I was finding the same results as you guys so I decided to do some testing. Unfortunately twilight jasmine is extremely expensive right now on my server, but I was able to buy 37 stacks of cinderbloom for roughly 100/stack.

I got enough for 23 inferno inks and 190 blackfallow inks.

You can gain up to 3 (or more maybe) per mill. This is very rare though, but it happened to me 2 times in a row.
Cinderbloom was down to 65/stack on my server, 22 stacks made me 27 burning embers and 238 ashen pigment.

I just milled through 47 stacks of Cinderbloom, and it's safe to say that the same split we had in WotLK has carried on into Cataclysm herbs.

Low end herbs:
Cinderbloom
Heartblossom
Stormvine
Azshara's Veil

High end herbs:
Whiptail
Twilight Jasmine

Low end herbs yield 5 Blackfallow inks and 0.5 Inferno inks per stack of herbs milled ( on average), while high end herbs yield 6 Blackfallow inks and 1 Inferno ink per stack of herbs milled ( on average).

Milling 800 Twilight Jasmine (40 stacks) gave me 87 burning embers and 448 ashen pigment. Gives a 54% chance on each mill to get a burning ember on this batch... doesn't seem to be very different from milling whiptail, and whiptail seems to be a lot faster to collect. Efficiency-wise I'd say go for Whiptail.

By this you get about 1.5 Inferno ink per stack of twilight Jasmine if you trade the blackfallow ink in dalaran too.

Edit: Doing the same with 54 stacks of whiptail, I got 1.6 inferno ink per stack.

50 burning embers or 25 inferno ink
248 ashen pigment or 124 blackfallow ink

143 burning embers (1,19 per stack)

For inks that would be:
5,25 Blackfallow ink per stack
0,595 inferno ink per stack

so if you turn in the blackfallow at the ink trader in dalaran, to inferno ink you'll get ~1,12 Inferno ink per stack of cinderbloom (should be the same as stormvine, azshara's veil and heartblossom

Took a little over 1hr to farm in Uldum (already had the Azshara's Veil) and I had Uldum all to myself.

Whoa, I just got 3 Burning Embers from milling 5 Cinderbloom. Didn't think that was possible, there's no indication of it on Wowhead and no comments to that effect yet. Very rarely documented occurence, or weird bug?

I've been having this happen also, and not even that rarely. Milled about 10 stacks of herbs and at least 3-4 of those mills dropped 2-3 burning embers. Maybe a stealth buff to help lower card prices? Probably better off not saying anything so Blizz never gets wise.

The drop rate seems to have undergone a nerf. I usually get around 14 per 100. I milled up 135 and got a grand total of 6. I am getting damn tired of all these unnecessary nerfs Blizzard is doing and not telling people. I guess they want to get rid of customers.

is there any way to speed up the milling and making the ink? freaken takes forever to turn your herbs into the ink for the darkmoon cards!

The drop rate of these has been SIGNIFICANTLY reduced, I'm willing to bet it was a stealth fix they put in, because I've been getting 25% or less when milling solid Twilight Jasmine, and with the AH on my server, Twilight Jasmine is worth less than Cinderbloom now. I've attached a screenshot to show you the insane low drop rate of Embers as of today.

I'll admit, it was a small sample size, but I just got through 3 stacks of whiptail, and I only had 1 burning embers come in. Haven't tried the Twilight Jasmine, but it's running for over twice as much on the AH on my server.

For the people who want milling/enchanting go faster.
use the addon ''Panda'',it doesnt go automaticly,you still need to click what you want to mill,but it goes very fast

According to my data, the drop rates for the pigments are:

Pigmento Cinereo:
300% for Gelsomino del Crepuscolo and Frustaliana
270% for Cuorfiorito and Velo di Azshara
250% for Vite Tempestosa and Sbocciacenere

Braci Ardenti:
50% for Gelsomino del Crepuscolo and Frustaliana
25% for Cuorfiorito, Velo di Azshara, Vite Tempestosa, and Sbocciacenere
