Got the Monstrous Egg to drop off the 8th boss in BRD running it as a lvl 85.

Does anyone know if this is repeatable in the same day/week or can you only do one per week i.e. one per month?

As stated above, just wonder if anyone has a confirmation on this. I hate waiting months on end to finish achievements.

Please keep in mind that the quest is not repeatable during one DMF festival. After you complete the quest you cannot get it for the second time, as it states when you use an item for the second time "You have already completed this quest". In other words - you can do the quest once every month.
Now, to all the naysayers, Blizzard has confirmed that these quests are to be repeated each month. Source
They have also stated that the quest drops that happen in the dungeons/raids/BG’s happen all the time, even if the faire isn’t in town. Source

I can confirm as of this posting that the egg and other artifacts still drop from certain dungeon bosses regardless of your level. I just got it off of the Nerubian boss in Stratholme after 7 runs.

Seems to drop from bosses that are either beasts, dragons, or related. Maybe birds too? Someone should check out Sethekk Halls.

What is this? This item Uovo Mostruoso starts the quest Un uovo esotico that you can turn in with the Darkmoon Faire whenever it is in town.

How do I get it? In order to be eligible to loot this, you must have the Guida dell'Avventuriero di Lunacupa in your ~~bags~~ inventory - which can be obtained in one of two ways:

Receive it as a reward from Gelvas Grimegate after completing The Darkmoon Faire for Alliance or The Darkmoon Faire for Horde.
Receive it from Selina Dourman just by talking to her, she stands at the first tent on the left-side of the entrance to the Darkmoon Faire.
Note: if you have The Darkmoon Faire quest in your quest log, Selina will not offer to give you the guide - you will either need to drop the quest and speak to her again or simply hand in at which point you get the guide anyway.

Where do I get it? Uovo Mostruoso only seems to drop from various level-appropriate 5-man dungeon bosses. Drop locations will continue to be updated as they are confirmed:

Why do I want it? There are several reasons that you may want Uovo Mostruoso:

Receive 10 Darkmoon Prize Tickets upon handing it in - these tickets allow you to purchase mounts, pets and other collectibles whenever the Darkmoon Faire is on.
Receive 250 reputation (or more depending on your racial/guild bonuses etc) with the Darkmoon Faire - great for anyone who is either a rep junkie or is working towards The Insane title awarded by the Insane in the Membrane achievement.
Having completed this quest will count towards the achievement Darkmoon Despoiler.
Gold gold GOLD - since Uovo Mostruoso isn't BoP (bind on pickup), it is tradable and sellable via the auction house. If you don't care about the above three points, then you can profiteer from someone who does!

What else do I need to know?

High level characters can no longer farm lower level dungeons for Uovo Mostruoso since a recent hotfix. It is now only obtainable in level-appropriate dungeons, and as always, success is at the mercy of RNG.
The quest can only be turned in once per Darkmoon Faire. You can certainly collect more Uovo Mostruoso, however if you've turned in for the current faire, you'll have to wait till it's next in town.
Uovo Mostruoso can be looted anytime - that is to say, the Darkmoon Faire does not have to be currently on in order for you to be able to find these puppies.

Egg dropped on my Level 85 in LBRS from the Spider Boss wich also drops the Spider Pet. Shouldnt the Artefakt drop only in Dungeon wich give you Exp ?

While farming random non-heroics for exp on my lvl 80 druid. I saw 2 monstrous egg drops from King Dred in Drak'Tharon Keep, out of 4 runs. Also saw one from Keristrasza, the last boss in The Nexus. So it would seem the egg drops from monstrous animal bosses. makes sense.. : )

Also they sell pretty well i sold my extras very quickly for 1k .

Just got 4 eggs from 5 runs of Hellfire Ramparts from the chest after the last boss pair. I actually didn't loot the chest the first time so it might've been 100% because we had group loot turned off.

edit- I have since done this many more times and definitely is not 100%, however it may still be the fastest way to snag a chance at the egg.

As of the second Darkmoon Faire (Jan 1st), we are unable to farm the Darkmoon Dungeon quest items from low level instances so as a level 85, with this change/bugfix in mind, here's a compiled list of all the info you need to know for level 85 characters; if you are lower than level 85, other instances may be a better choice for you and more information may be found in other comments.

Firstly, to get any of these items to drop, you will need the Guida dell'Avventuriero di Lunacupa obtained from the introductory quest "The Darkmoon Faire" H A which is located in Orgrimmar and Stormwind, respectively, or pick it up from Selina Dourman, who stands at the left-side of the entrance to Darkmoon Faire. You can only get the Guida dell'Avventuriero di Lunacupa during the Faire but all the quest items can always drop, regardless of the Faire being on or not. The drop chance is quite low, roughly 15% and everyone who has the guide will be able to roll greed but not need.

Secondly, all of the items are BoE so can be traded with other players if you can't manage to pick up every item before the Faire ends or want to pocket some cash/give to a friend (These can be thrown in gift wrapping). Incidentally, all of the quest items can be handed in once per month (they're consumed when you hand it in), so you might want to stock these up if you're having lucky drops - sometimes you can get really unlucky and not get anything for a while!

Most importantly, the rewards: You can either sell them for a fair amount of gold to another player as these are quite desirable or hand them in for 250 DMF rep, some gold and varying amounts of tickets.Cristallo Infuso,Uovo Mostruoso,Grimorio Misterioso and Arma Decorata give 10 tickets each, and can drop from any dungeon level 76-85 (for level 85s). Trattato sulla Strategia gives 15 tickets but only drops from level 85 heroics. Together, these 5 give you Scorribande di Lunacupa. Piastrina Depredata, Stendardo del Caduto and Diario dell'Avventuriero Caduto give 5 tickets each and are obtained from looting the insignias of enemies in Battlegrounds. Together, these three give Darkmoon Defender. Rune dell'Indovino gives 10 tickets and drops from certain level 85 raid bosses. All together, these give Saccheggiatore di Lunacupa, 2250 DMF rep and 80 tickets.

Most of this information is now outdated. Official word is Monstrous Egg, Mysterious Grimoire, Imbued Crystal, and Ornate Weapon, do not drop for high level characters anymore.

1. This was a bug that is being hotfixed. A character that is not level-appropriate for a dungeon should not get Monstrous Egg, Mysterious Grimoire, Imbued Crystal, or Ornate Weapon drops. This is irrespective of whether or not the character has a Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide in her bags.

2. & 3. We previously had an issue where Grisly Trophy was only going to the player who recorded the killing blow. They are now distributed randomly. Furthermore, there were previously cases where all of the artifacts listed above could be rolled Need. That has been hotfixed and they are all now flagged Greed-only.

4. Regarding drop rates, these items are dropping as-intended. They are rare, and the quests and achievements that depend on them are intended to take some time to complete. They're comparable to the Darkmoon decks and cards. We made them tradeable, so that players who experience a run of bad luck can still acquire what they're after by trading with friends or buying them on the auction house.

You can no longer farm these Darkmoon Faire items in very low level dungeons if you are level 85, Monstrous Egg included.

One is still capable of farming for an Egg solo at level 85, however. I was able to solo Lady Naz'jar, the first boss of Throne of the Tides, as a Fury Warrior (397 equiped ilevel) with great ease. This was on NORMAL MODE. I blew all my offensive cooldowns on her right away, and when her 3 ads spawn, I was able to victory rush off them to heal to full.

I got 2 eggs out of 3 kills. Not a great sample pool, but yeah.

I will try to discover other soloable bosses. Seems like if it drops from this boss at normal mode to a level 85, the other cataclysm bosses should drop them, as long as they're soloable...

Also, I heard a rumor from a guildmate that you can go to lower level instances and you can get these items to drop if you have a person in your party at the instance's appropriate level and the darkmoon dungeon guide. I have no confirmed, however.

Updated for mop and it looks like there are no drops in Monastero degli Shandaren. According to the wowhead, Trattato sulla Strategia drops in heroic mode, and the other items drop in normal modes off the respective boss. I.e.: Arma Decorata drops in normal and not heroic.

I've compiled a easy to see table of where each item for Scorribande di Lunacupa can be found to get the most bang for your regular/heroic dungeon queues since Blizzard "fixed" the drops so that Fiera di Lunacupa monthly quest items can only be looted in level appropriate dungeons. This is ordered in alphabetical order, with the instances that drops the most items for DMF items towards the top.

I'm keeping the level 80 and 85 data for people who have not upgraded from the Battlechest and Cata to MoP.
If you find that a boss drops something not listed here. Leave a reply and I'll add it in, eventually.

While these items do not drop for players of inappropriate level anymore, they easily can be farmed with low level friend you can trust. Just quickly kill everything for him and let him loot bosses. Darkmoon items will drop from bosses now and while you can't loot them, your friend can! Since these items are BOE, he can just give them to you after looting.

As of 6.2 this and the other boss-dropping Darkmoon quest items have a chance to drop from any appropriate-level dungeon or raid boss and some higher-level trash as personal loot instead of group loot from specific bosses as they did previously.

Easiest way. XP cap a toon at level 20 and farm Stockade. If you dual box (same server) or have a guildee run you even better. You can only have one in your bags at a time on your level 20.

If it says "Dungeon Artifacts (randomly drop from mobs in dungeons of your level)",
does that mean I have to farm it on lvl 110 dungeon ?

If yes, then wowhead's darkmoon is outdated, did farm all placeses that was linked, but no drop.

Just so I know, if it still drop on low lvl raids/dungeon or not.

So bad that there is no singel help in-game where those items drop, did ask general chat where people did find them, but no answer ofc...
AH price on this item "monstrous egg" is about 4k-8k on my server

Since the Shadowlands pre-patch released, it appears that the developers have reduced/removed the level requirements for use of these artefacts. Good news for alts and lower-level characters.

For me it seems, that this, like other drops to turn in in at darkmoon faire, can't be turned in - when you got an old(maybe from years ago) version of these items. I had these still in my bags from legion-times, that can't be turned in. Also, if i destroyed them, there was no pop-up that related quests are also abandoned. So i have destroyed the items, and still the quests.
