This was...kind of a let down. When you drink it, you are frozen in place for 30 seconds so you can't jump and play as a Hozen... and your screen also heavily blurs with the 'drunk' effect, but far worse than if you were just drunk. Basically OTHERS might be able to see what you've transformed into, but you can't. Really really disappointing.

After camping this item since the release of MoP I finally managed to loot it. I'm a recipe collector and I think this is really nice. Lore wise I like the Hozen a lot. But on to the point.

This drink indeed makes your screen blur. However I made a script that will cancel out the blur for the duration of the stun. After that it will reset to it's default value.

You can past the following code in any addon or create a small snippet for yourself.

You don't need to do anything to activate it. The script automatically checks when you use the drink and cancels the blur for the duration of the effect. When the effect ends everything goes back to normal.

If a buddy drinks this, then you can use an item that copies the appearance of others (such as Potions of Illusion, the glyphed Mage ability "Illusion", etc.) when close to them in order to transform into a pirate Hozen yourself. This way you can run around while transformed all you like!

I finally got this recipe after a few days of searching it out, but unfortunately its simply too expensive to reliably make. At a cost of a whopping TWO HUNDRED witchberries per ONE rum, it becomes incredibly costly to make repeatedly. On my server(and I assume many other servers), witchberries are going for 5-10g per, meaning that this recipe will end up costing well over 1000 gold per single use.

That said, here are where you can get all the mats:
1x Tel'Abim Banana. This item is sold by many, many vendors, for horde, the innkeeper in the valley of honor will sell this(among other vendors in org)
1x Volatile Rum. Dropped by a lot of "pirate" mobs, the easiest way of buying this is to camp Daisy in Thousand Needles, as she sells this at a limited supply. If she's out of stock, you could try the AH/farming pirates, or go do a Dire Maul run where you do NOT kill stomper kreeg. After you kill the king, and become the new king of dire maul, he will sell volatile rum, also with a limited supply.
1x Silkworm Pupa. This item is sold by Sungshin Ironpaw in halfhill, and by cooking supply vendors in the horde/alliance towns in Vale of Eternal Blossoms.
1x Black Pepper. This item is obtained by trading 1x Ironpaw Token to Nam Ironpaw in Halfhill. Considering black pepper is also used for some of the best cooking foods in Pandaria, you could also buy this on the AH, but expect it to be pricey.
200x Witchberries. By far the hardest part of this recipe to obtain, witchberries are a low drop rate from a few specific mob types in Pandaria, and the only real way to get them is to farm them up at your farm in halfhill. Its also possible to get them from Nam Ironpaw, at the cost of 1 ironpaw token per 25 berries, but with 200 berries needed, and 1 black pepper, thats 9 ironpaw tokens needed to make a SINGLE banana-infused rum, making this incredibly expensive.

After drinking this, someone can copy your Hozen appearance using Specchio Celeste di Ai-Li or a Pozione dell'Illusione. In turn you can then copy their copy and turn into a Hozen for a limited duration being 10 minutes with Specchio Celeste di Ai-Li and 2 minutes with Pozione dell'Illusione.

When I looted the recipe for this, 5 rum were in with the recipe book. Great if you want to do it but not farm an insane amount of mats for a 30 sec visual.

Towlong Steppes rare The Yowler occasionally drops the Big Bag of Food, which contains 5 Banana Infused Rum and 2 stacks of Pandaren Banquets (25 and 10 versions).

The drop chance is not low enough to justify hunting for Witchberries ^^

The recipe for this drink includes a silkworm pupa. It's a reference to famous, gimmicky kind of alcohol from Mexico called "mezcal con gusano", which includes a worm from the Hypopta agavis species at the bottom of the bottle.

I just got this today. I've been farming the rare-spawn BOA weapons, and thought I'd check on this. I was excited to find it spawned! Then I saw the mats it requires to make them.

Needless to say, I will not be making any of this. The only reason I wanted the recipe was to learn all of the recipies... this is far too expensive to make, for what you get.

I hope someone from blizzard checks the wowhead forums occasionally, as posting in their forums is a waste of time.

If you log off your character while you have the buff, when you log back in you are still a monkey but the "dunk" blur effect will be gone.
