Should be pretty easy to obtain the mats for this one... cant imagine it being too expensive after a couple of weeks/months.

The mats both drop off lvl70-71 mobs in Borean Tundra and have a reasonable availability which means that with the hundreds of people (even thousands) they should not be to hard to get a hold of (read: buy).

according to wotlk hunter spreadsheet from EJ, this scope is slightly lower dps than Stabilized Eternium Scope http://www.wowhead.com/?item=23766

at lvl 73 and TBC gear, Mark "S" with Diamond-cut Refractor Scope is about 4 dps lower than Stabilized Eternium Scope. this one is much easy/cheaper to make though, so should be a good choice especially when you might need several scopes in the next month or so.

Just an FWI incase someone wanted to use this on a twink, it wont attach to a <70 item even using a 70 toon. I was able to attach the Heartseaker scope to a lvl57 crossbow though using my lvl70 toon, and it didn't become soulbound so I was able to trade it to my 59 twink hunter. Perhaps you could even attach it to something lower than 57 using a 70 toon. Based on these results, I think you might be able to attach the Sun Scope to a <70 item as well.

Tried applying this to a Bow of Searing Arrows http://www.wowhead.com/?item=2825, and it was unable to be equipped due to he item being too low.

I will make the assumption that the same applies to the Sun Scope http://www.wowhead.com/?item=41146, or others released during WoTLK.

These scopes go pretty cheap at AH, so dont try to make profit crafting this things.

For engineers who are crafting these to level up and trying to dump them on the AH, do note that they vendor for 3.5g each. Looking at average prices recorded by wowhead, too many people seem to be trying to AH these for 3g.

If you plan to level your engineering by making these, make five Froststeel tubes first. The pattern for the tubes goes from orange to yellow at 395, but the guns stay orange until 400, so it's guaranteed points.

If you make tube-scope-tube-scope etc. you run the risk of not getting skill points from the tubes you make at 396-399.

Applying this enhancement into a bow/xbow/gun will NOT make it soulbound. I wasn't sure so I've just tested it. The character must be lvl 70+ to apply it but you can then send it to a lower level character or sell it.

Currently on the 3.1.2 PTR, this will make a ranged weapon soulbound once used.

EDIT: It would seem that nearly all of the scope enhancements to ranged weapons will now cause it to become soulbound.

Absolutely worthless on AH, I can't sell for 9g. The 8 cobalt used in the tube alone is at least 16g here. Most scopes seem to be this way, sadly. I would never get engineering just to make scopes.

Does it bother anyone else that the crafting of this "Diamond-cut" scope requires no diamonds whatsoever?

This is the highest +dmg scope available, except in the 1-60 range where its +11 is beaten by the Mirino di Korio's +12.

Probably not a better choice than e.g. Spararatti di Spezzaselce (113 agi for lvl1-60). Stats-wise, Mirino a Raggi X Gnomesco (300AP for lvl1-60) looks competitive with flintlocke's, but no up-front damage. Mirino Fatale di Ser Nerofumo has a lower procced agi, but is a PPM enchant (not rppm or ICD). For anything but fighting raid bosses, rppm or ICD stuff is usually going to be better, because of downtime. Also, no woodchucks (besides being AWESOME, the instant damage makes the proc more valuable than just the stats).

Unsure about the relative uptimes, but like I said, downtime between fights / mobs / pulls makes things that proc early and then go on ICD more valuable, since you get a much higher effective uptime.
