This item is looted form Malygos on Heroic mode (25 person).
Unlike Onyxia, Kael'Thas etc.. this item can be looted by ANYONE in the raid giving an incredible necklace just for one kill. GJ Blizz.
Of course 10 person version has its own quest and necklaces. Not that awesome, but still good;P

Once you have the drop from Saph, which is one drop per kill, any number of ppl can pick up the heart off of just one kill.

it's also bugged - if you die during the encounter and release after the boss dies to run back in (as you cannot get ressed) there will not be a quest item in the chest to loot. Having to GM ticket mine

If you died and can't get a res, don't release at all till the NPC spawn and makes the chest for you to loot your quest item, otherwise if you released before that you won't get the quest item. I released before the chest spawned and I didn't get my quest item, talked to a GM and he said that the item didn't spawn for me cause I wasn't in the zone when the loot table spawned.

Had the problem with looting this, didn't die during the encounter at all, and was able to click the heart until my friend did, and the "use" dial dissapeared.

Called a GM and reported it, saying that I had the Quest for the Heart of Magic and could not loot it. Came back two hours later and a GM had responded via in-game mail and it was attached to the mail.

Don't forget that the Heart of Magic quest item is not looted from the place where the rest of the loot is, however, it's looted from the blue heart-shaped object by the side of the red loot container.

I'm not sure if it used to be different, but this is where it is now.

Possibly coincidence but this icon and the name may have some reference to the rare Blue diamond called the Heart of Eternity

In case you wonder, it's possible to have 10 and 25 man versions of this item at same time.

It's rather easy to forget to set the raid to the correct mode when soloing. I did the raid on 25N, and wondered why I couldn't loot the Heart. Read the quest again, and discovered I'd ignored the directions in the description. Oops.

For anyone that can't loot the Heart, read your Quest - its likely the 10 man quest requirement, not the 25.
