The oil does not conserve transformations.
E.g.: If you use the oil while under the effect of an Orb of Deception, you will turn stiff as usual. When the orb's duration runs out you will turn back to your original self. You will still be stiff and strike the same pose but your model will be back to normal.

I tried to use this while Feigning Death, when the character is leaned way far back, but it just made me stand straight up. Lame!

I did some testing with this potion on my two accounts. Using the potion while i did a /mountspecial i could see the toon freeze with my proto drake rearing back in an impressive pose. However when I went and looked at character A on my account B, character A was just frozen in a standard idle pose. So my results showed that although you can see yourself in a funny pose other people see just a normal pose. One explanation is that latency could be the reason for this. Some more testing is called for.

edit: ok further testing reveals that latency is a key factor here. using the potion too late is what resulted in my toons being frozen in the idle state to other people. What you should do if you experience 500ms (my normal ms) is to use the potion a bit earlier to get the pose you want other people to see.

Was trying to see if I can freeze the particle effects but too bad they didnt, and also found out if you pop Icebound Fortitude (immune to stuns) before taking a swig, you'd still get frozen.

Removing any type of transformation buff, or mounting buff will cancel the effect, i learned this when i went to Vashir and go on my seahorse,used the potion, and then had a lock summon me to the middle of SW, well first problem, yo cant accept the summon with the potion active. second problem i tried accepting it then using the potion and it dismounted me when i clicked the summon.

2. Jump from atop of something tall aming to land in water
3. Drink the oil while still on the air
4. Die

Unless you are in a flying mount you will suffer fall damage if you drink it before landing

Deepstone Oil:

1. The buff gives your character a yellow tint, identical to the frozen characters standing around deep inside The Caverns of Time.

2. For hunters it will freeze the hunter but not the combat pet. You can can't feed or heal the pet but you can still
click on enemies and the attack button and it will go over and attack them; eagle eye and most (if not all)
of the other actions don't work because you are stunned.

3. No effect on non-combat pets.

4. If you log off the buff will be removed.

5. If you are falling and you drink this you will not stop falling, you will hit the ground and die (if you are high enough or just damage if not).

6. If you jump off something, click on Parachute Cloak, and then click on "Deepstone Oil" it will not change your rate of fall (you get slow fall from the parachute as usual until it times out).

7. For Death Knights this will not freeze your Army of The Dead or your Ghoul;
and probably any minions (tried it with Mechanical Dragonling and it had no effect on it).

8. Tried with the Goblin Dragon Gun and it did not even freeze the fire (which I was hoping for)
or the pose of him shooting the gun, just frooze my character as if he had just been standing there.

Best use I've found so far:

1) Use "Elixir of Giant Growth"

2) Turn into my Sandstone Drake

3) Stand a little ways out of the AH entrance

4) Type /mountspecial and use this right as your wings are fully spread and you're in the middle of your roar.

5) Look cool.

Note to self: Do not use in the Deadmines when Vanessa injects you with the nightmare elixir. When you're all tied up and supposed to jump out, you fall in the fire and just stand there and don't take any damage, even if you remove the buff.

I do not know what causes it, but when I go AFK with this elixer and I come back after 10 mins, the buff fades for whatever reason. I do not know if it just randomly fades due to some RNG thing or if there is a hidden timer on it.

It sells pretty darn well on my server with the right touch.

1) Wearing Bloodsail attire
2) Mount up on the largest mount you own
3) Use Deepstone Oil in front of the AH
4) People will ask "How are you doing that?" and explain "Deepstone Oil"

Roughly 1.5-2g for the fish, selling for 15g (only on my server). :)

Was mounted in front of the main Org AH midway in the air with this and had a shaman whisper me. Our conversation is below:

: how is your mount not moving
: he is stuck
: ah right
: you need to spam heal me to unstick it

At this point the shaman was just stood looking at me for 10 seconds, he then dismounted and started spamming healing surge until he was almost oom at which point I clicked off the deepstone oil buff.

I have tested this and your pose is not synchronized to other players.

For the people that are with you when you use the potion, there is a small desynchronization, depending on everyone's lag.
For the people who come near you(your character appears on their screen), after you used the potion, what I believe happens is that the game starts playing the animation, and after a few milliseconds freezes your character, catching it in a random pose.

All in all, your character might look like it's in an epic pose on your screen, but in a different pose on other player's screens.

After drinking this, you can in fact blink, but you can not Blink.

Also you can not use this potion while moving or falling.

You can, however, talk no NPCs if they are close enough...

I like freezing on a drake while the wings are down right over the entrance to the Trade District Auction House to make some sort of drake-drapes for people to go through. :D

Another weird thing: If your a Warlock that's wearing/has transmogged your helm to Cappuccio del Malefico and you do the "/roar" emote as you drink the oil, your wings will keep popping out/in as long as your frozen.

Just discovered if you macro one of the temp mounts(tuft of yak fur or oddly shaped horn) and a deepstone oil right after it you will freeze the mount on summoning. Oil is removed when the mount fades and removing the oil prematurely causes the mount to start running again.

I made a list of gimmick items which you can use to transform your character into a different form or race or even gender to play around with. I didn't add items like weapons that provide a procc with a transform effect that only lasts a few seconds even though I know about them. Appears to be buggy in the current expansion.
Normally; pre-Shadowlands, it would instantly freeze your character in their current position and mid-animation (making for some really cool mount special freeze animations.)
Now, animations continue to play, sometimes in reverse, before finally freezing (and sometimes then continuing to perform idle animations).

As of 11/26 this now works again and will freeze you in place on use! Also, it now stacks to 200! No more wasted bag space!

This item is still bugged and not working correctly, you can rear up on your mount and use it to lock the mount in that pose, but it will very slowly come back down to the ground, and continue to make very slow odd animation movement. Like 1 frame every 5 seconds.
