Mine also contained another 'locked' Elementium Lockbox after opening the first.

Need 85 rogue with 425 lockpicking to open or you can use the Obsidian Skeleton Key that blacksmiths make to open it.

Found mine in Tol Barad Peninsula near the Sea Bass Quest area; off those mobs. Mine contained 36g and a cloth piece (green) "of the Whale".

This item can be found off of Cataclysm mobs as of 4.0.6. Contains 30 to 40 gold, an uncommon green, and has a chance to contain another Elementium Lockbox.

~~Note: When it does contain another Elementium Lockbox, the gold reward is much lower, around 1 to 3 gold.~~ After I opened another box inside a box, I received a normal box. I stand corrected.

As of 48 hours after the 4.0.6 patch I've gotten 3 of these already. 2 from the mobs in Elementium Depths and 1 from a random heroic. Drop rate seems pretty good so far. I did receive 30-40g and a green from all of them.

Just opened my first one. Contained: ilvl 300 green weapon , ilvl 312 green shoulder, and 35g 14s 71c.

Note that Engineers can also blast these open with the Volatile Seaforium Blastpack (req. engineering skill of 425), cause lets face it, 30-40g easily makes up for the cost of some Electrified Ether and Obsidium Bolts, especially if you didn't BUY THE MATS ON THE AH. Just sayin'.

Double Lockbox all the way!

Confirming that as of 02/28/11 you can still get Elementium Lockboxes within Elementium Lockboxes. I would not be surprised to see Blizzard fix this at some point. Unless their intent all along was for us to have a possibly endless cycle of Elementium Lockboxes.

Question, however, anyone yet to get a triple Elementium Lockbox?

I too got lockbox inside lockbox and was like "lol omg f**k you blizzard" and get here just to see that it's old news. I hate world.

There should be some kind of absurd WTF-loot like founding a gnome inside a lockbox. When you open it, (untargetable) gnome npc runs away.

Seems that the Elementium Lockbox is indeed some kind of mystic container, as this happened to me a few minutes ago after opening one.

It's nearly as amazing as how you can fit mammoths into your backpack :)

I can confirm a triple-box today. I am a rogue, I was picking for someone. Opened the first box, he got ~30g and a second box. There was no other loot, just gold and a box.

Opened the 2nd box, ~30g, a green, and another box.

Opened the 3rd box, ~30g and a green. There doesn't seem to be any affect on the gold contained in a box if there's another lockbox.

Out of 40-50 elementium lockboxes I've done, I've gotten a 2nd box 5 times and a triple-box once.

Anyone get a 4-box?

First one I opened contained another lockbox but that's all, the second one contained 27g, and a green crossbow and cloth shoulders.

Can you pickpocket theese of cata mobs? anybody tried and can confirm that it's possible?
Been picking quite some mobs now, and so far no luck. But i heard that it should be doable, maybe im just unlucky.

A guildy of mine claimed to have found the enchating formula for + strength on bracers in one of those boxes yet he uses no wowhead looter and as I can see such item was never listed. Anyone heard of something similar happening?

Okay well I won a lockbox in a random heroic the night before and forgot to open it. Logged in today, found a rogue to open it for me, and so began the chain of lockboxes.

Including the original lockbox I won in the heroic, I ended up with 5 total (opened it to find another lockbox inside FOUR times) each time opening it gave me between 26g and 35g. I had it sitting in 1 spot in my bags every time I got a new one and before opening it the last time I moved it to a different spot.

Perhaps it was bugging and if I didn't move it, it would've continued to give me lockboxes inside of lockboxes? Or maybe I was extremely lucky to find a quadruple lockbox-in-lockbox paradox. Who knows....?

Have had the multiple lock box happen 5 times in a row since it a random item you'll get out of the boxes i dont think its a bug or a glitch all in all with all the multiple boxes i've gotten and opened as a BS i've made round 700G just from the boxes alone

I find all those stories of lockboxes inside lockboxes, quite hard to believe.

First of all, do you really think Blizzard didn't already figure out that that would be kinda silly.
Second, how come I don't see Elementium (or any lockboxs at all) lockbox, in the containts list?
And if a elementium lockbox can contain a elementium lockbox then it should also be in the list of: Contained in.
But it isn't, really it isn't, go scroll up and look for yourself.

I sent twenty of these things off to a friend to be unlocked. I didn't know that they could contain other lockboxes, so I was pretty surprised when one dropped another one. I clicked a couple more and one of them had TWO lockboxes inside. Yo, yo, dawg.

For those with Ingegneria, Barile di Polvere da Sparo del Mastro di Chiavi is useful for this Cata lockbox (and of course the Mists Scrigno di Ectoferro). Carica Esplosiva di Nitronite Volatile has been nerfed and can no longer open either.
