According to this post, it provides only ~0,33 % crit at level 85. Huge drop from the Heartseeker scope that provides ~0,87% crit at level 80. WTF?

Edit: Since this was posted, the scope was changed from the classic +crit chance to an AP proc scope. This proc based enchant is a first for ranged weapons.

did some testing with it..the proc is every 1m more or less..sometimes procced after 1m 20secs..some others after 45-50secs..

It's a bit nerfed for a level 85, but I am very happy it's AP as it's a hard stat for me to add over crit or agi. Still very important and this fills that gap I have a hard time with.

Interesting. So if it procs at occasion at 45 seconds, its internal cooldown cannot be more than that. (And assuming 1 shot per 1,5 seconds perhaps a chance of 10%, but one needs more testing to be sure.)

So that is 10/45 * 800 = 178 AP bonus at best.

That is definitly less than the 88 hit enchant.

Considering this goes - on my servers - for over 700 gold, where the 88 hit is less than 10 gold, it is an easy choice.

Even if you have too much hit on your gear elsewhere already, reforging that hit into something else will probably be better.

So let's hope either Blizzard 'magically' changes the proc-rate (which those sneekie developers on occasion do :-) ) or so.

Unfortunately, Gnomish X-Ray Scope does not include the same effect as Gnomish X-Ray Specs.
I was slightly dissapointed.

Provides 4 skillups when obtained at level 515. Only other skillup option is yellow at that level. So you have a choice between an expensive (and wasteful on the last create) item 3 times, or doing 10 fishing lures minimum.

178/2 = 88
so kept up it gives as much ap as 88 agility
i really don't see how hit is better..

Dummy Testing

Ran 5100 Autoshots on the Target Dummy
Minimum time between end of proc and start of proc 32.1s, suggesting ICD of 30s.
Total Procs 71, from 2975 shots outside of 30s ICD, proc chance = 2.4%

Plotting the data vs a simuluated curve at 2.5% proc chance looks good. However, there is still some noise and with only 71 procs it could be a 3% proc chance and the RNG was not in my favour.

Overall the proc chance is shocking with a maximum gap of 2.5mins between procs during the 2hr dummy session. You'd be bummed it that happened to you in a boss fight!

Proc's off a warriors heroic throw. I attached one to my warriors gun because I made a bunch to level engineering and they don't sell very well. Proc'd off heroic throw earlier. Not particularly useful information, but worth knowing.

Okay, now thats just unfair. We get X-ray spectacles from Gnomish Engineering, which btw allows us to see through peoples armor and clothes, but we get a scope that dosent do that?

What do you have to do? Target the person, get your ready ranged attack pose and say "Dont worry, Im not going to shoot you. Im just looking through your clothes." (sarcasm)

On tarren mill they cost 300g on AH
And goes from 300-500.
So think they are better then +hit.
But if it is a item you will change in the future. (Not to fast but like a raid or 2) Then this will be a wast if you ask me, both +hit and x-ray

From the view of an engineer:
It gives 4 skill up points per scope as long it is orange.
Since it is learnable from 515 it will be the perfect (and atm also cheapest way) to reach 525.
As soon you reach 517 each engineer should create 2 scopes to become finally an illustrious engineer.

As of 5.4 this can be applied to the heirloom bows and pvp guns. As a lv 12 hunter it procced for 300 attack power.

On paper this is one of the best heirloom ranged weapon enchants (Source)
However after testing on a fresh hunter, I went from levels 1 to 5 and didn't see a single proc

Since Agility to Attack Power conversion is now 1:1 and, at the time of writing this, Blizzard has not fixed the old world enchants - this is now the go-to scope replacing Mirino Fatale di Ser Nerofumo.

As of WoD Prepatch, this scope now beats Lord Blastingtons Scope of Doom since it gives just over 100 agility,(100 AP) wheras this scope gives 200 AP (near double attackpower because of the nerf to mainstats).

As for 7.3.5 patch (Legion) for 19 lvl char proc gains +150 to range attack power. Huge bonus for lvling and wpvp. The sad is an random proc rate.
