Awesome. I always liked these guys, but it's finally nice to see a useful one.

It has a stat, so it's useful as a trinket beyond just the use effect. Something previous versions lacked. And it doesn't seem to indicate it's taught by schematic, so hopefully we can learn it from our trainers while leveling.

Probably meant for DPS, since it fights for you, but I definitely plan on using this with my tank, just for kicks.

My dragonling hits for about 300-500 crits 1000.

It can also cast a lightning bolt that take around 5000 not sure if it can crit.

At level 84 my dragonling had 30k hp.

Seems like the pet stays even after swapping trinkets, and seeing it does around 30k dmg during the minute it's out (might be less to raid bosses), this seems to be a decent trinket to keep around for quite a while.
I made a macro for easy swapping for a rogue.

/equipslot 14 Elementium Dragonling
/stopmacro
/use Potion of the Tol'vir
/use Elementium Dragonling
/equipslot 14 YourTrinketHere
/cast Stealth

Just swap the potion to your own prepot if you ain't agi user, and take stealth off if you ain't rogue.

The major downside to this trinket is the fact that the summoned pet dies rather easily. It's not protected from AoE effects like the class-summoned pets and as such won't really do much for you in fights with AoE damage.

Apparently it's also set to aggressive, so be ready to pull all nearby mobs when soloing.

Did some testing against boss-level dummies.

Dragonling did between 250 and 450 DPS. Did not appear to be dependent on gear.

Requires more testing for a more concrete number, but the on-use could make this a damned good trinket pre-raiding even for specs that marginalize Mastery.

As a warlock it's possible to have a pet out, summon a Doomguard/Infernal and have this pet out at the same time. Thought it might have an issue w/already having a guardian, putting this here for info.

I am a level 85 hunter and i made this but every time i try to use it the dragonling just follows me around not attacking. I have tried not having my pet out but it still doesn't work.

This thing is awful for soloing though, unfortunately. It's got a huge aggro radius and has gotten me into more trouble than it's worth.

For newbie healers, it's worth noting that you can reforge 100 of that mastery rating into spirit, making it better for healing than any other trinket i've come across as a freshly dinged lvl85.
Just remember to remove it from macros, an aggressive-set pet is not usually a good thing in an instance :)

This little guy is great for hunters in pvp, spring him and a snake trap then feign death and your enemy will have a hard time targeting you while your pal uses Thundershock on them

Elementium Dragonling is one of my favorite trinkets. The stats are good for my character,
I like its forked lightning against large groups, and with the 5 minute cooldown I can use it all the time.

Since my character is a tank the forked lightning is actually quite useful when running dungeons; most of the time things are going great
but there are times when my health gets low and I need just a little more time to get my health back, I click on the Elementium Dragonling,
and it usually pulls some or all of the enemies off of me long enough for me to use some of my self healing attacks or abilities and also of course
time for the healer to heal me; and then back in the fight.

Note here are some other engineering recipes that might useful for tanks (or anyone else of course):
1. Cardboard Assassin (I have not tried this one, but might be useful to temporarily pull enemies off tank just like Elementium Dragonling)
2. Grounded Plasma Shield
3. Quickflip Deflection Plates
4. Spinal Healing Injector

This is worth trading in most non-passive trinkets. If you're like me and you hung on to your Gnomish Battle Chicken to level 80 this is a great trade in as this scales and does ultimately more damage.

EDIT; So apparently trading in trinkets for better trinkets is wrong?

the name of the skill is lighting breath, seems has 15sec cool down, hit 5500 on single target and it looks like chain lighting rather than bolt.

I'm an 80 twink warrior, and I consider this trinket to be a BiS item, my only problem with it is, since it sticks on my target I have thought several times about making a macro to intervene to it (if charge is down) to close ground between my target and I. I can do a simple:

/target Elementium Dragonling
/cast Intervene

That works, but for it to be more fluid for PvP I want to use a /cast type of macro. The problem with this is, I've tried to do target=Elementium Dragonling, target=construct, target=pet...and none of this has worked. I need help figuring out what this thing is classified as so I can fix this issue.

I just tried target=guardian as well, no luck.

Sigh... made 2 of them, but apparently can only equip one. Been nice to have known that BEFORE making 2 of them. :(
