Guess the vanilla players will appreciate this, at least
It's surprising that no one has pointed out the obvious: This is a beta, it's highly questionable for the gear to hold onto spec-specific traits when you've switched to another spec, so unless we're told that's intended, it's not likely to stay that way.If spec-specific traits stay and you can use them on another spec, then they're not really spec-specific. Why would Blizzard want you to be able to use another spec's traits? That's limiting to design since now you have to consider that, say, a tanking trait could be used in a DPS spec. That may be a moot point if all the traits are tied to spec-specific abilities so they're effectively "nothing" when in another spec, but again, that's limiting. Without that limitation, spec-specific traits can offer more general passives and/or alter abilities that all specs have. (Priest, for one, has at least one spec-specific trait currently that does something useful in another spec.)
i don't have good feeling about it :|
I vaguely recall some other system where you augmented your talents and skills, and if you wished to change them you needed to 'respec' them, with it costing more and more every time. I'm sure there was a wholly good reason we left such a system in the past. And an even better reason for why we're getting it back again /s
I don't see how allowing players the ability to change how they play whenever (to an extent) they want is such a bad thing. Even in Vanilla they made it so there was a cap to the amount that respecing would cost you. Also what does this really stop? Players are just going to carry around multiple pieces of the same gear and switch to the one with the talents they want to use for the dungeons, raids, or world quests that they're doing. They aren't going to make it so you can't get multiple of each piece of gear so all this really does is make the game more tedious than it needs to be, its like they haven't been paying attention to all the random stuff players have been doing to work around these random barriers they set in place.
Aside for having to go to your faction new main hub fo the respec (which they could have allowed on the fly while retaining the cost), I believe this all has one purpose only: gold sink.
So the only viable Azerite traits for multi-specs will be the neutral ones?
Just look at all the people complaining about the respec costs for Azerite gear. As if the in-game gold isn't so inflated that 5-10-20-40-80 or even 160 or 320 gold are trivial amounts. Imagine how people would react to Vanilla respec costs if the game came out today. I think its fine. It stings, but that's the kind of things that make you wanna decide your place in the world.
and the "pro" players are mad because they cant adjust on the fly
Or don't respec every five minutes like a spaz, and you'll be fine.
I see they finally found a way to encourage competitive players to go back to the Alliance.Location, location, location :D
I TOTALLY agree, it will feel like a punishment for hybrid classes. I go back and forth on healing, tanking and dps depending on what my raid or mythic team needs. I guess I will have to have 3 different toons leveled for this. UGH!
