The best place to pick these up when you are farming by yourself is in the Hinterlands in a cave called skulk rock. this cave is home to a host of level 40ish oozes. there are 3 nodes in the cave that respawn every 15 minutes so the best way to farm is to park your character in the cave and check back every so often. These are the key ingrediaent in elixir of shadow power and elixir of demonslaying.

Another good spot for this is in the Scarlet Monestary Graveyard side, enter the instance and there will be 2-3 nodes. After you collect them you can leave the instance and reset it and go back in there, do this a couple times or until you can't anymore. If you have multiple accounts with Herbs on them it makes some good money.

Farm a bunch of these and you can make stacks of Greater Shadow Protection Potions which usually go for a good amount.

Maraudon is a great place to farm these. A lot nodes can be found inside the instance itself and just outside the instance in the caverns. In a lot cases you can avoid any fighting to reach them if you are Lv 60. Being a rogue makes gathering Ghost Mushroom inside Maraudon very easy.

With a 62 mage, I've found the best strategy is a loop in the Hinterlands from Skulk Rock to Jintha'alor and back. As mentioned above there are three spawn groups inside Skulk Rock so there are almost always three spawns up there. Ride down to Jintha'alor and enter the cave behind the altar to find three more spawn groups. Double back north to Sharpbeak's cave and there's one last spawn. At this level the mobs don't bother me unless I walk through them and I can farm 7 mushrooms every 15 minutes.

Another good place for players who've killed Pusillin (For the crescent key) is the back entrance to Dire Maul east side, in the something pavillion.It's near the top of the map, a little to the left of where the alliance outpost is (the alliance outpost is by the border to TN).

In the back door, there are a few satyrs, but plenty of ghost mushroom, and you can reset after you're done (though you can only do that a limited number of times before you can't enter instances).
I did it at level 68, though I've never been there at lv60...

Even at lv 70, these are still useful.

Elixir of Demonslaying (265 AP against Demons) is still an incredible consumable for melee dps classes and requires ghost mushroom and gromsblood to make.

Update- As of patch 2.4, Elixir of Demonslaying now correctly affects ranged attack power... and hunters rejoice.

You can also farm these now in Funggor cavern in Zangamarsh. there were 3 on my first pass through the cave. great place for it IMO because you dont have to wander out into old azeroth any more.

I think its best to be either a hunter or rouge, so u can either be invisible, or if a hunter use Feign death after running to the Mushrooms! Thats what i do... Good Luck

Theres more than i thought in the Skulk cave....1st time i went there was 3, now theres 3 again and 2 are in new location. so if your lucky you get get atleast 5. There may be more than that....

I just found somethin cool about the cave...In the back of one of the tunnels, the one across from the tunnel with the water, you can jump up on the rocks in the back top of it & the slimes cant hurt you at all! its pretty sweet!

In Hinterlands theres a cave that has way more Ghost Mushroom than Skulk cave. Just go thru Jintha 'Alor and theres a Huge cave to the East i believe. I found like 8 my first try.

I've found a great place to farm these is coincidentally a place called Fungal Rock in Un'goro Crater. There's approximately a dozen nodes in the cave on a short respawn timer. I was able to get two stacks in about 10 minutes making loops through the cave. Also a good place for Thick Leather and Rugged Leather if you kill and skin the Gorillas in the cave.

Mosfet is correct with the location, after reading their post i went straight to cave and in 30mins collected 100 Mushrooms, easy pickings and the spawn rate is very quick, Thx for the tip M8.

Excellent spot. I got 190 mushrooms in about 35 minutes, about the number to level tailoring up to 300 using ghost dye.

it's confirmed that Fungal Rock in Un'goro Crater is a good farming place for Ghost Mushroom.. I gathered around 19 in one single round in the cave, when I finished the round the place where i started the mushroom's was respawned, and I could start again..

The ape cave in Un'Goro seems to have almost an instant respawn timer as you are picking them. You'll pick one and another spawns in the cave.

I found the best place to farm these is in the Un' Goro Crater. Goto the Fungal Rock Cave and just run around the cave and you can easily get 3 stacks in an hour. You occassonally need to kill the gorillas.

It is confirmed. There is Ghost Mushrooms in Un'Goro Crater inside the ape cave. It is scattered throughout. There is a respawning timer on many of the mushroom. There will be a couple mushrooms that respawn within 30 seconds. I have timed the majority will respawn between 8 to 10 minutes.

Apparently, this is impossible to find anymore - on my server 1 ghost mushroom can sell for hundreds of gold.
I've checked the usual spawn points repeatedly on all of my herbalists - no dice... it's either a drop or nothing at all.

Contrary to what Peepjynx said above, the mushrooms are still there at Fungal Rock cave (64.3,16.2) in MoP. I went in and collected 24 in under 5 minutes. Then, after I cleared out the cave, I waited about 5 more minutes before they started respawning. I ended up with 2 stacks in under 15 minutes, plus a stack of rugged leather and 5 pieces of thick leather from the gorillas I killed. If you go and don't find any, it's probably a CRZ thing. I've found farming more difficult at times in a number of zones due to increased competition from multiple servers.
If you get to the cave and don't see any, just wait around for a few minutes and you'll start seeing them pop back up.

Skull Rock in the Hinterlands is a great place to find these. They are all around encircling the cave as well as on the inside too. :) Happy Shrooming!

I've found five reasonable places to gather these (as of 5.2).

Maraudon - they're pretty common in the purple side of the dungeon.

Dire Maul - the Warpwood Quarter has a few places (Maraudon is probably better though).

Un'Goro, Fungal Rock - as the comments below confirm, very fast respawn times and if you're a skinner, lots of leather from the gorillas in the cave.

Zangarmarsh - two places:
1. On the border between Zangarmarsh and Terokkar Forest, just a little north of Shattrath, there's a cave with those shambling elementals fighting the Sporegarr guys.
2. Almost the opposite corner of the zone, up near the bridge that crosses into Blade's Edge Mountains called Ango'rosh Stronghold.

This is by far the best spot to farm the Ghost Mushroom. I was going to go to Maraudon, so glad I saw this beforehand. Didn't know about this back in vanilla, sigh.

The Warpwood Quarter is still a good spot in 5.4 if you don't mind running around so much. I got 2 stacks in 5 runs, without having to compete with my entire realmpool - I usually farm in the evening (like everyone else, it seems) so there's not much to be found in Un'goro. Also, if you want to make Pozione dell'Invisibilità, you will find about the same amount of Sungrass in the Warpwood quarter.

I found 4-6 nodes of Ghost Mushroom per run, in varying spots, but only in the areas that have sartyrs in them, the garden area with all the treants only had Khadgar's Whisker and Sungrass.

Besides, Silk Weave sells quite well on my realm and I got about 1 stack per run, plus a stack of Felweave in 5 runs. Doesn't sell as well, but there are some nice Classic tailor-made items useful for transmogging that use it, if that's your thing. You'll also need Demonic Rune, which drops here as well!

Like Mosfet said, Fungal Rock in Un'goro Crater is the best place to farm these hands down. As an added bonus, there's Erbasole just on the other side of the cave at Thousand Needles, for those who want to farm the materials to make plenty of Pozione dell'Invisibilità.

All I can say is WOW!

I was looking into something earlier as I always look at other ways to make gold, rather than ur standard Ghost Iron Ore or other current Herbs, Leathers etc.
Anyways was looking at something and then thought about Invisiblity Potions for Challenge Modes, had a look at our AH prices and they were selling for 68g a potion.
I then looked up about the recipe and saw its a World Drop, tried farming it for about an hour off Yetis in Feralas but then realised I could be there forever, so instead I thought 'well why don't I farm the matts for the potions, they should sell'.
I didn't even check AH prices, I just looked on here where to farm Ghost Mushroom and off I trotted to Fungal Rock (cave in Un'Goro). Anyways after about 90 mins of farming I got 160 (8 stacks) and went back to AH, I had an idea they sell for a bit from previous xp.

So I hearthstoned to Org, put them on at 600g for a stack of 20 (as there were none in there), u may think this is a rip-off but think about it, you use 20 Ghost Mushroom to make 20 Invisibility Potions then sell them at 68g each thats more than double ur money back, Sungrass is like 3g a stack of 20 on our realm (the other herb you need)

No word of a lie........ I sold all 8 stacks on AH within 10 seconds, 4800g for 90 mins work and I was tabbing out a lot of the time.

Think it might be because they are hard to farm on my realm, am on a well populated PVP realm so u can imagine the ganking that goes on inside the cave, I farmed them as I got a friend to invite me to her dead PVE realm so can farm them easy.

Guess where I am now? I'm gonna spend the next few days here lol

I was able to farm yesterday 120 mushrooms in the cave in Un'goro Crater in like 30 minutes swapping between 2 servers whenever I fully collect the mushrooms, by the time I finish collecting them on my server I switch to the other server rinse & repeat!

The funny thing I'm on a very populated server & there were none in the AH! I sold them in a stack of 5 for 50g each & they were selling immediately!

TIP: on my server it's more beneficial to sell them as they are & not make the invisibility potion which oddly is selling for a lower price

Un'goro Crater at fungal rock. there are lots lv 53 apes in there but easy to solo if ur lv 50 + once cave is cleared and your above lv 80 you can always go farm whipetail for extra gold in uldum

Fungal Rock, Un'Goro Crater.

No point in going to either Hinterlands or the Shroom cave outside Shatt.

1st run through cave - 21 mushrooms.
AFK outside cave about 3-5 minutes.
2nd run through cave - 23 mushrooms.
AFK outside cave about 3-5 minutes.
3rd run through cave - 22 mushrooms.

It appeared that this could just go on all day. On a 100 Druid, I barely ever drew aggro and just zipped through gathering herbs.

As of patch 7.2, Fungal Rock is still a great place to farm these. I was able to get around 15 before they respawn time really slowed down, however ~10 minutes later the respawn rate really picked up again. Great way to make money if you're trying leveling a new character on a server and need gold for flying in Azeroth/Outlands. I was a lvl 60 mage with no BoA and killed the mobs very easily. A stack of 20 on my server was going for 300G, farmed 3 stacks of 20 and undercut by 100g and still made 600G in less than an hour. FYI Fungal Rock is in a weird place, would recommend looking at a map on google if you haven't fully discovered Un'Goro like me.

Fungal Rock is still good. I took a 117 alt there with low vanilla Herbalism skill and gathered 74 Ghost Mushroom Caps before the respawns slowed down. Logged out the alt right there. Logged in a little later and farmed more with more good respans for 10 minutes or so. I wonder if that's a new mechanic or just coincidence.

I assume you can get the full Ghost Mushroom item at higher Herb skill level, but I haven't gotten my herbing skill that high yet.

Nothing has been written about the ghost mushroom lately, so I decided to bring things up to date. I will agree that Fungal Rock Cave in Un' Goro Crater is the best place to get these but what you get is the ghost mushroom cap. It takes 10 of these to make one ghost mushroom. In some other herbs you find that low level herbing will get you stems or other pieces, and when you get to a certain level of herbalism you are able to farm the whole herb. Not so, apparently with the ghost mushroom. In the Fungal Rock cave, I raised by herbalism level from 100 to 200 and still got nothing but caps. On the good side, these respawn constantly. Once you do a complete clear you may see a brief period when no nodes appear, but they start coming back in a minute or so. Fungal Rock Cave is also an ideal place for farming heavy and thick leather as the gorillas respawn constantly as well.
