Unlike previous Meta gems, it seems that the new MoP Metas don't require a certain number or combination of gems to become activated.

2% armor is equivalent to 960 mastery for lvl 90 Bear druids - in case you were wondering :)

Comparing this to Effulgent Primal Diamond (with 2% spell damage reduction instead of 2% armor) I don't really understand the logic for choosing Austere over Effulgent.
At level 90, with average ilvl of about 500, the 2% extra armor from Austere give me 0,42% extra physical damage reduction. 2% is almost five times as big a difference.
Sure, there will be fights when the Austere is used and the Effulgent would be useless, but as far as I know, most things that actually kill you in raids is magic based damage. The huge nuke AoEs from bosses etc.
2% just seems way more likely than 0,42% to ever save me from death.
Any thoughts about this? Anyone have stats for the amount of physical vs magic damage taken in most raids?
Should I be looking instead at the percentage difference in physical damage taken with or without Austere equipped?
For example 31,00% physical damage taken with Austere vs 31,42% damage taken without Austere, where the difference between the two means 1,355% more physical damage without Austere. That would make more sense to consider it better than Effulgent.
