10 Frammento Celeste combined into a Cristallo del Cielo will allow you to engage Alani. She is the "Pandarian" version of Aeonaxx / Proto-Draco Senza Tempoin as far as a mount is tied to their demise:

*One more note, by using the Sky Crystal you will deduct 20%"ish" life from Alani and remove her Manto dei Nembi The good thing is that by using this she becomes "your tag" (meaning some wank couldn't just sit right next to you and swoop in and ninja the mount after you used the Skycrystal to nab the tag)

Unknown what will happen to those folks on PVP servers who get ganked as they are trying to kill Alani

Alani the Stormborn is a level 92 rare spawn located flying around the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. He has a buff called Manto dei Nembi which makes him immune from being attacked. This buff is removed from an item called Cristallo del Cielo which is created by combining 10x Frammento Celeste.

Today I pretty much confirmed that Alani the Stormborn is infact the MoP version of the TLPD/Aeonaxx. After collecting 10x Skyshards I turned them into 1x Sky Crystal which allowed me to attack and kill Alani. When looted he dropped the Redini della Serpe delle Nubi Tonante di Rubino. Skyshards have a chance to drop from most, if not all, mobs in Vale of Eternal Blossoms and also from the loot bag obtained from the final quest of the Golden Lotus dailies. The drop rate from the mobs is exceptionally low whilst I believe the loot bag is slightly higher. I think my longest gap between drops was around 24 hours of grind time (over several days ofc) and shortest was about 4 hours - RNG can be a pain. I found the best mobs to grind were the 'Trickster' mobs. These can be found is a few locations in the vale but most notably around the north to northwestern area of the Vale (33,26) and in the southern Mistfall Village. They have low health in comparison to other level 90 mobs and a relatively short respawn (1-3 mins). There's quite a few of them also in places which means you can AoE them down together. Be aware though, that these trickster mobs will not spawn every day as their spawn is related to the dailies that are available on that particular day.

I think this is a great idea for a rare mount. Don't get me wrong, I kind of liked the TLPD/Aeonaxx camps, but I'm in no real rush for another. This will at least break up the camping for some grinding.

But any word on the mobs respawn timer? I'm already dreading the line that will be formed by the time I get my Sky Crystal.

Guyz, i really interested in next info - will be possible that one man farm that crystal, then invite in party another one, pull alani and sell drop mount to another man or only those who used crystal can take it? Thats a pity if it can be selled because of bot farmers that will kill mobs 24|7 for shards.

You can't trade the Skyshards or the Sky Crystal, but you can sell "the kill" of Alani by grouping with other people and dispelling him his special shield.

Got my sky crystal today. Got lucky as the last 2 skyshards dropped within minutes of each other. Just find a space below Alani that has no mobs and click the crystal. Lightning will shoot from your character at the dragon, who will then shoot red lightning at you. Damage is light, and hit box to attack Alani is quite generous; think Nalak battle. I am 514ilvl, so Alani died very quickly--you would have to be very badly geared to have any trouble killing Alani. If you got ganked, or lost internet connection, etc., I have no idea if a GM will refund your crystal because it is gone from your bags the second you click it. My best advice is be certain of your internet connection, find a safe spot to attack under Alani, and maybe bring a friend, or two, to protect from possible gankers. Once Alani dies simply loot your new mount. I mostly farmed tricksters but did get 2 crystals from Mogu mobs around the area. I got plenty of greens, a couple blues (which I sold for plenty of gold in ah due to their 83-85 level requirement), at least 40 spirits of harmony, and plenty of vendor grays. Do not expect to get 10 cystals in one farming effort. I farmed a bit while waiting for LFR, or when I had 20-30 minutes to spare. Drop rate is ridiculous, be warned on that, but if you do multiple smaller farming sessions you will have 10 before you know it. The coloring is much better on this serpent mount and will stand out in a crowd. Good luck!

In case anyone cares you can have a Cristallo del Cielo saved and still loot more Frammento Celeste.
Which i thought that's how it would be but didn't find the info on wowhead so i figured i would share the info.

Ok, should you come across ten of these in dailies or just questing and killin what you were already going to kill. Fine. I would not waste the time to farm the shards for this. The look is your basic cloud serpent. Lightning and all. Nothing special cept its red. Which if you got a red one to start with. Well, you already got it. Please dont drive yourself insane trying to farm for this. The insane grind is not worth it. "Hey look! I farmed for weeks, days and hours on end. Killing everything in the vale that moved. Even the cow! I finally can get the mount." "Yay. You got a red one." There is not even an achie for it. Huge waste of time. The only saving grace. I was farming to kill time while waiting for lfr. Just one more of Blizz's BS time sinks. If you are one of those insane-o people that got to have it because it has a different name. Go ahead. Cause in the end. "Yay! you got a red one."

I finally completed this today. I was anxious about the fight, despite reading it was easy for a previous poster at 515ilvl (I am 551ilvl). My wife's shammy came along just in case. It was over in a few moments, and my pet learned how to fly somehow when I sent it in to attack (a crab, and it somehow showed up in the air attacking Alani). If you're in a group, the mount will actually show up as loot to be rolled on, so be in a group with someone you trust (I do in fact trust my wife) or they could roll against you. The fight is trivial in post ToT gear levels, so just be sure you don't DC or have someone bad in your party.

For anyone that's interested in the probabilities, I did a few calcs as a binomial distribution. I assumed a 0.2% drop rate on average, based on the current drop rates in Wowhead, so it *may* be slightly better than this, given some mobs have drop rates up to 0.4%.

Getting the 10 shards from 500 kills: 0.00001%
Getting the 10 shards from 1,000 kills: 0.0045%
... from 2,000 kills: 0.807%
... from 3,000 kills: 8.27%
... from 4,000 kills: 28.32%
... from 5,000 kills: 54.22%

Although this is most likely an uncommon occurrence, I do want to share my experience with removing the protective barrier around Alani just now.

After combining my 10 Skyshards to create a Sky Crystal, I found Alani, found a spot below her devoid of mobs, and used it. There was a lightning animation which removed the shield, but Alani continued on her normal route and neither aggroed to me nor put me into combat. Her health did indeed drop, but I had to chase her over a mountain on foot (after aggroing mobs in the surrounding area). I attempted to Moonfire her once in range again, only to watch her despawn above me.

Can someone who has done the fight please provide a comment detailing what SHOULD happen once the Sky Crystal is used (e.g., Does Alani immediately fly down to you and engage you in combat or are you meant to go on a hunting expedition?)?

Don't wear full gear when casting Sky Crystal if you're selling the mounts or trying to let a friend get one. It definitely one shots Alani in Legion

I got the crystal and used it (while Time Travelling to the Pandaria-era version of the Vale) and instead of fighting Alani, I just got the reins immediately. Alani's shield was removed, but afterwards he just flew off and disappeared. I didn't kill him, the crystal only did about 20% damage.

We'll see if the GM's do the right thing or not.
It took me years to collect these damn things.
I shot him with the crystal, and it consumed.
I had focus set and everything done right.
Alani fell from the sky, and kept going, right through the ground, and gone.
No lost mail, no body, nothing...

This was very easy to obtain once I collected all of the Shards x 10.. Once I clicked on the Shards and obtained the Crystal I went looking for Alani.. Could NOT find her in the BFA zone so I spoke to the
time agent and got sent back to MOP content.. ALANI was very easy to find once I went back in time.. just stood on a Hill top along her flight path and clicked on the Crystal.. It targeted Alani automatically and killed her immediately.. The REINS and a quest popped up in my window to travel to the Cloud Serpent faction in the Jade Forest.. Clicked on the REINS that dropped and ALAINI was put into my collection of mounts.. Took me about 1 or 2 minutes to complete the quest as soon as I had the Crystal in my bags.. had NO problems whatsoever..

I think it's important to note, everybody should gear down for this fight. The crystal does damage to Alani and you can oneshot her. That will prevent others in the party from tagging and getting the mount. So take off your weapons/armor, or use whole-body shrinka' to drop your DPS.

Currently using the item will channel onto Alani, Alani will despawn after a few seconds, and the mount will be placed into the users inventory. Only one mount is received.
