This is tagged as a quest item, but it seems that's only due to the way you chose it. You can still vendor and it's not used for any quests.

If you roll a pandaren monk, the first quest is to go get your weapon from the weapon rack. That's the only reason this says "quest item". It is the automatic starter weapon for monks of other races, with no quest required.

It doesn't seem to be soul bond, so I think you could trade it to others, correct me if I'm wrong though.

Probably is immature of me, but this staff always reminds me of a bubble blower stick..like what kids use. 'Tis an awesome model. :D

This is the starting weapon for all Monks.
Non-Pandaren monks receive it pre-equipped, Pandaren monks pick it up during their first quest La lezione del ramo di ferro.

Not sure if its been available since Legion, but you can get this as a non-pandaren Monk. Just go to the Shang Xi Training Grounds and right click the weapon rack!
