It seems as if eating the 3 and 4 Rings made this ring weaker than it should be.

On a more serious note; this ring drops from the Northred Bag of Fishing Treasures (Which is rewarded for doing the Northrend fishing quests that are given by Marcia Chase in Dalaran), it is BoE and therefore it can be sold, and it's Unique-Equipped meaning you can't wear two of these rings on the same time, but you can however wear this ring, and The 2 Ring or The 1 Ring at the same time.

This rings stats all work equally well for melee and caster DPS - this is obviously intentional by Blizz :)

All jokes aside, they seem to be deviating from the "hybrid" stats that had, instead, using more "all around" stats. The ring still doesn't look like it will benefit a healer much since they don't have much need for hit, but for any dps (physical AND caster) and possibly even tanks, this looks like a great starter ring for raiding.

The 5 Ring is the fifth in a line of rings all rewarded via some form of fishing.

First we have The 1 Ring, providing 1 Spirit, 1 Int, 1 Stam, 1 Agility and 1 Strength. This is obtained by random fishing in the original (1-60) zones.

Next up we have it's big brother, The 2 Ring, boasting a whole 22 Spirit/Int/Stam/Agility/Strength. Unlike it's younger brother, this is a random chance drop from TBC (level 70) fishing quests, contained inside a Bag of Fishing Treasures.

Now, in patch 3.1, we have The 5 Ring. As a result of apparently digesting The 3 Ring and The 4 Ring, it appears to have an unintended side effect of having reduced stats. This ring is now obtainable through WotLK (Level 80) quests, as a rare drop from Bag of Fishing Treasures in the same line of The 2 Ring.

this ring is the only ring that has both +hit +crit (in the same slot) more than any other ring in game atm!...it comes from fishing,not Naxx or ulduar!i can say it's pretty good for use and not only as a heirloom item!...happy fishing :)

The numbering of the rings might be a Monty Python reference. In The Holy Grail, Arthur counts "One... two... five" before throwing the Holy Hand Grenade. Coincidence that these rings go in the same order?

the 5 ring didnt acually eat the 3 and the 4 ring, it ate the 4 ring and the 3 ring saw it, but when the 5 ring tried to chase the 3 ring, it got away, so it had to go into hiding! thats why its named Engraved Truesilver Ring and has a reqirement of level 32 instead of 33!

I would prefer 55 to every stat :S, why? Because this ring gives no spirit, int or SP, so i would not pick it as a caster dps or healer, not like some 1 above me wrote, that it's good for caster DPS. Just because the hit rating and crit? Bah :\.

Still nice to have 1 or sell $$$ :))

This ring having such a low drop rate, it should have been made much, much more powerful, I can't see anyone who raids using this ring for very long after they have entered Naxx25? But, some ppl are unlucky on their drops and this might help.

Got this today in a Tiny Titanium Lockbox - came here to see if it was a 100% drop from the lockbox

Its low drop rate is suprising, more so when you factor in it was my first fishing daily on this character - it had 1 fishing

Since I didn't see mention of this anywhere else about the ilvl. ilvl 206 2+6 = 8.
There is a 1 ring, a 2 ring 1 + 2 = 3 and a 5 ring 3 + 5 = 8

Heh, I got it yesterday from daily fishing, the box also contained a +23 sp gem, a forest emerald-thingie and a yellow emerald-thingie.
I put it on the AH for 80g, though changed it to 555g 55s and 5c after reading these comments.
It got sold yesterday so I made a nice 700g from daily fishing (selling everything in the lockbox).

The 3 Ring! Okay now this is interesting. Why does this require level 32? 33 would be more natural
The 4 Ring Still a mystery were this ring is. This might be it. Item level - Stamina = 44
The 5 Ring wtf. Eaten the other rings? maybe a mistake have been made becuase The 3 Ring seems to be alive and so might The 4 Ring be!

Maybe the 4 ring wasnt eaten but just hurt and lost its stats.So 5 ring started eating 4, but 3 saw them and called police, but police came a little later and 4 ring was hurt and lost some of his stats, scared from the police 5 ring ran away and hid in a Tiny Titanium Lockbox and 3 and 4 ring name changed.So the 3 ring became Engraved Truesilver Ring and 4th ring Seal of Wrynn

I think that the 4 ring was was torn apart by the pain it went through from the 5 ring attacking it and its stats hid in a formula so that one day a glorious enchanter could come along and apply it to something like thus recreating The 4 Ring again.

The five rings were once a happy family, but soon the 5 ring, the youngest and most spoiled of the family, went mad with power. The eldest rings, rings 1 and 2 had already left home and had become well known, but everyone was oblivious to the fact that there were three left. The 5 ring took advantage of this and attacked the 3 and 4 ring to absorb their power and be known as the greatest ring ever (even though all stats would be +55555). The 3 ring caught him and fled before being attacked, but the 4 ring was in a deep sleep and was clueless as to what was developing. He woke with a start to find his own brother attacking him. He tried to escape by jumping out the window, which he succeeded in, but in the process he further lowered his stats.

A year passes...

The 3 ring is now widely known under a false name, and the 4 ring is still in a deep shock and is giving his body away to adventurers who meet certain requirements. Although the 5 ring did terrible things, everyone has forgotten because of his high rating, even though the partial digestion of the 4 ring left him severely crippled.

Anyone who has ever tried to sell a rare or epic item on trade can relate; very funny.

I think blizzard should add the above quote to a disgruntled, weary fisherman that will
appear at random at one of the 6 quests (Better Luck Next Time, Blood Is Thicker, Dangerously Delicious, Disarmed!, Jewel Of The Sewers, The Ghostfish) locations that the Bag of Fishing Treasures can drop from (which sometimes contains the Tiny Titanium Lockbox which sometimes contains The 5 Ring).

If you click on the NPC (I'll call him "The old fisherman") it would go something like:

The old fisherman: I just pulled this out of a tiny titanium lockbox
emote: the old fisherman holds up a ring that fills you with awe (to see something so rare) and fear (you fear something that has the power to cause some to spend years searching for it)

Ring 5 originally doesn´t have the original 5 stats of number rings
Ring 5 lost 3 digits of the stats and 10 lv requirement absorbing Ring 3.
Ring 5 share only 1/5 stats of the original rings (Stamina) Couldn´t absorb the other 4 and lost another 10 lv requeriment.

I don't really know what changed all the stats on all the items (gear), but originally L'Altro Anello had 22 points of every stat and Quest'Anello had 55 of each one of those 3 different stats... I can not guess for what purpose this was changed but it destroys the whole thing about The 1,2 and 5 thing (well, only the 2 and 5).
