When I tested this weapon out in Wintergrasp yesterday, it seemed to do 5,000 damage per hit, with a 5 second cast time. You can easily out-damage the RP-GG just by attacking a siege vehicle yourself.

However, the advantage to this weapon is its 150 yard range, allowing you to attack vehicles that are still quite far away. If you are manning a defensive position on a wall where you have limited mobility, this will be a very important tool.

Another useful thing, is that these RP-GGs may be used by passengers in a demolisher.

Useful for keeping them catapults off your back, or for getting close to those siege tanks during a attack.

Maby im just stupid, but these things are hard to use... when it says "attempts to track" i have never hit a tank with one... and since i pick these up whenever i can, just because i hope that they are doing something but i just dont realize it, but no my combat log assures me i am just standing there doing nothing... maby im not geting something, if im not plz advise, im sure theres sometrick that i just havent figured out yet. Do these work on walls? i will test this out.

Is the icon and graphic used for something else? If not im surprised nobody has noted that they used the logo for WoWhead. Figured it just as likely that this site nicked the graphic from Blizz, but just wanted to throw this out there.

Seriously, no matter if you're defending or attacking, you NEED to pick these up. I was defending, and I only managed to get one shot off into a pack of 5-6 siege engines, and I did 14k damage on each and every one of them, and I think it has a knockback effect on the tanks'. A siege engine has around 50k hp. Ofc I had Tenacity stacked to 5+. If everyone picks up one when they can, and use it, defending/attacking will be MUCH easier.

I was using this today, so don't know if things changed with 3.1...

Catapults and Demolishers were hit for about 25k, siege engines for about 45k. That means, after the 5 second firing time, catapults were usually destroyed, demolishers near destroyed, and you could destroy a siege engine in two shots.

I was hitting about 3 times out of 5, but I could not determine if something made it hit more/less often.

Long story short, you can effectively take out 2-3 siege weapons with one of these. They're free. And at least on my server, not many people use them, so there is always one to pick up.

Yep ..the RPGG makes me into a little terrorist. Durka durka! I single handedly took out 7 tanks in one match by camping them on the road with my RPGGs

I used almost nothing but RP-GGs today and these are some observations on their operation:

There is a maximum range and a minimum range on where the rocket will hit. The minimum range seemed to be less than 20 yards but longer than 10.
The rocket didn't seem to be able to hit vehicles through the small opening in the inner walls of Wintergrasp.
Most importantly, the rocket will fire in the direction which you were pointing when you first started casting. So if you're facing straight north, then in the cast time you turn to face east the rocket will still shoot north. This is important because if you're not shooting at a vehicle that is coming straight at you you will need to face where they will be in at the end of the cast time. Slowly turning with the vehicle will cause you to miss. This has been changed, now the rocket shoots where you were facing at the time of firing.

I did not notice any difference in the RP-GG's aiming when I had a target right clicked, nor did I notice very heavy tracking on the rocket unless I was aiming straight at the vehicle and the vehicle was not too close to me.

I'm pretty sure the Damage doesn't scale with gear so here's what I got.

35000 - 38000 Damage on non-crits

and

48000 Damage crits.

This is purely superstition but it seems to crit more on catapults.

Haste rating affects the cast time of the RP-GG.

Something that I noticed yesterday in Wintergrasp. They seem to have changed the RP-GGs so that they fire in the direction you are pointing when the cast finishes, as opposed to when it was started. Very helpful as leading a vehicle that suddenly stopped or altered course was a complete waste of time and/or rockets.

Additionally I noticed when standing on the front wall of the fortress and firing back at vehicles attacking the inner wall (front courtyard) that the RP-GG would actually hit them as opposed to sailing past them as it did before.

TL;DR: They arc towards the target area at time of actual launch and the amount of arc time seems to be lowered, e.g. they acquire targets much sooner after launch.

You cannot fire these off ledges or from the top of towers, or they won't lock onto anything. You have to be on the same terrain level as the vehicle you intend to hit, which really limits their use. Half the time the siege engines are followed by ground escorts anyway, and all it takes is a single hit to interrupt you firing off a rocket. Your best bet is to fire them out of a Demolisher, or position yourself behind the lines in order to get an effective shot off.

These are pretty nice to use as a druid, people can't see you using it while in any animal form, which makes it easier to get a shot off in the chaos of the keep.

As of 3.2.2:

It seems to hit consistently for 35k or so for me. Horde on my server gets a tenacity buff most of the time, so it may or may not be % based. Either way, this thing packs a huge punch and should be abused.

Using it:

Pick these up in front of your vehicle workshops. They respawn fairly quickly so there should always be a few. Dismount before trying to loot these.

The RP-GG is aimed the moment you start casting, so turning won't help any.

Once fired, it travels straight ahead at a fairly quick speed in a slight arc. At the maximum range (quite far, 150 yards on flat land and more on high land) or slightly before an enemy vehicle (this is the vehicle tracking part) it will drop down sharply.

Upon point of impact, it will detonate and damage the vehicle if it was aimed close enough. It seems to be splash-based (I have yet to hit more than one at a time, but I've hit the ground next to a vehicle and damaged it several times).

If it is too far above the target it will fly over it. So it's not a good idea to try to snipe vehicles under you from turret or tower roosts.

Aiming Tips (Top secret, no horde eyes allowed):

Face where the vehicle is going to be in 5 to 7 seconds (7 is if it's far). The farther it is, the more leniency you get. The close-range is pretty easy too since the vehicle is huge.

Try to aim on level terrain with the vehicle. The height limit for targetting messes with the accuracy. If you can't, aim far.

The minimum range is pretty small, so you're safe trying to do a close range shot as long as you aren't doing it in the middle of horde.

Damage will break the cast, so go somewhere safe.

Don't waste shots (unless you are pushed in near a respawn spot)! Each shot is a good 30k damage!

5k? 8-12k? something must be off, whenever I get me and several of my friends to pick these up and actually use them, we almost always win WG, otherwise we almost ALWAYS lose (Undermine server, horde). I've noticed a few things, the accuracy of these GREATLY changes the damage. With no tenacity on either team, I've actually one-shot seige engines with 134k crits with these things. I'm not just blowing smoke, these things are deadly! And another thing, the rang is about 100 yards on equal ground, if you are lower then your target the range can be as low as melee.. and if you are on top of a tower then I've seen these rockets go as far as 300 yards. Its all about the player's aim, they're hard to use but they pack a HUGE punch.

This hasn't been mentioned, but the RP-GG will NOT do any damage to enemy NPCs, either patrolling faction grunts or elementals. They do cause knockback on direct or splash damage hits, but will neither aggro nor damage the enemy.

Naturally, you have to aim manually to witness this, and I doubt that there's any practical use to this. Most Wintergrasp NPCs can be killed in less time than it takes to launch the RP-GG.
