i Know i will probably get flamed for this BUT... this looks to me as a good hunters weapon, 64 agi plus the 180 atk power goes together to make 244 atk power on the 1 weapon ( before hunter talents ). though with 3.5 speed it would make a nice weapon for imp slam dps warrior rotations, and it may also serve well in ret paladins alli/horde (since ally are gaining seal of blood'esque move) in dps aswell.

Another weapon that will confuse a lot of people. Why give a 2h weapon a 3.5 speed (perfect for imp slam warriors) with so much agi? As far as im concerned there are plenty of better weapons for warrior/ret/dk's and me being a warrior myself wouldnt really care if a hunter took this if i wasnt too intersted... but! if a warrior/ret/dk rolls on this then the hunter should step down (and yes i know the stats are perfect for a hunter). Weapons such as these should really go to people who will actually use it, and if a hunter rolled on this then next ranged weapon that would drop should be rolled on by any other class aswell as a hunter.

From a purely "huntard weapon" perspective, let's compare this to alternatives around the same gear level.

The most likely alternative is the Wraith Spear, also available in 10-man Naxxramas. Both have an itemlevel of 200. Exclusively looking at Attack Power, the Claymore comes out on top with an extra 28 AP (this is the AP from agility with a 1 agi=1 AP conversion rate, added to the 'pure' AP). Looking at crit, at first sight one might assume the Claymore also wins by a mile. But, factoring in the extra crit from the additional 26 agility on the Wraith Spear, it's a very close call indeed. For the Claymore this is 2.48% (1.71 +0.77 ), for the Spear 2.38% (1.3 +1.08 ), meaning only a 0.1% difference.

So what it comes down to is this: do you want to exchange 0.1% crit and 28 AP for 45 haste rating? My guess is yes in general, although your answer will obviously be determined by personal factors. Are you a survival hunter with the 15% extra agi talent? In that case, go for the Wraith Spear. Are you in a 10-man group which provides the 10% extra AP buff, but lacks a 10% stats buff such as Blessing of Kings? Then you might want to lean towards the Claymore. More importantly, have you hit the sweet spot (<1.5 second cast time on Steady Shot, which is 523 haste rating for MM/Survival hunters, and none for hunters with Serpent's Swiftness) regarding haste? If you have, haste rating in general decreases in value by quite a bit, although as I'm not a theorycrafter, I'm not entirely sure how it compares to the aforementioned 0.1% crit and 28 AP. If you haven't, remember that haste rating provides the largest per point dps increase of all the dps stats. In the end, a lot of it obviously comes down to what drops (first). The difference is quite small indeed, and both are excellently itemised weapons, so you can't really go wrong with either.

Then, of course, there's Black Ice, which drops from 10-man Eye of Eternity. It's a comparable weapon even though the item level is 13 levels higher. The main difference, as you can see, is the loads of extra hit dumped on that weapon. So whether you're going for that one or not really depends on if you need the hit to get to the cap (197 hit rating with Focused Aim, 295 without) more than anything else. That, and the fact it just looks badass. In my honest opinion.

Has anyone considered that if you're a pve arms warrior you're not going to want a 3.4 speed mace (destroyer) or 3.4 speed axe from heroics (cleaver) if you can get a slower weapon? The speed on this is 3.5. Coupled with the easily obtainable 2 piece tier 7 bonus of 10% slam damage + a more desirable slow weapon due to slam mechanics, someone would be dumb not to take this weapon over a faster one, even if it is sword spec.

Btw, blessing of kings really doesn't matter that much to a lot of people.

If this sword drops and you're an arms warrior, this is definitely an upgrade if you're using a faster weapon.

i checked gluth's loot table on the npc profile under drops and the claymore is not under normal or heroic.... who does it really drop from.........

As an unholy DK, im currently using this for pvp, as you cant get pvp weapons yet. The crit it has is pretty good, coupled with a bit from the agi. Stam is nice, and huge AP kind of makes up for the lack of strength.
The relatively slow speed results in fairly large crits.

I was previously using the cleaver from HoL, which the haste on it seriously sucks for DKs. Overall an improvement, even though theyre the same item level. A great pvp wep before you get your hands on something like Armageddon, or ultimately Betrayer.

As a ret pally i'll take this over titansteel destroyer, unless u need the hit rating. It is definitely much better for PvP. 3% crit gained by this compared to titansteel destroyer while losing about 100 ap

I got this in a Naxxramas raid last night. There were no 2-h users to roll against me and I won this as a hunter. Its a pretty good stat increase over the ebon blade reputation one. Overall this is a great weapon for any 2-h user. Don't be afraid to roll on this if you are a hunter as the stats are great, but don't go rolling on this if there is a ret-pally, fury warrior, or dk in your group whos need for it is similar to yours.

Very good for a Fury warrior, I know I am one, with 3.50 speed and the crit on there it make for a wonderful weapon in TG. I'm actually wielding it twice right now and I push about 2k-2.4k dps right now. Also the attack power helps for Bloodthirst since it's based on AP as well. Happy Hunting!

It is a well balanced weapon for any class seeking some Crit and some AP. The Agi scales decently with kings so keep in mind that many classes now gain AP for armour and armour comes a bit from Agi.

Whew... Took a long time to skip all the Hunter posts, but the time to state the obvious has come! If you play a class that can equip this, it is a viable weapon and worth considering placing a bid/roll/whatever on.

Now to address the problems, the attack speed is too fast and there's AP instead of strength, but the only properly itemized 2-H in Wrath so far seems to be the Sword of Justice, so this will have to do as an acceptable stepping stone to better gear from Naxx 25, etc. Depending on your spec and needs this is roughly comparable to Demise, and inferior to the Wraith Spear, which is as close to a 'proper' Paladin/Warrior/DK weapon as you will get in Naxx 10. Keeping in mind that having a weapon with a slow attack speed (or more accurately, higher damage per hit, rather than per second) is vital for any class that has instant weapon attacks, the slower the better.

Sadly Blizzard has continuted to reduce the number of good 2-H options and then force us to share the remiander with Hunters and TG Warriors, limiting your chances of getting a good upgrade for your all-important 2-H slot significantly, but if you have a decent guild then any of the Naxx 2-H drops are fairly easy to get. So stick with it!

For TG warriors, please keep in mind that weapon speed only matters if IF THE WEAPONS YOU ARE COMPARING DO SIMILAR DPS

This may seem obvious, but I've seen too many idiots gimp themselves by equipping a Mojo Masked Crusher or Hammer of Grief in their main-hand and putting a TS Destroyer in the off-hand. I've also seen it done with the Sword of Justice.

How does it gimp them u ask? It does so by hampering their MH white dmg which leads to hampering their rage flow.

The tiny increase you might see from your instant attacks dosen't even begin to make up for that.

In short, if you have The Claymore and the TS Destroyer, then yeah, put the Claymore in your MH. If you have The Claymore and Death's Bite, only an absolute cretin would put the Claymore in their MH because it's slower.

If you're hitcapped through your other items, personally I think this is an excellent weapon for Retribution Paladins. Although it lacks as much raw attack power as Titansteel Destroyer (about 100 less), the ridiculous crit on this thing by combining agility and crit rating and the slow 3.5 speed is awesome.

Interesting to note that only one other weapon has this model, and it was also a Naxxramas drop from Gluth. The Claymore of Ancient Power also drops from the Four Horsemen Chest, but it is very clearly the "sequel" weapon to Claymore of Unholy Might.

Guess it fits the theme of Naxxramas in WOTLK being more or less identical to Naxxramas in "vanilla" WoW, alongside T7 being redesigned T3, etc.

As of 6.0 the coloring is now more orange. The glow effect has also been removed, and enchants now show.
