This'll mean that the ton of BOE vendor or item drop Humanoid pets can be useful when you convert them to Rare.

Piccola Aiutante di Babbo Inverno, Stupìdo, Aiutante di Babbo Inverno, Cucciolo Curioso di Volvar, and Cucciolo Curioso di Oracolo are good examples of great pets that are only limited by the fact that they are learned as Uncommon only.

Family specific Flawless Battle-stones can be found in the Sack of Pet Supplies obtained from performing Pet Trainer quests, and are Bind on Pickup.

If you are a serious rare pet collector, don't use the stones on your caught pets until you've upgraded all these first. They can not be upgraded in any other way.

Had my first drop today out of the basic Sack of Pet Supplies. Upgraded my wolvar pup, so nice to know he's now rare!

If you are going to use a flawless stone of any variety consider leveling the pet to 25 first. It will take the pet down to level 23 and you will get credit for hitting 25 both times on the level x number of pets to level 25 achievements.

To use this item you have to summon the pet you want to upgrade, target them and use it on them. Don't try to use it on pets while their in the pet journal like I did.

I'd like to add another way of acquiring this item. This is also my way of getting my first Flawless Humanoid Battle-Stone.

I got it when I was in Kun-Lai Summit, busy on capturing Kun-Lai Runt. After I captured a Common quality Kun-Lai Runt, this item came into my bag AUTOMATICALLY. If this is not a bug, that means you may obtain this item when you capture humanoid pets.

I got this after fighting a Kun-Lai Runt and two Tolai Hare Pups. I believe you have a chance to receive them after fighting level appropriate pets.

Just a note for everyone you can purchase these by trading someone your pet, having them use the stone on them and trading it back.

If you end up with more of these than you can use, they do work on the Scudiero d'Argento and Peone d'Argento. They still won't be able to participate in pet battles, but when you summon them, their names will be blue like other Rare-quality pets.

The stones do not appear to work on the guild heralds and pages, though. I tried using one, and even though it gave the upgrade animation, the pet remained Uncommon quality and the battle-stone stayed in my inventory. As of 5.2, they also work on guild pages and heralds, with the same results as the argent squire and gruntling.(##RESPBREAK##)2056##DELIM##adashiel##DELIM##

There does not seem to be a connection between the pets involved in the battle (yours or theirs) and the type of stone you receive. I received a humanoid stone in my Sacca di Provviste delle Mascotte for the daily quest to defeat Cavaliere del Sangue Antari, who has dragonkin, magic and elemental pets. I fought him with two dragonkin and a beast.

Just got one of these as my first ever battle stone. Which was a nice bonus as I had been a muppet in the fight. I was working through Stunted Yetis (so primary opponent was the same type as the stone received), and was fighting my first rare spawn. However in the course of the fight I got carried away, and accidentally killed the yeti instead of capturing him. N00blet error.

The yeti + friend were level 12, my team were all level 11. I am hoping that the battle stones don't just drop when you defeat a rare opponent. But as I'm *well* past 5000 wins (passed that early on camping the giraffe calf) and this is my first stone drop, I'm not expecting any correlation any time soon :)

And in case like me you were wondering - the stone dropped from a straight defeat, did not have to capture the pet, and it was obvious when it dropped - big message in the middle of the screen saying I had acquired loot.

with the advent of the qiraji guardling, it should honestly be your top priority if you aren't lucky enough to get a blue quality one.

I'd like to clarify something that has already been said regarding this item being acquired by capturing a humanoid.

The humanoid you're fighting HAS to be wild.

You do NOT have to capture it to get the stone; you just have to win the fight against the wild humanoid.

The best place I've found to farm for one is Right next to Ras'an (the Master Pet Tamer in Zangarmarsh) as the little Sporeling Sprouts spawn like crazy and there are tons of them.

I just opened one of these after 5.4 and tried to upgrade Peddlefeet... it plays the animation but the stone is not consumed and the pet is not upgraded to rare.

Using the Pietra Evolutiva Rara Umanoide

1. Go to your pet journal then select and summon the pet you want to upgrade.
2. Target the pet you summoned in step 1.
3. Right click on the Pietra Evolutiva Rara Umanoide in your inventory.
4. Don't panic - your pet still seems to be same quality and you suspect you wasted your stone - but....
5. Dismiss and summon again to see your shiny, rare quality (blue), lean, mean, fighting machine.

You CAN farm a specific type of Battle-Stone by battling pets of that same type. While you may occasionally receive some other type of stone, you definitely have a higher chance of receiving an aquatic stone by fighting aquatic pets, for example. I kept reading people say that the type of battle pet you fight has nothing to do with the type of Battle-Stone you receive, and that it's completely random. My experience had shown that not to be true, so I decided to do some testing and post my results in case anyone wanted to farm for a specific type of Battle-stone.

Battling Aquatic pets (which have 3 aquatic pets about 50% of the time, and 2 aquatic/1 flying about 50% of the time.) My results: 178 battles = 6 Aquatic stone, 1 Flying stone, 1 Humanoid stone

Battling Flying pets (which have 3 flying pets about 50% of the time, and 2 flying/1 aquatic about 50% of the time.) My results: 142 battles = 3 Flying stone, 1 Aquatic stone, 1 Critter stone, 1 Flawless Battle-Stone (which can be used on anything)

Battling Critter pets which usually have all Critters, and occasionally have a Beast in the group. My results: 96 battles = 3 Critter stone, 1 Beast stone

As you can see, it would appear that you can indeed farm a certain kind of stone. Just find an area where you want to level your lowbie pets that has the type of critters consistent with the stone you need the most of (usually Beast, Flying or Critter, since these types have the most pets that cannot be obtained above Uncommon quality.) Also, remember that if you've got one or two stones of a type you don't need, you can farm the additional one(s) to make 3, and then trade them in for a Marked Flawless Battle-Stone that can be used for any pet. If you're finding a lot of these, but want to upgrade a different-type pet, you can trade three of any family-specific battle stones to Audrey Burnhep (Stormwind 69.4, 25.1) or Varzok (Orgrimmar 52.5 59.3) for one Marked Flawless Battle-Stone.

I loved AMIB's post on Flawless Aquatic Battle-Stone, but as he/she hasn't been around for more then a year, I would like to continue the trend.

This is a list of uncommen-only pets, with alternative pets with the same set of abilities if present. The annotated pets were added in *WoD and °Legion.

Ashleaf Spriteling - There are no rare alternatives to this pet.
Curious Oracle Hatchling - There are no rare alternatives to this pet.
Curious Wolvar Pup - There are no rare alternatives to this pet.
Father Winter's Helper- Same abilities as Winter's Little Helper, which is also uncommon-only. There are no rare alternatives to this pet.
*Grumpling - There are no rare alternatives to this pet.
Peddlefeet - There are no rare alternatives to this pet.
Rotten Little Helper - There are no rare alternatives to this pet.
Winter's Little Helper - Same abilities as Father Winter's Helper, which is also uncommon-only. There are no rare alternatives to this pet.
