This is going to be VERY expensive at the start of the expansion. It's used for all the titansteel equivalent weapons, engi goggles, and various other desirable pieces. Only way to get it is by Alchemy transmutes and it's on a 1 day CD.

If you want the best stuff first, you're going to pay through the nose for this!

Seeing as how Truegold is Arcanite 2.0, I'm wondering where my Truegold Reaper is.

The weapons made from it, such as Forged Elementium Mindcrusher don't count--they are NO Reaper.

I highly recommend you wait 2-3 hours before Midnight server time before you sell your truegold. After midnight, lots of alchemists will be transmuting their truegold and throwing it on the AH, drastically increasing the supply and driving the prices down (ie from 2.5k-1.8k in my server). As the supply dwindles by the end of the day, the prices should shoot right back up and thus creating the optimal time to sell.

Great, just great. You mean us poor miners have to sweet-talk an alchemist into making these for us? I already miss the days when miners were the only source of Titansteel, which was the WotLK-equivalent to this. We made lots of gold selling those...

I can understand that Blizzard wants the professions to be more interconnected than before, but come on, guys. As far as I can tell, all the mats are gathered with mining. Thus, it makes logical sense for this to need mining to create. And they hand it over to alchemists? The guys who, as someone above me noted, sell it on the AH for a mere pittance?

Edit: Yes, I am aware that my comment can be called whining, but you know what? I consider this sufficiently upsetting that I don't care if you call me on it.

Note that creating this triggers a shared daily cooldown with the Living Elements and Pyrium Bar transmutes. Check your auction house to find which is the best transmute to use, because you're only doing one of them per alchemist today.

Note also that Cataclysm gem transmutes (meta and colored superior-quality) do not have cooldowns at all. You can keep making them as long as you have materials.

While Truegold does not share a cooldown with gems, it does share a cooldown with Elemental. Since Life to Air is approximately 450g profit (not counting procs), alchemists would be foolish to do this transmute for less than 500g + mats. People are apparently starting to figure this out, as I see people spamming trade looking for the transmute over and over.

They need to separate the cooldowns (or perhaps give it back to Blacksmiths), or truegold is going to be very scarce and very expensive.

Just my humble opinion, but the truegold requirements for level 359 stuff is ridiculous. I won't make a single 359 item (for myself much less for sale). why the hell would anyone pay 10k gold for a 346 --> 359 upgrade, when they can just grind out valor tokens instead if they really wanted that imaginary 'huge' upgrade?

the chaos orb requirement doesn't seem terrible, but considering how difficult it is to farm/make just one of these...and stuff is going to require 3-6 of them?

Really Blizzard? Terrible.

The value of Truegold is falling rapidly on my high-pop realm. No one will pay more than 800g and they are barely selling at those low prices. I think it's because of the extreme amount of noobs selling the CD for 100g. Truegold might have a nice price tag but don't expect to get rich. I have found out that Transmute: Living Elements (which shares the same CD) is a lot more profitable and reliable. You can easily farm the mats in no time with herbalism. Maybe making Truegold would be more beneficial on medium sized realms?

I would recomend having a X-mute master do it, i know im being captain obvious here but if your going to be paying upwards of 100g for a CD you might as well pay for one that might double your money

you do realize they have to pay you 1000 gold -/+ so lets go with averages, so lets go with Cinturone della Pena d'Elementio
Assuming they buy all the mats;
hardened elementium bars x 4=868 gold
true gold bars x 3=2847gold
Chaos orbs x 2 somewhat hard to gauge price seeing as its bop from dungeons. If hes in a guild he probably doesn't need your truegold anyway, and if hes not in a guild or in a more casually oriented guild I don't think he'll have access to those mats. I don't assume the blacksmith is always a tank, i also don't think the blacksmith wins an orb consecutive runs. Considering repairs, queues, and time spent (Which would probably add up to maybe 5-7 hours give or take considering queues, fail groups, general stoppages, and waiting for replacements) I would consider 1000 gold per chaos orb about a fair average amount of overall price considering the above factors.
Chaos orbs x 2=2000gold
868+2847+2000=5715
The average price for the belt is 5950
5950-5715=235gold

A flask averaging all 5 types average price is 191 gold, so his profit is very little considering wowhead data.

Also if you say their in your guild then a) why are they selling gear they make with your/the guilds mats b) you should be providing flasks for them no matter what.

Lets go with him paying someone for a transmute instead of the auction house. For 1 bar it would cost;
volatile fire at 19 gold each x 10 = 190 gold
volatile air at 34 gold each x 10 = 340 gold
volatile water at 13 gold each x 10 = 130 gold
pyrium bars at 32 gold each x 3 = 96 gold
190 + 340 + 130 + 96 = 756 gold
Its a fairly long cool down so say you sell it for 75 gold.
thats 831 gold. thats about a 100 gold difference from the auction house.
thats 535 gold give or take some. Thats 2.8 flasks considering 4 of the 5 cost more that 191 gold well say thats 2 flasks. Assuming they buy/sell for those prices and tip you that much they could theoretically pay for their own flasks etc. but thats still not a wide profit margin.

All i ask is that next time please research before you make a comment like such. Just because they make 6k on an item doesnt mean they make 6k they have overhead. This happens with many companies. Just because a company sell say 1 billiob worth of products doesnt mean they make 1 billion it usually means they make maybe 100 million?

TL;DR Research before you make comments, and always research any fact someone gives you before accepting it.

You can get up to 5 in one transmute with transmutation master, I don't know if you can go any higher. But that's the higest I have transmuted in one go.

I've been under the impressions that "alchemy etiquette" was the following:

If you specifically ask for a specialized alchemist in trade, and a specialized alchemist responds, then you are entitled to the procs. In this case the alchemist will probably charge a fee (say 50 -100g for a transmute spec, depending on your server).
If you do not specifically ask for a specialized alchemist in trade, then the alchemist gets to keep the procs.

In both cases the alchemist makes money. The first has steady income whereas the second is volatile; the second is subject to variability in both proc numbers and market value.

Been monitoring the AH prices on truegold on a couple of servers. The prices have been steadily decreasing and somewhat reached a somewhat stable point. Raw mats are about the cost of making 1 of these. Decent profit seems attainable only when this actually "proc"s.

I'm shocked nobody has said this yet. When created by an alchemist, truegold has a chance to "proc". This means that you have a chance to make extra truegold with the mats of one, up to 5 truegold. The estimated proc rate is as follows. 1=100% 2=9% 3=4% 4=1.5% 5=0.5%

In patch 4.3.3, this is still a great money maker if you are an alchemist (especially a transmutation master). The mats might cost you approximately 100 gold, and can be resold for 300-500 once changed (on my server anyway).

I am a transmutation master my self and I got six truegold with one cool down. :]

Really confused because I logged on my lvl 47 hunter for the first time in about a year today, to see what I can sell to make some money. I had 20 Truegold bars, worth 500g a piece o.O

Did Truegold used to be mineable pre-4.0? Thinking back I'm certain I mined them like Truesilver ore. I have no idea how else I could have acquired them on a lowbie alt with no gold nor need for Truegold. I can't find any information about whether Truegold existed pre-4.0 either...

Where do you get the recipe to transmute Truegold? Every trainer I've visited tells me I already know Cataclysm Alchemy. They have nothing else to offer as far as training special recipes. So, where do you learn the recipes for Truegold? I appreciate the people who write these guides. I just wish someone would update the guides when things change, such as the trainers no longer offering to train you in special recipes.
