Ok, I'm confused about the suggested AH price, is this for each Clam Meat, or are they for 10 pcs? And does this apply for all stackable items at WoWHead?

I don't know if this will help much but.. On my server in the auction house, a 10 stack goes for 3 gold. I play on Darkspear ( high population ). Read my comment about where to find the mobs so you don't have to spend money at the AH! You can easily grind for the meat. Link: http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=3713#M0z

I personally have 2 favorite spots for this in Azeroth.

The murlocs in Silverpine forest (right behind Undercity).

Farming the Clam Meat that drops from the mobs above can prove to be very beneficial, not only for your personal cooking, but for making a decent income as well.
In my personal experience I could sell a stack of 10 for 4-6 gold. Not too bad, especially if you have a higher level character that can burn through the mobs quickly.

I definitely think that 25, 66 in Westfall is the best. I got onto these moneymakers in The Zoram Strand but there the creatures were higher level and they would aggro others, and you were underwater. Here is better, although the drop rate isn't very good.

A stack of 10 sells for about 3.5G on my server.

By far, Westfall 25,66 is the best place. In roughly half an hour I got 40 pieces of clam meat & 40 pieces of crawler meat, great for leveling up cooking. Took me up to cooking skill level 130 with just the one farming run. :) Lvl 67 BM hunter

-The best place I've found to farm for Clam Meat is on the Coast in Westfall. In almost every drop, I recieved a Barnacle Clam, which will include a Clam Meat.
-It's also a great money maker if you decide to sell the meat on the Auction House, and the people who are leveling up their cooking will certainly buy this.

Westfall is NO LONGER a decent place to get these.
15 crabs and not a single clam.
The crabs are good for crawler meat and claws though.

The naga in Darkshore occasionally drop Small Barnacled Clams which drop clam meat. Not sure how often or if it's worth grinding the mobs here, just thought I'd share. I don't have coords, otherwise I'd post them up.

Before Cataclysm was released I used to grind in Silverpine Forest around Lordamere Lake on the murlocs.
I went there earlier today and killed around 20 of them and none of them dropped anything.
This clam meat seems to becoming more notoriously hard to find..

I just ventured over to the Zoram Strand and after killing 11 I got 4 of the clams

Not confirmed but the Wrathtail Wave Riders seem to drop them more frequently than the Wraithtail Sorceress

TL;DR
Don't go to Silverpine Forest for clam meat.
Zoram Strand seems to have the highest drop rate, farm here.

Okay.. about Westfall:
it IS a good spot for getting the meat, however, what alot of you seem to be missing is that the Crawlers drop CRAWLER meat (which is needed to a recipe at cooking lvl75) BUT if you, like me, need CLAM meat - that does indeed come from the barnacled clams - kill the murlocs.
So head to Westfall, kill both Crawlers and Murlocs, cause they both drop meat needed for cooking. And the crawlers also drop Crawler Claw, which you can use for another recipe.

I killed crawlers, it was only when I returned to SW to start cooking the meat that I realised it was the wrong kind - DOH ;) - so I went back.. and tried the murlocs. And those drop the Clams you have to open to get the clam meat. They also drop Murloc fin, which you can use for a lvl90 recipe (Murloc Fin Soup)
Hope this is of some help.

Edit: the droprate on clams is not that great on the murlocs, but depending on your level they can be a good choice.
And while I was killing murlocs, they dropped the recipe for Westfall Stew (lvl50), so when I felt like I was done w murlocs, I just moved up "to dry land" ;) and killed boars for their meat. Tadaaaa

The best place I've found for this post-Cataclysm is in the Echo Isles, the Troll starting area. The nagas on the northern island (with the cave) drop the Small Barnacled Clams quite decently, and are very low level and close together, so clearing them out is a piece of cake.

If you're over in Kalimdore bringing up a Night Elf, the naga east of the ruins of Auberdine drop the Small Barnacled Clams quite regularly.

Just to let you guys know...if you're alliance and trying to farm here, you will not be able to enter the cave. There is a Boss lvl troll that is the only troll there that will attack and destroy you. One shot for most I'd imagine since she hit me with a ranged shot for 100k damage.

The rest of the troll npc's that are fighting the naga will not attack you and you cannot damage them...even with AoE, so that's what I had to do while farming this.

Hope this saves people the shock of being one shot out of nowhere.

if your looking for clam meat westfall is the place to go kill the murlocs and get shells that open and give you clam meat they are located all along the shore and under water by the broken down ships and as a bounus if you need linen cloth that drop good as well as i just about 10 minutes ago farmed it for a lower level toon

Echo Isles is confirmed to have Naga that have have a high drop rate for Small Barnacled Clam which yields 99% Clam Meat. The island North of Echo Isles (67, 73) has a cave that has a high respawn rate as well for the Naga that drop the clams. There were two of us and we couldn't kill/loot fast enough to keep up with the respawns. We obtained approximately 90 Small Barnacled Clams in 20-25 mins. Great for power leveling your cooking!

Guys, you have to try this:
Redridge Mountains, Stonewatch falls. Come with empty bags but hearthstone.

6 murlocs only. 5 of them respawn along a stretch of 30 yards.
They respawn 2-3 at a time when the last is killed.
Position yourself in the middle and 2-shot them, so they'll come to you.
Important: kill the 6th asap, it patrols away and there's no respawn until you kill it.

You get the clams AND murloc fins. I was so amazed by the respawn and the loot I forgot to check performance. After +-30 minutes I got 80+ meat and 41 fins. Boil until grey at 130 (train at 125), proceed up up with fins.
Bonus:
3 greens (throw away the greys and pots, frankly)
52 wool cloth (I know, I'll post the tip for cloth farmers too)
79 linen cloth (same)
19 raw longjaw (if I only knew before...)
1 (only :( ) small lustrous pearl

Hmm, I'm not sure if they changed it for Cata, but I'm at this exact location, and I'm only getting crawler meat, not a single clam meat drop (no barnacle things to open the clam either). Seems they nerfed this area, anyone else get these results?

Small Barnacled Clams, as of version 4.3, have a high drop rate from Encrusted Tide Crawlers that are found in high numbers up and down the Twilight Shore (Darkshore). This is an excellent place to farm if you need Clam Meat for cooking.

As stated above Westfall is the best place for these. You can get Clam Meat from the Murloc's and Crawler meat from the crabs. BUT... you can also have a recipe drop for "Cooked Crab Claw" which you can get crab claws from the crabs as well. That should give a decent boost in cooking doing the two and able to get both ingredients from the same mob's.

Alrighty if the top comment here did not help you enough- here is some ways to farm this:

In Westfall, all around the beaches, the crabs have a fast spawn rate and drop about 1-3. But let me state: this apparently has changed according to others since Cataclysm, but-- I farmed this in Pandaria quite a bit and it worked.

So maybe it's a bit more RNG than thought?

If you do not want to farm crabs (or even attempt it since it might not work at all, lol), head over the Blackfathom Deeps in Ashenvale and run through the dungeon till the end. Many of the adds there tend to drop these. Along with that, at the end where Aku'mai is, the outside area with the water, has a bunch of Giant Clams laying around in the water. They also drop about 1-3 per clam.

I don't personally know the respawn rate of these, but I do know that it's easier at that point to run out of the dungeon and run back in than to sit and wait for the clams to spawn back.

The crabs on the coast off Westfall do not drop clams, only crawler meat. The murlocs drop some clams, but the drop rate is pretty low.

The best place to farm clam meat for Alliance is on the coast of Darkshore near the naga island to the south. The encrusted tide crawlers there and the murlocs drop a good number of them. Up the coast further encrusted tide crawlers do not drop clams. Nagas only drop a few, so don't bother to go down into the cave.
