does this mean this pot and others like it reduce your armor to 0 or something else crazy like that? Or's it just mean you cant do anything else because you're channeling the 'spell' this pot makes which creates the mana?

Wonder if Zen Alchemist Stone enhance Potion of Focus up to 56k mana gained. Did ya now?

For new users of this type of potion, "defenseless until their focus is broken" refers not only to the fact that this is a channeled effect (that stops if you move or cast anything during it), but also that if you get hit it will interrupt the effect early, giving you less mana. This is important and means you need to time your potting well, otherwise you might as well go with a safer Pozione di Mana del Maestro (or Spirito dell'Acqua, which may work as pre-pot but doesn't make much of a difference in the first seconds of an encounter).

Combine this with your other regen CDs (especially those that debuff you, since you won't be casting as much, such as ) in order to make the risks worthwhile. Still, it will always be risky and most players just stick to regular mana pots.

Your last alternative to use your pot CD for mana restoration in MoP is Rinvigorimento dell'Alchimista if you're an Alchemist, which adds healing to boot.
