Drops off pirates in Stranglethorn and Tanaris. Other then making for a tasty drink, sells for a pretty good amount to engineers looking to make Goblin Rocket Fuel.

Fantastic item. not many people on my server bother to farm this item but I always keep a stack in my bank or inv. so if any Alchemist needs it for goblin rocket fuel. also because the icon for it is in a flask its a good rp item. I call them pirate rum as they drop off pirates and they go along nicely with my pirate outfit :)

Haha, i don't know whether someone discovered it, but you get really drunk from drinking it xD the screen goes blurry and when you walk you swift from left to right :P

Very easy to get hold of, especially as a leveling mage. I had like 12 stacks in my bags at one point because they do drop quite nicely.

This is also sold in limited quantity from a vendor in Ice Crown Citadel (he spawns after you beat Deathbringer Saurfang)

I bought 12 off him right off the bat, not sure how long it takes him to restock because the raid reset not long after we cleared.

Only for alliance:
Shely Ventreduro will have 19 Rum Imprevedibile in stack in abauth 10 min when you kill the boss (5min RP+5 min is making a camp).
He restacks full in 1h.

5 after 15 min
10 after 30 min
15 after 45
19 after 1h

Know from my experience on LK wiping and lots of rum taken for a headache.

It drops just fine in 4.0.6 at least, stacks of it in my bags after grinding pirates.

When I was less experienced, I had three volatile rums in my inventory during an instance and needed more room. So I did what I always did when I had extra food or drinks and I drank them. I wiped our group because I followed a humanoid add instead of the tank and when I tried to explain why, I couldn't stop hiccuping to boot.

So i needed some of this for my engi and for my lvling alchemist to make rocket fuel, also there was zero on the auction for days so i thought maybe i could sell it... off to farm i went!

Dire Maul:
4 runs to become king and buy stuff from the drunk, he sold 3 first run, 3 second run, 6 third run, 4 fourth run and then i said "screw this, its too slow and boring"

Barge, Thousand Needles:
Hi, Daisy, what you got for me?... 4 rums... 2-3 hour respawn time.... /face palm

Stranglethorn Vale, Bloodsail Pirates (of every type):
As wowhead predict, mass senseless slaughter of any and all pirates yields about a 6-10% drop rate and is very "effective" at filling your bags with junk... however if you search out the "ZZzzzzzzz" snoozing "hooch-hounds" they r pretty much a 100% drop of at least 1. So on a flying mount, making the circle to snype sleeping pirates you can get about 5 bottles every respawn which is maybe 7-10 minuts at most.

So the STV option while slow is probably the best in 5.1 and later.

Also felt i got very lucky clearing the pirate boats but i do think it was luck, wowhead loot tables dont list them as a good spot.

Went to the 3 boats south of booty bay and killed 30 minutes worth of bloodsail mobs. Got 59 volatile rums.

If you need a lot of these and fast, your best bet would easily be the three ships in Stranglethorn. Bring a lvl 90, AoE the %$#@ out of the ship and loot! Drop rate isn't super high, but their fast respawn rate and their low levels make it a very good spot to farm!

Why is the rum gone? Because lvl 90s can't buy it anywhere.

Fortunately, there's a bartending/ innkeeping lass by the name of "Daisy" at the Speedbarge Bar (located in Thousand needles) who carries these at a reasonable price.
Although, you do have to wait every thirty minutes for the fresh supplies. If you don't mind the giggling and cackling din of the knee cap high partying folk, you can collect 4 to 6
flasks at a time.
