly smitten, and I'm not even a bug person.

Of course, you can get this skin in Ahn'Qiraj too... but that's cheating. ;)

I just tamed this beautiful wasp, right outside the hive too! Was going there to get Stinglasher, (I also tamed him.) This is a rare, not elite, lvl 39 (Wowhead says that of course.), Diet is Cheese, Bread, Fungus, and last but not least, the juicy Fruit.

Edit: Also, I tamed him at the North Eastern hive.. same as the above poster.

Tamed him around 9:00-9:15 PM CST. I was actually looking for Stinglasher and I looked into the entrance (just outside of the one on the east side) and there he was.

Tamed him at 8:10 AM with level 42 BM hunter at 76.2. 61.1. He has Sting (stun for 2 secs) and Smack (61 damage) abilities.

I read the earlier comments and looked at the screenshots and noticed that he could be found inside the hive, so I cleared out the Eastern hive looking for it and didnt find him D: I was on my way out and at the entrance waiting for me was Qirot :D

As I was running up to the hive I didnt see the Stinglasher model or the Qirot model I wanted. I made a quick "/Target Qirot" macro. Most of these kinds of rare spawns are located in the very back of the cave and I was anticipating having to fight my way to it.

No. She and the stinglasher model were both floating side by side right at the entrance of the tunnel on the outside. I didnt aggro anything in taming first the lasher and then his queen and all the mobs were green to me at the time.

For a 43 hunter she and her mate shrunk down to a rather unintimidating size of a large bumblebee. Seekers beware, these are rather small on lower level hunters and the beautiful details run together on low graphic computers.

...just did a quick check of the area and was about to leave when he popped suddenly inside the descent that leads to the cave at coords: 73.73, 63.84. He keeps his original name when tamed. I say this because I also tamed the orange kitty Shango in Sholazar Basin this morning (twice) - and he did NOT keep his original name. It resorted to "cat" and I had to rename him back to Shango after taming.
