To clarify, Unique Equipped (3) means that you can only wear gear with 3 of these gems at a single time.

You can make as many as you like but only have 3 at a time on your person.

Patch 3.2 Prismatic/Jeweler's Gems changes:

"In the next major content patch we will be removing the prismatic quality of the jewelcrafter-only Dragon’s Eye gems. Like other gems, they will have to match the socket color to receive a socket bonus. When this change occurs, players with qualifying jewelcrafting skill will be provided a yet to be determined amount of Dalaran Jewelcrafter Tokens as compensation."

This means Jewelcrafters will now have to play by the same rules everyone else does when it comes to meta gem requirements.

To recap:

"Prismatic" quality no longer exists and the "Jeweler's Gems" icons are now adequately mono-colored, a visual indication showing they'll only match one socket type.

The only benefit you'll get is the flat added value to your favorite stat which will only activate socket bonuses of the appropriate color.

Their value is being upgraded in the same patch, but that's the time when unlimited use epic quality gems are also being introduced.

+42 haste over normal gems if you have this in your gear (assuming you gem straight haste)

32.79 rating required at level 80 to achieve a 1% gain in speed.
so in essence this is just over 1% haste extra by gemming these as a JC not a bad upgrade at all + very cheap compared to its epic brothers.
