He's not elite but he sure hits hard! Took me about six tries to take him out, but I was -5 lvls so I guess that is to be expected.

As a feral Druid I opened with roots and a couple of starfires. When roots broke I used Regrowth them shifted to bear. Had to root him a couple of times to run off and heal. Tough fight for a low lvl.

I spent all day east of Satyrnaar without luck, then walked through (finally) Warsong Lumber Camp, south down near the break in the hills (close to the river) and there he stood.

As a Lvl 33 BE hunter, I first pulled the spiders, dispatched them and then got Ursol'lok's attention. He took about 40% of my life (maybe a little less) as I made him my pet.

I had been running a Crazed Dragonhawk (lvl 33, also) and sometimes a Ghostpaw Alpha, but I will likely stick with Ursol'lok for awhile. I keep hearing how caster pets suck at high levels and while I like my dragonhawk, I don't wanna have a problem later on.

The bear eats about everything the dragonhawk does (and moss, too). Seems to be one heck of a tank.

I lucked out when I was just wandering in Ashenvale and saw him wandering around. I didn't realize at the time that he was a rare, but saw that he had a name and decided to tame him. I was level 37 when I had so there was no reason to kill him for any of his loot, and I didn't have a bear yet. He's actually really awesome for a pet so I recommend him for anyone who wants a black bear for a pet.

I spent 2 hours looking for this little guy! After going to all pin-pointed locations, I found him south/east of Forest Song wandering along the path :) Easily tamed and no major damage taken. Level 27 worg when taming him.

Just wanted to say that I tamed this bear not even 5 minutes ago. I was expecting to have to wait hours like the atlas said but I lucked out by only camping for an hour or so. I also had no issues taming this bear.

just tamed him, with a lvl 25 hunter, really easy, health got down to about 25%. right between where the two current pins are on the map above. he tends to hang around groups of stags

I was 25 worgen hunter when i tamed him.Seems that he is always on one place,in front of the World leet dragons(Guardiafronde di Smeraldo).He was 24 and he came up with the abilities: Cower(),Rest(Riposo),Special ability Demoralizing Roar(),Growl - Taunt ability and Claw.

I just found and tamed him on a level 30 hunter. Did very little damage even after pouncing on me. Took me down to about 90% health in all BoA gear.

So far seems like he is a good tank.

Just tammed him on my lev 31 goblin. Took me like 5 mins to find him, same spot the pins are. good luck :)

I've waited so long to tame him. he would never spawn for me not even while i was a 30. and i was passing through just so see if he was there, and i was thrilled to see he was there. Found just before the bridge. on the right side, south of the bough shadow.

In Legion Ursol'lok still have his old low-poly black bear model.
List of all tameable bears with old model (for collectors or just in case if you like old one more than new):
