To clarify, Unique Equipped (3) means that you can only wear gear with 3 of these gems at a single time.

You can make as many as you like but only have 3 at a time on your person.

If you have multiple sets of gear (tanking and dps for example) you can have a total of 6 gems in that gear, but you cannot wear more than 3 at once.

It also requires 375 Jewelcrafting, so the old trick about crafting the gems and then quitting the profession is not gonna work.

It doesn't bind to you, but if you are not a JC at or above the required skill level, the gem's stat bonus will not take effect.

I dont know if im the only one but i had 250 hit rating i replaced a gem that gave 8 expertise and 8 hit rating with one of these gems and now my hit rating is at 237, has anyone else had a problem like this?

Patch 3.2 Prismatic/Jeweler's Gems changes:

"In the next major content patch we will be removing the prismatic quality of the jewelcrafter-only Dragon’s Eye gems. Like other gems, they will have to match the socket color to receive a socket bonus. When this change occurs, players with qualifying jewelcrafting skill will be provided a yet to be determined amount of Dalaran Jewelcrafter Tokens as compensation."

This means Jewelcrafters will now have to play by the same rules everyone else does when it comes to meta gem requirements.

To recap:

"Prismatic" quality no longer exists and the "Jeweler's Gems" icons are now adequately mono-colored, a visual indication showing they'll only match one socket type.

The only benefit you'll get is the flat added value to your favorite stat which will only activate socket bonuses of the appropriate color.

Their value is being upgraded in the same patch, but that's the time when unlimited use epic quality gems are also being introduced.
