This flower is mostly found in scorched, fiery areas (hence the name).

Places where I've found this herb
Hyjal: Any scorched area near Fire Elementals or Twilight Cultists, Flamewake, the areas around Sulfuron Spire, and Darkwhisper Gorge. Also, sometimes in Regrowth (Flamewake after quest phasing)
Deepholm: and pretty much everywhere in Deepholm where there isn't a Heartblossom

DO NOT do like me and go to Deepholm if your herbalism is not at least 475. You will not find much. Try Hyjal first, I found several. And its not just around "firey" areas as stated before...i found all over.

Stays green all the way until 525. I don't recommend it though. At about skill level 500, skill gains from this herb, Stormvine, and Azshara's Veil slow down dramatically. I would often pick 5-15 herbs per skill point.

At level 80, I was getting 2200 experience per herb picked. Even at max herbalism skill, you can still get experience from picking herbs.

It takes 1686300 experience to level from 80 to 81. Thus, you would have to pick about 767 herbs (1686300 / 2200) if you wanted to level solely from herbalism.

If we assume that the experience gain from picking herbs scales with level, then each herb picked is equivalent to about 0.13% of a level. (2200 / 1686300)

Sure, that's a very boring way to level, but if you do it while auction house prices are high, you can level up, max your herbalism, make a fortune off of selling herbs in the auction house, and make a decent amount of money from doing all of the quests you missed (since you make more gold per quest at max level). The only thing you lose in the bargain is your sanity.

A good place to farm these are the Obsidian Forest in Twilight Highlands, there're only Cinderbloom there, pretty small area with quite a lot of herbs and every herbfarmer in Twilight Highlands are farming Twilight Jasmine so you might not get that much competition.

some calculation makes that to
0.242 Blackfallow ink
PLUS
0.022 Inferno Ink for each single Cinderbloom.

From Wowheads' data you could calculate:
2.5/5/2 = 0.25 Blackfallow ink
plus
2*0.25/5/2 = 0.05 Inferno Ink for each single Cinderbloom, given that 1-3 or 2-3 means its equally distributed.

I milled 49 stacks of cinderbloom today and got:
51 Burning Embers
512 Ashen Pigment

This gives 1,04 Burning Ember per stack and 10,45 Ashen Pigment per stack.

If you want to grab a few stacks on a character who's just hitting Cataclysm inscription/herbing level then simply don't do the Mount Hyjal quests and fly around the south-eastern 'scorched' areas for herbs (Gates of Sothann, Seat of the Chosen, Forge of Supplication, Doom's Vigil). This area has very few mobs in it before you start questing and has a few relatively fast spawning nodes as well as being close enough to nip back and forth from Org on a fast mount.

It probably won't win on speed, or even, perhaps, number of herbs but if, like me, you have an alt who you're not really wanting to level yet but want some inscription stuff from (say a particular relic, hohum) then it might help you to do a few rounds here.

YMMV - my server is chronically low-pop so this is a damn sight less hurtful to the pocket than buying from the auction house.

Cinderbloom is in every new cataclysm zone except Vashj'ir. It's even in Tol Borad. There is so much of it that it's value is nothing compared to the many other herbs. Heartblossom and Twilight jasmine are both valuable and zone specific. They both are neighbors of Cinderbloom. This frustrates me.

Hey guys,

For all of you Inscription fellas wondering what you should mill in order to craft and profit off of Darkmoon Cards. Cinderbloom is your best bet. Why? Because of its cost effectiveness.

What each mills for:

Cinderbloom:
2-3 Ashen Pigment (100% chance)
1-3 Burning Embers (~20% chance)

Twilight Jasmine:
2-3 Ashen Pigment (100% chance)
1-3 Burning Embers (~50% chance)

You may be wondering by now why I say you should mill Cinderbloom over Twilight Jasmine. The answer is fairly complex but it has to do with the Price:Inferno ratio. On my personal server it is favoring Cinderbloom which you can get for a wonderful 65g/stack and Twilight Jasmine which is a 160g/stack. All in all, unless the cost per Herb is less than 1.3x that of Cinderbloom then Cinderbloom is automatically your best bet as it will net you the cheapest cost per inferno.

The Math in case anyone is interested. This is figuring 2.5 Ashen Pigments (AP) per mill and the .2 and .5 Burning Embers (BE) Per mill.

Cinderbloom (65g/stack or 3.25g per Herb)
With 500 Mills (125 stacks or 8125g) you get:
1250 AP or 625 Blackfallow Ink (62.5 Inferno Ink)
100 BE or 50 Inferno Ink
Total Inferno Ink: 112.5 (~72.23g each)

Twilight Jasmine (160g/stack or 8g per Herb)
With 500 Mills (125 Stacks or 20,000g) you get:
1250 AP or 625 Blackfallow Ink (62.5 Inferno Ink)
250 BE or 125 Inferno Ink
Total Inferno Ink: 187.5 (~106.67g each)

33% (72.23/106.67=0.677) Cheaper to buy Cinderbloom over Twilight Jasmine. This is however only true if your servers price for Twilight Jasmine is more than 1.3x that of Cinderbloom. If it is equal to 1.3x or cheaper than that then you would indeed want to mill Jasmine of Cinderbloom.

There is a lvl 1 humanoid npc in tol barad's spider area right now that looks like a Cinderbloom. it has 42 hp, is killable and from what i see it drops nothing when looted.

The problem people are running into when running the math of 2-4 at 100% and 1-3 at 25% is that the 2 and 3 in the burning embers are not very common, so you cant just do math with the wowhead percentages.

If you are using the numbers that masti00 got when farming 49 stacks:

I milled 49 stacks of cinderbloom today and got:
51 Burning Embers
512 Ashen Pigment

This gives 1.04 Burning Ember per stack and 10.45 Ashen Pigment per stack.

With this we can show that 1.04/2 + 10.45/10 = 1.565 Inferno Ink per stack

If you look at Whiptail with the numbers reported by Iralunaumbra from 40 stacks:

Just milled 40 stacks of Whiptail and got 468 Ashen Pigment and 67 Burning Embers.

This gives 1.675 Burning Embers per stack and 11.7 Ashen Pigment per stack.
With this... : 1.675/2 + 11.7/10 = 2.0075 Inferno Ink per stack

And then we look at the numbers reported by Schubi:
Note: These numbers are with a small amount of mills, Id use the numbers i once recorded but i cant find the notes.

For some Milling data:
26 stacks of Twilight Jasmine
Output:
307 Ashen Pigment
57 Burning Embers

This gets 2.19 Burning Embers per stack and 11.8 Ashen Pigment per stack
2.19/2 + 11.8/10 = 2.27 (2.28 without rounding) Inferno Ink per stack.

When we compare them:
1 Stack of Twilight Jasmine = 1.14 stacks of Whiptail = 1.46 stacks of Cinderbloom

You can see the difference in numbers arent that big, but its enough to have to think about which one youre gonna want to use to mill.

On my server Cinderbloom is 33g a stack, Twilight Jasmine is 63g a stack, and Whiptail is 38g a stack.

Buying Twilight Jasmine is definitely not the best idea for farming, whiptail is. Farming whiptail has always proved better for me as well, so you can see why twilight jasmine is not worth wasting on darkmoon cards. Cinderbloom usually is worth buying cuz whiptail normally isn't so low.

After milling 70 stacks of cinderbloom ( 1400 pieces ) meaning 280 mills I got the following :

837 Ashen pigments

107 Burning Embers

Something that I have yet to see here, but seems relatively good knowledge.

You cannot herb Cinderbloom or any other Cata herbs before character level 65 even if your herbalism is high enough.

Most people probably won't care, but for us more insane farmers it's a pretty good thing to keep in mind. :)

Forgot to mention, but Northrend herbs like Goldclover and above will require level 55.

As you might noticed. milling info is a bit wrong!
I milled lots of Cinderbloom (about 1700) and never had 4 Ashen Pigment. so the correct ratio is:
2-3 Ashen Pigment (will edit if I saw any 4)
1-3 Burning Embers (extremely rare 2 and 3's)
Note: Guild perks don't have any effect on milling.

Farming Cinderbloom and Stormvine (Mt. Hyjal/Firelands In Whistling Grove and in Regrowth) before turning in the quest "The Ancients Are With Us" is extremely beneficial. Everything is dead so you don't have to fight for your right to herb!

Without resting, your exp is 3025. @ 506 I am still gaining 1 point toward herbalism each collection.
Resting, your Toon will bring in more than 6k per collection!

If you want to farm these as a lower level character that has the appropriate herbalism level (425), first make sure you are at least level 65, as per GreyWolfe's comment. Then you have a few options for places to go to and farm these.

As Aurik stated above, you can go to Mount Hyjal, and stick to the sub zones in the east; Seat of the Chosen, Doom's Vigil, The Forge of Supplication. They make a nice loop that you can go around and farm, and have very few mobs before you start the quests. Gathes of Sothan is completely devoid of mobs, but it's slightly off the circle around, and doesn't have very many herbs. Hyjal in general has a lot of places where you the mobs are either far apart or are fighting each other so they won't aggro you as long as the other NPC doesn't die. It is a nice short flight to and from Orgrimmar. Be aware that if you die your ghost will appear by the spirit healer in Ashenvale until level 80. This is a LONG walk back, since you would have to go through Ashenvale, Felwood, and Winterspring, so it is quicker to choose spirit resurrection. Don't worry about the Resurrection Sickness, because the mobs can all kill you very quickly anyway. Just remember that if you are a rogue, you need to keep your daggers repaired in order to use sap.

Personally I prefer Uldum for low level farming. The mobs are few and far between all over the zone, rather than one small area, and easy to spot in the wide open sandy plains. You can get the flight paths before questing there too, unlike Hyjal, which makes a quick trip back and forth to Thunder Bluff while you afk and grab a snack or something. Gadgetzan (in Tanaris) is also nice and close for access to a bank. You will come accross slightly more competition for the nodes from higher level players, but I think this is more than offset by the sheer availability of the Cinderbloom to you, without having to work too hard to avoid mobs. Once you get your herbalism high enough there is also Whiptail available.

I would not recommend Twilight Highlands for low level herb farming, as it is far away from any horde capital, full of mobs that will attack you, and tends to be the most farmed by higher level characters. Deepholm is not accessible to lower level characters.

I easily farmed these in Mount Hyjal at Darkwhisper Gorge when my Death Knight was level 77. Since none of the quest lines had been done, the entire area is completely deserted except for level 80 Spinescale Basilisks. At 4500+ experience points per plant, it's both easy and profitable!

I went to farm some of these today and for some reason no one had posted a comment about good places to farm them. So i decided to do some research and test where the best place for it was. My conclusion was Mount Hyjal, doing a lap from the path south of Grove of Aessina > Sethria's Roost > Ascendants Rise > The Scorched Plain and back to the start. I farmed for 2 straight hours and got around 700 Cinderbloom, which was a lot better than any other place i could find.

EDIT: All quests in Hyjal done.

Some posts suggest that you can use Cinderbloom to get to 525, that is not (or no longer) true. You can only get to 475.

Since 5.3, I've been trying to level my Mage's herbalism, but I can't seem to find any Cinderbloom anywhere >> hardly any in either Twilight or Hyjal. I've been looking in 'scorched' areas, as suggested. I did a pass in Hyjal at the Sulfuron Spire, and I think I found about 3 nodes, extremely bleak.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Grinding CINDERBLOOM? Gotta be ULDUM (the sandy bits). There is no other herb there to distract your "yellow dot" mini-map, and it is so easy so set a cruising flight-path around ULDUM. Uldum has 4 times the find-rate as (say) Deepholm which is a mongrel to navigate through. Also, most yellow dots in Deepholm are Heartblossom, anyway.

Actually (5.4.1) turns grey on 485. So if you want to skip Deepholm's Hearthblossom's and go to Uldum for Whiptail's you need both:

Keep in mind Ashara Veil and Stormvines turn green on 485 too.
