This item leads to 5 more quest, rewarding the following items:

* Reins of the Crimson Deathcharger - A brand new mount that looks like the Death Knight's class mount.
* Muradin's Favor - A 10-minute Frost Dwarf transformation.
* Jaina's Locket - A portal to Dalaran on a 1-hour cooldown, you finally have your own pocket mage!
* Tabard of the Lightbringer - A tabard with a very shiny on-use effect.
* Sylvanas' Music Box - A music box that plays Lament of the Highborne.

This might be changed before it goes live, maybe you'll only find one of the rewards in the chest.

in Screenshot of the GM response it says that it only drops when you have the quest "The Lich King's Last Stand", does this mean if you don't turn in this quest you can get multiple drops of the unsealed chest from one person?

As a wielder of Shadowmourne, can't you just abandon the quest after the kill, and then retake it in order to make the Sealed Chest drop again?

From the picture, it looks like you can get as many as you want, just make the one with SM to not deliver the quest after you've killed LK, but keep it in your log.
Can anyone try this?

the loot from the chest (100%) all loot is BoE not BoP so its sellable for 1 g or 2 on the AH

I have a really stupid question about this. It appears this is an item that the person who finishes the quest gets in their inventory right? So, when they open it that person can do as they wish with the contents without interference of the raid leader or loot master? I just want to be sure.

I noticed folks in other comments to plan accordingly, so I thought I would offer up how we handled distributing these fun, yet very rare, little items from our first Shadowmourne:

We chose the raiders in our group who had 90% attendance or higher since the beginning of Icecrown Citadel. Since this included our Shadowmourne bearer (and I'd think it would for most groups), we gave him first pick out of any of the items. He chose the mount. Of the remaining items, we had everyone random roll. The four highest winners got to pick an item based on their roll.

We thought this was a fair way to make sure everyone gets a little something rather than having one person keep it all! For our second Shadowmourne and beyond, we will employ a similar distribution that is fair, but prevents people who've already won from getting another item. Also, we made everyone use their items and pinky swear not to sell them.

TL; DR

How we distributed the items:

Gather the 90%+ raid attendees from the beginning of ICC.

• Shadowmourne bearer gets to pick an item of his choosing.
• Everyone else rolls.
• Top four rolls get to pick an item (three people choose, really; the last winner gets the final unchosen item).
• More folks are happy and get something fun!

I completed this quest today:

I had the quest to kill the Lich King: The Lich King's Last Stand.

When we killed the Lich King on 25 man Normal i also got the quest item Sealed Chest.

I then turned this into the Quest NPC at the entrance of ICC Highlord Darion Mograine and it in turn then rewarded me with a box Unsealed Chest.

When opened, this provides 5 separate items which are handed into thier own specific NPC accompanied with a small roleplay speech, when a speech is started you cannot hand in any more items until the speech has finished:

Edit: Only Highlord Darion Mograine can be seen in 10 man version of ICC, the other NPCs are in the 25 man version of the instance.

(Looks like a small vial of red blood): Handed into Lady Sylvanas Windrunner and rewards you with Sylvanas's Music Box.
(Looks like a Power Word: Shield icon): Handed into Uther the Lightbringer and rewards you with Tabard of the Lightbringer.
(Looks like a plain broadsword): Handed into Muradin Bronzebeard and rewards you with Muradin's Favor.
(Looks like a red and gold necklace): Handed into Lady Jaina Proudmoore and rewards you with Jaina's Locket.
(Looks like a Sky Sapphire): Handed into Highlord Darion Mograine and rewards you with Reins of the Crimson Deathcharger.

All the items are soulbound to you before you hand them into the NPC and complete the quest, after which they become bind on use. At this point you are free to choose what you do with the items. This screenshot shows a GM responding to ownership of the items from this quest chain. I know guilds argue that these items are not property of the player completing the quest, but property of the guild that helped complete the chain.

Lots of very inventive and different methods of distrubuting these 5 bits of flavour loot have been done but as clearly shown in the screenshot the items are owned by the person who owns Shadowmourne the same way all the contents of a guild bank are property of the GM should a dispute ever arrise.

I don't know if this is considered a spoiler, but it'll be a spoiler only if everyone can see it IMO. Not everyone has a chance to get a Shadowmourne and turn in for the goodies.

Oh lad, how I missed those endless days in Lordaeron, sharpening your skill with this dull blade. Forging you into a weapon meant to withstand the demands of a great destiny. Heh… You sure put them skills to use, didn't you lad?

If only I'd been able to stop you that day, how different things migha' been. If only I'da never discovered that accursed blade. Farewell, Arthas, my brother.

Quest: Sylvanas' Vengeance

So, it is done. I had not dared to trust my senses. Too many times has the Lich King made me to be a fool. Finally, he has been made to pay for the atrocities he imposed upon my people.

May Azeroth never fail to remember the horrible price we paid for our weakness, for our pride. But what now, Hero? What of those freed from his grasp but still shackled to their mortal coils?

Leave me. I have much to ponder.

Quest: The Lightbringer's Redemption

Arthas... Alas, hero of Azeroth. You give me a greater gift than you know. Long have I struggled to forgive the prince for his terrible transgressions. My soul has been wracked with unbearable anxiety, dark thoughts, distancing me from the light.

I recall clearly... the gleam of pride in his eye as he stood before me, eager to defeat the enemies of the light... eager to defend his people, no matter the cost. It is this memory of Arthas that I choose to keep in my heart.

Quest: Mograine's Reunion

Alexandros: Darion, my son. At last I am able to lay my eyes upon you again. The Lich King tormented me without end, Darion. Endlessly he sought to break my will, to force me to serve him, to bind me to his blade. Finally, when events demanded his full attention, he left me. The one memory I clung to Darion, the one thought that kept me from giving in, it was your sacrifice, my son. That again saved me from eternal peril.

Speaking as someone who has Shadowmourne and got to take all the items for himself (yum, got 130k for the mount, cha-ching) let me just say that alot of what you're writing as arguments for the guild 'helping out' is actually exactly what you would have done had you not gotten the weapon. I paid for 25x Primordial Saronite with my own gold that I farmed for the sole purpose of getting this weapon and I got our first rotface/festergut-blood for Shadow's Edge because I was the only one committed enough to actually get the saronite that early.

"For the three quests (blood, frost, unholy infusion) a guild has to go ridiculously out of their way to help you get your weapon (no personal benefit at all)."
The only one of those three that's actually a bit different from just killing the boss is Unholy (where you have to be in the abom and skip slowing ONE add on putricide). For Frost you just have to soak some breaths and for Blood you have to basically be the first or second one to get bitten.

"They have to help you go through your 1000 souls..."
Really? Did you really just put that as an argument? You go through ICC every week killing lots and lots of trash/bosses, and just because you have a quest ticking that counts those kills it's considered 'helping out'? Come on...

Yea, that one is actually the only one a slightly bit out of the ordinary but once again you're killing bosses you would've killed otherwise and all that's added is that the master looter gives you one item extra.

Now let's see if I can sell that dwarf costume...

I keep seeing all of these comments stating that the items in the chest sell for 18-32k, I'd just like to add that I play on 5 servers, 3 seriously, and not a single item contained herein has sold on any of these 5 servers for less than 70,000g. The mount fetches 100-120k easy...

lethaly002, I have never seen it drop but it is my understanding that you get all the items. There is no drop chance for them but each Shadowmourne weilder gets all 5 items one time.

I'ld like to clarifiy some information about the sealed / unsealed chest, I have recently completed my Shadowmourne and killed the Lich King in 10 and then again in 25 man.

* Your quest will complete for killing the Lich King when you defeat him on 10 man (I did not risk handing this in, as some people have reported that if you kill him in 25 man you do not get the chest).
* When the chest drops from LK 25, you loot the Lich King and the chest can be looted by you and only you (even with master looter on).
* The chest drops ONCE, upon handing in the chest you will not see the chest drop again, it is also probably worth noting that the rewards cannot be duplicated per Shadowmourne as the items are quest hand in rewards.
* Handing in the chest gives you a junkbox type item which upon opening gives you five items which start quests and RP events for each individual item, the Darion RP event is worth watching on youtube etc, however the rest are simply the character talking to you about their relationship with Arthas.
* All rewards are BOE, you are not forced to give any item to anybody; the only way someone can stop you from using the items is if you never kill the Lich King, apart from that; these items are the Shadowmourne wielder's unless he/she decides otherwise.

If you are being pressured to forfeit an item, then maybe you should consider if those pressuring you are really the people you want to raid with, with my guild I found there was quite a few people eyeing up the items even before we downed Lich King 25, simply so they could be sold in the Auction House. There are few people that would actually use these items, if you decide to give some away, choose and think carefully, after all; you will never be able to obtain these items again unless you are given them, have an alt with Shadowmourne or you buy them from the Auction House.

I believe it has been touched upon that this item can only be obtained if you have 'The Lich King's Last Stand'. Therefore, is it theoretically possible to NOT turn in the Last Stand quest and get more of these, or am I just dreaming big?

Speaking as someone who only had the ability to get the infusions done after cata, I can say I'm SEVERELY glad that the wielder is in sole control of the loot. I need to go through the mindbreaking efforts of building up a pug every week just to gather up a few shards, if the random people who just wandered in on a pug demanded rights to anything in the chest after what I had to go through to gather the primordials, blood (I wasnt in a good guild so I bought them from a top end at the time for 10k), and get groups together (I seriously feel for those who try to 25man outdated content...), those people deserve a foot up the @$$. As for back when guilds actually had multiple people in need of shards back in the day, thats why each quest says 'remember the friends who helped you' they expect guilds to be smart enough to send it to someone who could be trusted, an officer or something.

I'm currently on the quest chain to obtain the unholy infusion for my shadow's edge and i have paid for all the mats to get sahdow's edge including all 25 saronites. I only had one of my freinds help me for the souls by just clearing the first lot of trash over and over untill i got them all and we didn't wipe once. In all honosty I don't think the person who loots this that killed the lich king with shadowmourne should be forced to share any of the loot that is given by the chest turn in quest even if the guild helped with the saronite the 2 bloods even if they helped with light's vengence or the shadowfrost shards and even with the actual boss kills for unholy blood frost and even having to kill the LK himself. Why? B/C IT'S MY GOD FORSAKEN QUEST CHAIN. I did the quest I made shadowmourne if you want this stuff then go make a toon able to make shadowmourne lvl it to 85 and get all these things done your self otherwise go screw yourself b/c this is my loot.

Can anyone confirm that the chest drops in 10m as well as 25m? LK 10m is an easy solo for a 90 dk but 25m is another matter.

Let's say for an example that both you and your buddy have Shadowmourne and you killed The Lich King together.

Would you both get an Unsealed chest or only one chest and you'll have to share it together?

Every turn-in offers this admonition. It's really a fantastic opportunity to make the completion of this quest line rewarding for a whole guild - I could see the Shadowmourne bearer talking it over with the guild leader in advance, deciding who should get which reward and why. You could make a whole ceremony out of it. I wonder how many guilds actually did this.

I just ran ICC after getting Shadowmourne. Just running solo on raid heroic 25-man with Shadowmourne equipped and the sealed chest did not drop. What am I doing wrong?
